Why don't we talk about big robots with lightbulbs for heads while we're at it? Even at lightspeed, it would take us 100,000 years to reach the other side of just our OWN galaxy. Sure, it seems infinitely fast, but it's really not going to get us anywhere all that interesting in a single lifetime. What we NEED, is to clone Hawking's brain a few thousand times, hook them all up to a central logic unit, then set them to work on a real Warp Drive.
Now the world is gone I'm just one, hold my breath as I wish for death...:headbang:

Being trapped in a meat coffin never sounded so awesome. Yes, that was the movie.
Doesn't that make it an Android patch? Is the goog going to start down this slippery road of releasing specialized patches for its baby while leaving all other Android users out in the cold, no-feature-having darkness? It would seem that a move like that could only hurt the popularity of their flagship mobile iphone-killer OS. I can understand a 3G related patch being phone-specific, but it seems that what they are doing is diverging their OS into 'Android' and 'Android for Nexus One'. Not cool guys.
You can have both, it's called Android. Android supports both multitasking and multitouch. These are not new concepts, they are only 'innovative' at the moment because Apple defined the 'smartphone' genre with their clunky iPhone, so people were trained to not expect multitasking in that type of device.
I don't want to be locked in to all of the crap that comes along with an Apple hardware/OS device. As soon as a good Android, or anything else really, pad device comes along I'll be all over it.
The iPad makes me cringe just because I know I'm gonna have to listen to Apple fanboys rave about it endlessly without any real reasoning to go along with said ravings.
Absolute power corrupts absolutly. There comes a point when attempting to control everything about the Internet is evil by default. Google is approaching critical mass.
While in geo-synchronise orbit over every major continent, call center employees will be available to answer your computer questions both day and night.
My thoughts exactly. Especially when you factor in the fact, which others are posting about, that you can often tell by the way a person dresses/carries themselves whether they are mostly liberal or conservative. That fact alone should more than make up for the above-chance positive rate that this study observed.
This sounds suspiciously like a researcher trying to make a big deal out of something that is fundamentally common sense.
All well and good, but if they are spending $9mil on a website that is only going to be accessible to people who are ALREADY paying for their articles via the printed paper....what's the point?
They just spent $9mil to allow their current readers to read the same articles online as well. Excellent business model.
They were obviously expecting to make revenue from the paywall, but instead they are proving that the paywall model does not work well. Granted a paper with a larger circulation would have more paywall subscribers by default, but if the percentages remained similar it would still not be worth the investment. It will be interesting to see how larger news sites respond to this.
Human rights and the well-being of their population, they probably wouldn't have half the dissent and problems they have now. Which would, in turn, require less effort to police the people and would result in much less of a need to 'control' their population.
You cannot completely control a population the size of China's. If you want them to conform you have to win them over.
All major defense contractors and military networks should host social networking sites geared toward anti-chinese discussions. That way, China's great firewall will block access to them, thereby preventing any further attacks from the Chinese.

All files that begin with an "A", obviously.
...waiting.

Fastest 3G network in the country... Sure, as long as you don't count major metro areas or any of those other peskly 3G networks.

I would have used that new sacrasm tag, but it's patented.

Actually, very suprising. He's actually following through on something he promised during his campaign. This is new territory, hang on to your butts.

Walking down the street laughing and talking to an invisible friend without holding anything up to their ear. It's just not right.
Not that I don't believe everything I read on Slashdot, but do you have a link with more info on this?
That's what I'm getting out of this article. Why Luke, WHY!?!?!
So much for 'nobody writes hacks for old stuff anymore, if we just keep running NT we'll never get hacked' Sounded good at the time.
Let's txt some pr0n to some mayors and gov't officials to see what happens...
