Interesting I was considering buying a solargorilla a few months ago but I found it to hard to believe you could actually power something like a laptop straight from the sun. I find it less likely that panels on a laptop itself could be enough to power it maybe trickle charge it when it's off but even then I'm thinking it would take way to long to be of any real world use.
I may of course be completely wrong and maybe it is in fact possible in countries that have a lot of sun I've a feeling I'd be wasting my money in the UK. I still like the idea of having a self sufficient power source I just don't think the technology is there yet.
I've never bought a bad Samsung product to be honest and lately that is all I have been buying. To be fair I do tend to go for their top of the line stuff and I've yet to have anything let me down I'd actually say their my favourite brand at the minute I think their pushing technology faster than anyone else and let's face it most apple devices are just recased Samsung chips.
Just my opinion of course but I really believe they are heading in the right direction lately.
Not the only one I refused to upgrade to 4 as well lately I've been using the 3x branch of Palemoon and I'm experimenting with Safari a bit since I had it installed anyway and only recently discovered it had an adblock extension. Firefox's decision to copy chrome put me off it and I've actually been advising people to ditch it lately even if that means giving them Chrome itself.
I always liked firefox and had been using it since it's early betas but I really don't like thing's like hiding the menu's and url bars in my opinion it just makes browsing much more work.
I actually think Samsung is the new Sony if you are talking about the old Sony who actually made high quality hardware I still have an old Sony walkman that looks like new and is barely larger than a cassette tape that was quality. I think Apple is starting to be more like the evil Sony we have all seen a lot of as late I suspect it's the music/movie industry that's dragging these companys down that road and slowly killing them as well.
The really annoying thing is I used to like Sony a lot and I still want the next gen portable it actually looks like they have made all the right decisions on that one, but If that is ever going to happen they are going to have to seriously change their attitude to their own customers and stop trying to lock everyone into their drm crazy formats.
I've been using miro a while mainly for video podcasts which it is very good for and I don't like the sound of it copying itunes myself. I have itunes on another computer solely for my ipod and both it and it's accompanying bonjour are a horrible software.
I guess the simplest thing I can do is just not update it again I know this is an extreme reaction but I've been using it on my netbook and don't like the sound of more bloat I just don't need it.
There is only one Apple Store where I live and I went into it once and only once to buy an Ipod Touch, when I enquired I was told they had none in stock. This wasn't anytime near a release of a new model or any demand for them. I just don't get how they can only sell a few things yet not actually keep them in the shop to buy.
It seemed like a really strange place were some seriously strange looking people were just staring at the displays like zombies I have to admit I felt uncomfortable just being in there.
So as an actual shop I think they are completely useless I did buy one that day by the way about 30 meters around the corner in a real Electronics shop. I also picked up a non apple netbook at the same time.
I do like my Ipod and do use it a lot but it's the only apple product that appeals to me although I do love my gadgets and toys.
I can't remember what novel it was exactly but I've definitely read a sci-fi book series where they actually accelerate a ship up close to light speed and then release grains of sand towards a planet and each single grain gave a nuke type effect when hitting.
Was something along the lines of the speed increasing the mass of the grains and giving them immense energy, I thought it was a pretty clever idea and would definitely be a killer weapon if it was ever possible. It's annoying me I can't remember the book
I really hope not as well I would have to ditch skype completely I refuse to use facebook if this proves true I'm deleting my skype details immediately.
Guess it's time to start looking for alternatives apart from google which isn't rolled out in the UK yet I have no Idea.
As someone who owns both the Ipod pretty much sucks at games and even games like infinity blade are pretty shallow.
I kind of want the NGP but I'll probably not buy it just because of how Sony treats it's customers.
That's why they are pushing Angry Birds onto consoles and PC's then.
Angry birds is past it's sell by date it's had a decent run considering how basic it is but it's now even the dimwitted are bored of it.
I'd agree with this myself although I only have an Ipod Touch but I do have most of the Apps I perceived could possible be useful from office apps, pdf readers, paint packages, everything really but without any easy way of sharing the files between Apps it has all become a bit of a non starter. Sure you can email yourself the files or use dropbox but like you say why should you have to waste bandwidth and possibly privacy not to mention it's just inconvenient.
It's incredible they haven't at least given all Apps a single shared folder or something it isn't rocket science.
I ditched noscript a while back because of the ridiculous number of updates no doubt solely to generate Ad revenue. I'm still suprised there no real alternative to it or if there is it's passed me by, I do think it's a good idea I just hate the constant updating.
I stopped using firefox a while ago though when they announced the gui change although in a way they still have me because I'm mostly using Palemoon lately and hoping they keep things simple but I do have K-Meleon as a fallback. I guess you could consider my alternatives basicly firefox anyway I wish epiphany was on windows I just want a simple lightweight browser with a traditional layout and a few plugins like adblock and greasemonkey.
Seems a pointless move to me as long as they keep bundling the worlds worst earphones how would anyone even tell.
I'm speaking as someone who uses a 64gb Ipod Touch as my mp3 player I put up with the poor sound quality because I like the Apps I can have to hand but seriously if anyone asked me to recommend a music player on sound quality alone I'd have to point them to Cowon.
Not to mention it's still missing 2 shoulder buttons so emulation won't be even be great the original playstation had 4 not two. This alone is enough to mess up a lot of the best ps1 games.
I did want an ngp though it looked really good until I found out it had a sealed un replaceable battery guess I'll be skipping all Sonys offerings.
Sony is just making themselves less and less endearing I wish they would stop it as I want the NGP and I won't be able to justify buying it if they keep doing stupid things like this.
I think it's even crazier they want IP's from people who only viewed the video though for all I know I could have seen it embeded somewhere or other and never even took it in.
My main player at the minute is an ipod touch but I'll happily admit cowon sound is just better. The reason I went apple was for the all the other possibility's it offers with the app store, it's a very nice multifunctional device but when it comes to sound quality in my opinion nothing beats cowon. Most of the samsung players have pretty good sound as well so this Galaxy player is actually quite interesting to me I've been kind of curious about android as well.
I temporarily abandoned my PSP to play games on my Ipod Touch and while I still do (mainly due to it being so pocketable) there is a noticable quality difference with the PSP being the easy winner in terms of overall quality, polish, control and smoothness. I'm in the position where I have some of the same games on both systems and the only advantage IOS has is price of games and being easier to pocket. I've seen a ton of games where everyone on apple forums makes lots of noises about how this one is better than the psp and they are in my opinion always wrong.
Price and Portability are apples advantages here and they are quite big ones but they aren't even close to taking on proper gaming handhelds and I'm speaking as someone who owns both and uses both.
I think Sony has got it all wrong with the PSP 2 though if it is actually bigger in size than the original PSP as rumoured lets face it the original is a bit to bulky to be truly portable never mind making it bigger. I'm sure it will be powerful but if it doesn't fit in a pocket you may as well just play a home console instead.
I think 3DS will probably do better than both but I do think the apple devices are improving.
Way to expensive for what it is to me it looks like they've made the cheapest piece of junk they could and they are trying to sell that as a feature. For this price point you would have to be a complete moron to buy this one you can buy a lot of phones already with very basic features that look a lot better for about half this price.
If you ask me this is overpriced junk.
Same situation here I was going to buy a PS3 solely for Gran Tursimo but everything Sony have been doing recently has been driving me further and further from actually doing it. As much as I've always liked Gran Turismo I might just skip this one it's only a matter of time until they sabotage the PS3 further also the amount of firmware update bricking stories I've heard recently really makes me think a ps3 is bad gamble that is bound to eventually go wrong.
I think your probably right no way they are going to start writing an OS from scratch it will be a in house *nix variant with wine doing anything else would take to long and cost to much in my opinion anyway.
I agree and their wasting their time messing with the GUI instead of fixing speed issues and memory bugs I've switched from Firefox myself now and I've been using it since the first betas. To be honest the upcoming GUI change was the straw the broke the camels back I'm still using Gecko based browsers but not firefox.
It's a shame really what everyone liked about firefox was the leanness and now it's just bloat and getting worse with every decision they make.
I may of course be completely wrong and maybe it is in fact possible in countries that have a lot of sun I've a feeling I'd be wasting my money in the UK. I still like the idea of having a self sufficient power source I just don't think the technology is there yet.
Not really that impressed in honesty especially since quake online has been about quite a while and works a lot better.
Just my opinion of course but I really believe they are heading in the right direction lately.
I always liked firefox and had been using it since it's early betas but I really don't like thing's like hiding the menu's and url bars in my opinion it just makes browsing much more work.

I think it has great usability as well just for the record and far longer battery life than the much more expensive notebooks.
Was something along the lines of the speed increasing the mass of the grains and giving them immense energy, I thought it was a pretty clever idea and would definitely be a killer weapon if it was ever possible. It's annoying me I can't remember the book
Guess it's time to start looking for alternatives apart from google which isn't rolled out in the UK yet I have no Idea.
In my opinion the 3DS is a step backwards for portable gaming I'm not keen on the 3D effect either I can't see it as anything more than a gimmick
As someone who owns both the Ipod pretty much sucks at games and even games like infinity blade are pretty shallow. I kind of want the NGP but I'll probably not buy it just because of how Sony treats it's customers.
This is exactly what I thought when I watched apples last keynote with all the happy Ipad2 users talking in the clips. What's the difference?
That's why they are pushing Angry Birds onto consoles and PC's then.
