  1. Re:I can think of only two reasons... on Why Do-It-Yourself Photo Printing Doesn't Add Up · · Score: 1

    Well hello mister fancy pants..
Not everyone wants to live on top of their neighbors in a city. I have 5 acres about 15 mile from town and prefer not to see anyone else. I can leave my cars unlocked in the drive and do not have worry about hodlum kids. We can watch movies loud and sometimes project them against the barn drive-in style. .

  2. Re:No kidding? on RIAA Goes After Satellite Radio · · Score: 1

I have a XM Roady 2 with a Car mount and House mount in my office. I take it back and forth from car to office. 95% of my listening is FOX/CNN news, XM Comedy XL, and the Oppie and Anthony show. I occasionally flip to music when the kids are in the car.
I am also guilty of using Audacity to record songs to my MP3 player (about 2 a month), but then I was recording them from radio before XM. There is little quality difference between XM and FM.

The AWACS(AOCP)code I work on is stored on a classified mainframe. Not all of it has anything classified in it but because it is on the mainframe with classified code it will never be released in any way. We still have a couple of old green screen terminals but mostly use PCs with terminal emulators.

My wifes two favorite game series for the PC are: MYST 1-4 and anything with word SIMS in it. She actually prefers the PS2 versions of the Sims due to the missions and the fact that they do not crash the way the PC versions do. She also helped Beta test Sims Online (it not her fault it sucks). She also love those Harvest Moon and Animal Crossing games on the Gamecube and GBA.

Typing of the Dead blends horror with a typing tutorial for an original gaming experience. There are several game modes to help you become a terrific typist. Drill mode focuses on different skills, such as typing speed, accuracy, reflex, and special keystrokes. In the boss mode, your battle against each boss emphasizes a different skill, from quick reading and answering to story reading and typing. Two-player modes include cooperative and competitive.

This game was the reason I bought 2 keyboards for my Dreamcast. My kids will play this before Mavis Beacon Typing.

Another choice that is more modular is using a US robotics Broadband Router with Serial port that can access a USR serial v90 modem or ISDN modem. I also hooked a WI-Fi Bridge to it. Its good to be modular, when the modem gets toasted due to lighting strikes, and yes I use a surge protector but some spikes get through anyway.

I'm a JoaT geek Myself. I converted My 91 Chevy Astro to R134 in the barn I built on my property that also has most of my computers in it. I converted some old mobile home central A/C units to cool the barn, and will cover the roof of it with solar cells one day when they get cheaper. Due to my rural location I also have a small satelite dish deck on the roof for TV and Internet, good for astronomy too. 8^)
