The whole concept of a helium shortage was a made up event for corporate America to take over the US Helium reserve.

Many oil production facilities vent out helium because the cost to capture and transport to market are too high compared to the return on the investment on the next quarters finical reports.

And there is nothing more important then next quarters finical reports, our pensions depend on them, our IRA depend on that, sometimes our bonus depends on the next quarters finical reports.

We have to listen to our CorpPolitical overlords, reusing helium will just make the problem worse, the price for helium will go down and thats not good for profits.

On the surface I might agree with your argument that the ISP consumer that's subsidizing the cost of the bandwidth the FANGs are using.

But then look what is going on with the large ISP’s, they are buying up content.

Comcast owns NBC and Universal Entertainment, Time Warner owns Warner Brothers Entertainment and a whole bunch of other content.

Even Verizon owns a hand full of small content providers.

Without NetNutrality it would be easy, legal, and make good business sense for these ISPs to prioritize their content regardless what the consumer wants.

I still fail to see how this can Hyper-stuff can make a profit. ok, you can move up to 16 people between points at a very fast speed, yet the cars would need to be spaced far enough apart from each other to provide a save emergency stop if something went wrong with car up front.

While there is existing technology, the mag lift, in use, that can move two hundred plus people at a time on a monorail (cheaper then a tunnel) at speeds up to 400 km per hour.

The future of transportation is moving a large number of people fast and efficiently, I would love to see the business plan on this tunnel, how many people can be moved in a 24 hour period? whats the cost per passenger? whats the maintenance cost? the cost to maintain the vacuum in a ten mile line, yes it’s underground, but your going to need a lot of emergency exit points along the route, and each air lock is another potential vacuum breach.

The Concord showed us fast is not always profitable.

The last time the writers went on strike we ended up with Doctor Horrible’s sing-along blog, and that was not a bad thing.

    Streaming ....

The writers should have seen the writing on the wall, Hollywood, although still capable of producing an original hit now and then, are more interested in sequels and reboots then originality.

TV is much the same, “lets get this guy that was popular for 4 seasons in a sitcom and put him in another sitcom just like the last”

That might work for some viewers, but it will not grow the industry

It happened before, in the 60’s Hollywood was afraid of cost and originality and it took the Italian's with their Spaghetti Western’s to show the way forward. and a decade later Norman Lear transformed TV

The shift is happening, like it or not writers, traditional Hollywood and TV are dying.

  24. Why does MS feel its so important for us to upgrade?
I’m happy with Win 7, and the accounting program we use in the office is not Win 10 ready, and many of the games I play are not Win 10 ready.
I don't understand why MS feels they have to force Win 10 on us when many are perfectly happy with the Win we have.

  25. The part I cant figure out is why? whats so important that we all must upgrade to what is basically a free upgrade. I’m running Win 7 in VMware on my Mac and the commercial accounting program we use is not yet patched for Win 10 so I cant upgrade. Why is Microsoft insisting everyone must upgrade?
