I have Comcast cable internet in Reston VA, just outside of Washington DC. While I haven't noticed it with Google itself (yet?), for the past few weeks, I've had problems getting Google Maps (maps.google.com) and Google Earth to fully load at home.
All three map/sat/hybrid maps will load pretty well at when zoomed way out (country or state-level), but when you get down to city or street level (useful if you...say...want directions!), you get a lot of "no image available at this zoom level" errors. Some image squares will load, others will not.
I know for a fact that images are available at the zoom levels I'm trying to access, because
A: I used to be able to zoom all the way in B: I'm able to get the maps to load from work (Speakeasy T1 access) C: It's DC for god's sake. Every inch of this place is mapped twice-over...at least.
It has gotten so bad that I've resorted to using Yahoo! Maps to get directions when I need them now. If this is Comcast screwing things up, I certainly hope they straighten this sh*t out fast.
Wouldn't this UV Disinfectant Wand from ThinkGeek be a bit easier? Killing 99.9% of bugs with a 10 second clean cycle seems a bit more reasonable to me than a 7 day clean/dry cycle. Especially for those of us who work on a number of computers all day long.
"What is being called a "glitch" by Hart InterCivic spokespersons, three cities in Virginia -- Alexandria (poster's note: population 7,078,515 in 2000), Falls Church (pop. 10,377 in 2000) and Charlottesville (pop. 45,049 in 2000)-- will not properly display (Democrat) Jim Webb's name on the November ballot summary screen. Voters will only see 'James H. "Jim"' on the ballot, instead of 'James H. "Jim" Webb'.
To make matters worse, the candidates will have "their party affiliations . . . cut off" even after navigating through the summary screen nearly blind. To put some perspective and clarity to this, in Alexandria, Falls Church and Charlottesville, Virginia, voters will not be able to recognize Jim Webb by his full name OR by his party's affiliation!"
Consider FedEx-ing (or UPS-ing) your expensive stuff over to meet you upon arrival. You can insure your goodies for their full value, should they get lost/stolen/broken. I don't think the airlines will give you that kind of protection.
I accidently left my 256MB Sandisk Cruzer Mini in the pocket of my jeans as I washed and dryed them (automatic washer and dryer). I found it in the bottom of the dryer, still *really* warm to the touch. When I plugged the Cruzer into my computer, it acted as if the whole incident had never happened. I've used it every day since then and never had an issue. It gets my vote for 'sturdy drive'.
I couldn't get the videos to work in Firefox 1.0.4 (with Flashblock installed). I clicked on the Flashblock "play" button, but then got only audio, no video. I had to open the page in IE to see them. Oh the humanity.
After setting off the alarm at MicroCenter (a computer store) I had some creep try and stop me, claiming he "helped with security" at the store. I told him to take a hike and walked past him. He ended up following me to my car, mumbling about "taking down my license plate number". I wrote letters to the store manager, the corporate Customer Service department, and I blogged about it. I never did hear anything from the company.

Maybe a nitpick, but why can't they just use postal state abbreviations? Are they really catering to people who don't know that "CA" = "Calif." and "OK" = "Okla."
i've got cox digital cable in the DC area, and pixelation is horrible at times, particularly on the odd HBO channels (HBO2, HBOF, HBOC, HBOWHATEVER). i don't seem to have problems on the main HBO channel however. i haven't been able to tie it to the weather or dog sneezing or anything particular. but it should be illegal for them to flame satellite reception when theirs is so bad (at times) too.
I carry a portable version of KeepPass on a USB drive. Of course, I keep the encrypted KeepPass.
For the record (at least for the moment) the Pre requires a Sprint "Everything" plan, all of which include unlimited data.
Does this mean my Google Maps will start working again?

At least they were nice enough to build-in a way for you to pay for your new 'upgraded' system. Powerball financed!

Check out the White House, Old Executive Office building, and whatever that building due east of the WH is. They all have their rooftops false colored to hide snipers/AA batteries.
I had a (default?) filter in AdBlock set to block */ads/* which prevented it from being displayed.

I would think that beer, remote controls and la-z-boy could claim prior art pretty easily.

why does it have to be "large black men"? how about helping to stop racism?
