Stores like that, and Sharper Image have way over priced crap. I like to think that the people who buy from there don't know anything about what they are buying and just buy it as a status.
Check the shortwave radios they have, $99 for a basic short wave radio? You can get a similar model from amazon for $20.
Back in middle school I would call up the logitech 1800 hotline and they had a service that would fax you user manuals.
It was great, I would call the 1800 number up and press the keys to get the manual for some mouse then type in the phone number. Best part was that if the line was not a fax it would continue to redial and retry.
Buy a prepaid cell phone at a store. If you talking about low level class stuff you should be fine. It is much harder to track the cellphone and then tap into it. If your attacker has the hardware to do that, you should worry about other things then.
If you travel a lot you can look into getting a sat phone. Remeber that they work best outdoors, so that will not help much unless you have a seperate antenna unit.
Not many people know this but the DoD bought a site licence for every family member and site computer of Norton AV. That's right, you can download the free version and take it home it install it on your computer.
I would like to see divers just go away. I remeber a while back Sun pushing for Jini I think it was. Basicly what I would like to see is each hardware device have a 32M Flash modual that would contain a universal driver for all OS, UNIX Windows and what ever else. That way I could just plug in some card, the driver would download from the flash and just work.
I buddy of mine is down in the "big sand box" and has a MCI cellphone, funny thing is his phone number is local to NYC. When I talked to him, it would drop evey 5 -10 minutes.
I owned a ibook and the damn thing was a oven, you could fiy egges on it. One day I took the laptop and set it on a pillow and shoved a therm probe underneth it. After 20 min the probe was registing 115 'F
One of the reasons the Feds are MS's biggist customer is becouse almost every computer has two, even three licences. Most organizations buy a site licences and then get one with the Dell PC. If only Dell sold PC's without licences...
Anyone that was/is in the military overseas knows what I am talking about. The military set up a special state called AE (and others) for Armed forces Europe. Many sites do not let you buy things and send them to AE becouse it is not in the list of states. The worst part is that the price of shipping to an AE account is NO MORE THAN shipping to a NY address.
Intresting signature. I saw that quote yesterday at the library when I was browsing thru some travel books.
Does anyone know if the windows itunes will work with the MAC 5gb ipod?
I would just try it, but I don't have a firewire card.
Thanks.

Simple,

Why is it when I searched google for "Bruce Schneier" the first ad on the right was "Work at Google, Google is looking for software developers..."
Does google want to hire Bruce Schneier?
Sure, and the regular mailbox rebuilds are what every sysadmin look forwards to!
I wonder what this will do to TechData. They are one of the biggist resalers. And they just closed there training division.

Your starting to remind me of my childhood when I would get russian toys cars that had razor sharp edges.
The US also used batts and tied bombs to there legs. The plan also failed, i think only one expoloded.

That won't work for someone who lives in Florida and is too cheap to pay for A/C.

That is why so many Americans said "WHY US?" on 9/11, while the rest on the world said. "I knew it would happen some day"
A study was done a few years ago on American High School graduates to locate the USA on the map.
13% could not locate there own contry on the map.
What is worse is the APO AE problem
