  1. September Surprise on Nintendo's Perrin Kaplan Takes A Bow · · Score: 1

Multiplayer: Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime promised us a September surprise [on the Wii],and I never saw a September surprise.
Kaplan: I don't know that he indicated which year.
Multiplayer: Oh, September 2008, I'll look for the surprise then.

Boy, this interview sure cleared that all up for me! Glad they got so in-depth with that question.

If you think having a virtual dog that you can touch or pet is innovative, then i suggest you do a google search for 'Dogz', or 'Catz', or 'tamagochi.' Nintendogs is just as innovative as porting all the NES/SNES/N64 games to the DS is innovative. In other words, not at all.

  3. Overblown on Sky Captain and the Films of Tomorrow · · Score: 1, Insightful
This movie seems like a completely overhyped, overblown, piece of crap. Wow! people acted in front a green screen?! Give em a goddamn academy award, since no one has EVER done that before. Give me a fucking break. All the reviewers are pissing themselves over this movie, acting like the same kind of shit wasn't done 20 years ago.

I will prolly get modded down as a flame, but I'm tired of everyone acting like this is some new paradigm in movies, an example of the future... when in reality, the techniques aren't even new or the least bit interesting.

Now, that I did not expect. I mean, so many-like minded people, so many people, who in order to avoid spam, are resorting to the same id!

I, and I'm sure many other people have been doing this kind of thing for years and years. What would be interesting though is to gather a group of about 10 or so generic fake email addresses that have been a staple of this behavior for many years, such as someone@somewhere.com, noone@nowhere.com, no@one.com, etc, and then have a googlefight tournament between all of them..... figure out which fake email address has become King over all these years.

Do you know the difference between the iPod, and the iTunes Music Store? The iPod is the only thing listed as getting .WMA support. I would imagine the Store will continue to sell music in AAC format for the forseeable future.

Actually, Andrew Meggs, the one man team who was doing the Mac port of Half Life, got Mac & PC networking working just fine, and got it into beta relatively quickly. That is actually what scared Valve. They realized they couldn't just release the Mac version and be done with it. If Macs couldn't play PCs, they could have just released the game and said 'have fun!', but with Mac->PC play, they would have had to update the Mac version every time they updated the PC version enough to change the protocol, or deal with the wrath of many angry Mac customers.

They chose the easy and cheap way out... cancel the port
