I want a truly open operating system on my phone. Android is Linux but it doesn't feel like Linux, I had to void my warranty just to get access to the terminal. What would be nice is something like Ubuntu on my phone.
Or maybe Google could just use the GPL instead of the Apache license...
For a desktop I don't find myself wishing that I didn't have to boot. It only takes about 20 seconds (excluding GRUB) anyway.
Interesting to do but I don't really see the point

My dad did this on his Dell laptop, it was the first time I got to use MacOS and after a little play around I decided I would much prefer to just use Ubuntu.
Android seems to be failing, this 'open' operating system seems to be hardly open at all.
Being Apache licensed what is there to stop the 'community' from forking android and making a truly open operating system using the GPL? Many people are already hacking roms in efforts to get things working that the manufacturers don't want us to have (and doing a brilliant job) it doesn't seem like too much of a leap to create a truly open system which people can collaborate on and use on all phones.
I have thought for a while now that they should just sell vinyls and if you own the vinyl then you should be entitled to download the music. CDs are a waste of time.
If they made that phone without all the silly concept stuff it would be awesome (8MP camera, big screen and speed (my phone is not half as responsive as the phone in the video)) as Mozilla would leave the Android completely open and continue to update it. Shame it can never happen. =(
I google the occasional thing and use Thunderbird for email so there is no reason for me to be on any Google for services for any length of time but I almost always have a Facebook tab open.
My phone (A Samsung GT-I5700) came with Facebook and Myspace. Not only can I not remove these; I cannot update them either so I am forced to download a newer version of Facebook despite another version being already installed on my phone. I bought the phone thinking that it was open but it really isn't. I am looking to root but the drivers wont work.
I have been using the https version of Google since I found out about it and had no idea Google had done this.
I quite like it, even if it is a bit slow loading although reading the comments it looks like the first implementation of it was a bit rubbish.

A watch embedded in your arm is the first thing I thought of that would be pretty cool.
and more and more I wish I did not. We are losing freedoms all the time and no one seems to care.

You aren't friends with people who talk shit, in real live or on facebook.
I know this is news for nerds but I thought that even nerds shunned World of Warcraft players.

It's made out of that cheapy paper so it burns easily.

Does this mean cheap solar cells for the whole world? I'm guessing not.
Anyone know why not?
Download Skyfire browser, it converts flash videos to HTML5 videos 'in the cloud' I have had good experiences with it so far.
I kinda like those stickers. Even considered buying some once, then I remembered I prefer food.
My computer has a big "Powered by Ubuntu" sticker on it. =D
Cyanogen still doesn't support my Galaxy Spica *sniffle*
I do love that after the manufacturer has stopped supporting phones there is still the custom firmware out there.
Until they go under some trees or inside a building.
This thing can root my phone without flashing new firmware? Where can I get it?

Did anyone else read 'Bum' instead of 'Burn' in the headline?
You save money on electricity so you can spend more money on the latest Intel chip.

My school has had this for ages (at least while I have been there (5 years) and probably longer) and it's no big deal.
It's not like anyone cares (and it wouldn't really matter if anyone did) what my fingerprint is.
That road had a patch of grass down the side of it as well which is basically a 'sidewalk'
