I'm American and would love it if we switched to SI units. Unfortunately, there are a lot stubborn, legacy Americans.
Between science in public schools and drugs, most youth know the metric system anyway. Actually, most adults I have met know it as well. Hell, I can't see any reason to hold on to the Imperial system. It really pisses me off. I try to use SI whenever possible.
I agree. I made one of these little machines for someone yesterday. It only has two fans in the system, a power supply fan and a CPU/system fan. Plus, the system fan is a 'smart' fan, so it scales its speed based on the temperature of the CPU. It is loud when you first turn it on, but as soon as it detects that the CPU is a safe temperature, it backs off. I couldn't hear it at all over my normal computer. Even with my normal computer off, it is still very quiet. Unless you are running Prime95 or gaming or something, it should stay fairly quiet.
I was really impressed with the little XPC machine. My mom thought it was cute machine and I was like, "This is what I have wanted to make for you!"
Maestro has that functionality built right in. They currently have one data pack released, with another likely today or tomorrow. The second data pack should be interesting. Since the rover is finally off the lander (allowing multiple perspectives) and they have gotten more time to download higher quality pics, the map should be more detailed.
Yeah, I hate Comcast too. They advertise a bunch of HDTV channels where I live and I can't get many of them. I want to watch PBS in HDTV and my parents want to watch Monday night football, but we can't. Plus, when they came over to install it, they didn't complete the install (the left a wire unplugged, causing the output to be too red, and making me have to find what they did) and they fucked up our surround sound.
Wayback does not add pages less than 6 months after they are collected. Updates can take up to 12 months in some cases.
There is no access to files before they appear in Wayback. -------------------
I couldn't find exactly what I was looking for, but I am pretty sure that is how it works. However, this quote is interesting:
"The Internet Archive contains over 100 Terabytes of compressed data. This data is collected in collaboration with Alexa Internet. Alexa sends its crawlers out into the web roughly once every 2 months, retrieves copies of virtually everything it encounters, and donates a copy of this data to the Internet Archive. During periods of particular interest, such as a presidential election or extraordinary breaking news, relevent sites will be crawled more frequently, roughly every 2 to 8 hours.
The Internet Archive began archiving data in 1996. The archive grows at a rate of approximately 70 megabytes per second. A data pool of this magnitude offers a myriad of research ideas worth exploring and we encourage you to do so!"
from http://www.archive.org/web/researcher/data_availab le.php
I thought the reason they don't get the pages for 6 months is because Alexa (in exchange for sponsorship) gets the exclusive rights to the archive for the first 6 months. I'm too lazy to look it up now, but I think I read that.
That is all I have been able to grab so far. I'll try to grab the OS X and Solaris(?) ones next. Someone already posted a Linux mirror, so that is less of a priority.
If anyone already has the files, you can use my tracker if you like:
Hello. I was lucky enough to come upon a used rack that a company was throwing away. I am now in the process of building a rackmount server. By far, the hardest part was finding a case that was inexpensive and had enough hard drive bays for my needs. After much searching, I finally found the Antec line of rackmount cases:
I think these are fairly new, because when I first started looking, no one had stock. I got my 4U22ATX400 off of Newegg.com and I love it. It is really heavy duty and sturdy. Plus, it has drive bays up the wazzo. Finally, despite its low price ($188), it has the features of a much more expensive case.
I've seen a BSOD at a Sonics game. What makes it funny in my opinion is that the big three of Microsoft frequent the games (Ballmer, Gates, Allen). I have the BSOD right next to their pictures:). Actually, on Tuesday Ballmer sat in my row again. I waved at him, but I don't know if he saw me. He may have been freaked out because I was staring at him the whole game (we lost horribly, so I didn't miss much).
When I was in Guangxi, a similar thing happened. My mom and I were walking to look at this bridge at night and a little girl walked up. She tried to sell us some flowers for 'one dolla.' We kept saying no, "Wo bu yao," and waving are hands. She kept following us. Eventually, she put the flower in my mom's pocket and asked for a dollar. My mom took at out and dropped it to the ground. It was very annoying.
You just repeated what I said, all countries except America use SI.

When I used to attend Camporee, there was a Klingon patrol participated every year.
But haven't you seen the signature? "If you cut off a man's hand, he still has two pointy bones to stick in your eye." (paraphrased)
Yeah, because everyone must have access to mutliple broadband ISPs, right?
I hate it when people think stuff is so black and white.

Not only that, but it is down like every 3 days.
I found this in the FAQ:

Why are there no recent archives in Wayback?
Wayback does not add pages less than 6 months after they are collected. Updates can take up to 12 months in some cases.
There is no access to files before they appear in Wayback.

And right now it is "Spelling is a lossed art."
Maybe later today it'll become "Duplicates are unavoidable."

Where did the grandparent post imply that gender had anything to do with tech knowledge?
There are some guys I know who "couldn't explain the difference between a Megabyte or a Gigabyte for the life of" him.
Am I implying that all guys know nothing about technology? No! So where did you get insulted from?
Yeah, /. adds that to long lines of text. I believe it is to prevent a troll from screwing up the formating.
Okay, I changed it: http://torrent.andrewhitchcock.org/files/Maestro-W in.exe.torrent
Tell me if that works. Sorry about the problem.

I was downloading the Windows version (since I already saw a Linux version) but the server crashed in the middle of the download.
What about XPI or whatever it is called? I installed Enigmail and it installed right through Mozilla. It was pretty neat, I thought.
Your friends were cheap. They should have splurged on a Real Doll for you to splooge in.
I may or may not be a stalker, but I am definitely not stalking him.

If you are not part of the solution, you are part of the precipitate.

Personally, I am a fan of Eugene's Half arsed Napster 2.0 rundown over at the Apple Insider message board.
