1) Nintendo has already cut them out of the deal, resulting in a lawsuit.
2) Pokemon WAS the most popular CCG in its time, but Magic has again overtaken it. Pokemon was a fad - Magic, while it may ebb from time to time, will always be there waiting for the #1 spot again.
"Xenogears the orginal for PSone almost didn't make it to the states, and when it finally did it had 'horrid' voice acting, all due to it's religious overtones."
After the release Square admitted that it wasn't due to the religious themes, but to the volumes of text that had to be translated.
Playmore, however, was always SNK's parent company, started and owned by the same man. After SNK closed its doors, the owner of Playmore just focused on that, got it profitable again, and restarted SNK.
"...saying "the manufacturer's pledge to change future editions did not solve the problem with games on store shelves now." "
What the fuck are they supposed to do? Knock on everyone's door and stand over their shoulder and just make a beeping noise when the character says that?
...The GIA. Sadly, its successor, GameForms, is a shadow of its former self. So now I have all of no place to go for wacky japanese game ads... and that's sad.
I love how every group of twelve soccer moms standing on the sidelines biddying gets to release these lists and people actually give a damn about them and their little world for about two minutes.
With that said, any parent who lets a six- or seven-year-old play Manhunt should be shot. They exist. I saw one buy it for them while I bought SSX 3 yesterday.
The only game so far that I've actually enjoyed playing in 16:9 is Beatmania IIDX, a japanese import. The arcade original is formatted in such a way that when you play it on a normal screen, it has to crop out one player or the other for the notes you're pushing to be a reasonable size for viewing - whereas on the 16:9, you can see everything perfectly and it's just wonderful.
The only thing disappointing about these figures is the fact that they've even sold 500. One or two would be excusable, but there really can't be 500 people stupid enough to actually want one of these AND that have the money to purchase one.
I can certainly see that Japanese-developed games are selling slightly less than usual, but as far as being in a creative slump...are these guys on fucking crack? Have they PLAYED Viewtiful Joe? I can't remember the last time a US developer took a HUGE risk - they're all pretty much sticking to defined genres. At last count the best sellers were still sports games. I don't see too much creativity there.
Well, what we (we meaning fans of good music) really want is for bands to be able to live entirely off music without having to sell bazillions of records. It would be great if there were more ways than selfdistro and small indies to make assloads of money from releasing a CD, but there really aren't.
(yes, a band that sells a CD at typical markup - $10 to $12 for an album, $5 to $7 for an ep) will make a handsome profit on a selfreleased CD *if* and only if they can sell them all.)
I could give a shit less what the big five or even the massive RIAA umbrella does...the majority of my music doesn't fall under them and so I know that the artists I like, I am supporting, by talking about them, buying t-shirts, going to shows, occasionally helping them get a show/giving them someplace to stay, etc etc...
To be honest, I think they should've worked on the new characters' appearances to make them fit in better, all of them just look...out of place. Necron especially seems to lack detail, at least IMO.
Though they sure are fun.:D Nothing beats arrows with Link.
So he lost it. Big deal. I don't think it's that important, or even severe - let's face it, I'm sure he deletes tons of "YOU SUCK BIATCH" messages every day from his email and PMs on whatever forum he may happen to read.
Hardcore fans are incredibly annoying and it's amazing how they fail to realize this.
Also, Valve can update the Steam/HL2/CS2 codebase as much as needed, very quickly using Steam. If Valve changes the code within minutes after OGC 1156485481654.2 comes out, and then OGC changes, they can now strike back in minutes as opposed to months.
Besides - the VAC built into Steam has been pretty hardcore so far.
Keep in mind that while you acquired TFC and Counterstrike for free with HL1, TF2 and CS2 are both going to be seperate retail boxes.
Also, mod authors are going to be able to sell their mods using Steam - it doesn't say how subscription will affect this, but likely you won't get access to the non-Valve mods.
Not only is the interview fake, but you won't even need to take the CD with you to work - if you're logged in to Steam, it knows you have the rights to the game and will let you have it.
When the HELL did Sega "make" Dance Dance Revolution? Yes, Konami released 2 editions for the Japanese Dreamcast, but never once did Sega MAKE Dance Dance Revolution. Christ.
First, the controls: they're not awful, they're just different. After the first couple of levels, I never thought about the controls because I knew how to do what I wanted. Essentially, they became transparent.
Bullshit. The TR series controls have always been right up there with Resident Evil when it comes to cumbersomeness. Just because you "get used to it" does not make the controls good. There should be no learning curve when you're controlling a character in an action game. Core still doesn't understand that Lara should fucking JUMP WHEN THE BUTTON IS PRESSED, NO MATTER HOW REALISTIC IT IS TO SHOW HER PREPARING FOR THE LEAP! It's ridiculous choices like that that ruin the game's control, and always have.
And every bad review I've read does point out that there are good things about the game. Just not enough to make it worth playing.

I fail to see how neglected voice acting is due to the themes of the storyline.
It's probably more due to the fact that they didn't get shit for a budget because it didn't say Final Fantasy.

The stupidity of sensitivity amazes me...

I heard Reznor dropped the gig, and some other ex-member of NIN picked it up.
I'll have to go hunt down that link.

And yes, I am an import snob.
My city is relatively small, so we know all the cops in the area. Most of my friends work at the Gamestop.
About half of our police force (which is something like 14 people) reserved Vice City at the local Gamestop.
Chrono Trigger (and later Cross) did this too, to great effect. In fact, I'm pretty sure CT did it first, barring me not knowing about many NES RPGs.

CS2, since CS is now an official product, is going to be a boxed retail product.
Same with whatever the DOD team decides to do.
Everyone else is pretty much free to do what they want. Hell, Valve could make Ricochet2 and release it for free.
You can take the plastic sheeting and duct tape off your house now.
I am so sick of people who think that the stores know what they're talking about.
Valve is still saying September 30th. EB thinks November, Gamestop says February, but are either of them making the game? No, I didn't think so.
Now that we're actually IN September, I don't think they'd be saying the 30th if it wasn't going to happen. The backlash now would be incredible.
If I was a kid, I'd be pissed to see that I couldn't play online.
Is there any real demand for such a product?
Then again, I can see how it would be good, as some parents might not want their kids paying online/might be cheap bastards.

Actually, ArtX did the GC's graphics, and was bought by ATi before the GC was actually released.
It hasn't been announced yet that they're doing the Gamecube's successor, and I wouldn't expect it to be. There's a major conflict of interest there.
