In Dutch, the www is no problem (to pronounce, since it's a single-syllable sound), but most commercials and people spell sites like wwwslashdot.org. Without the first dot, with the second. Drives me crazy. Oh yeah, and people still insist that every site should start with www...
From the horse's mouth, also on the same Wikipedia page:
It was later pointed out by readers that 6 × 9 = 42 if the calculations are performed in base 13, not base 10. Douglas Adams later averred that he was not aware of this at the time, and repeatedly dismisses this as an irrelevant concoction, saying that "nobody writes jokes in base 13 [...] I may be a pretty sad person, but I don't make jokes in base 13."
I find the monitoring of citizens location during every moment of a cell phone call to be a bit more frightening than not being able to use false data to register an email address.
Because I can still choose to turn my GSM off. I cannot choose to turn off the data logging that the phone company and ISP are doing. I also cannot choose to unhook the black box we're all going to get in our cars that record every road we drive (for 'tax purposes'...)
And these goons want a road-pricing scheme via GPS tracking?
Ah, well, The Netherlands are going to implement a similar scheme as well. We'll all have a nice little black box in our cars, tracing every mile of road, so we can get charged not only on where we drive, but also when we drive there...
I thought the EU does not permit software patents, as on date. Any MS patents are null and void in the EU as it is.
AFAIK there are hundreds, if not thousands, of software patents issued by the European Patent Office. Wether they're legal or not remains the question...
[E]xcept for at work, where we have a couple of IE-only apps.
There's also the Active-X plugin for FireFox, which also works with third-party OCXs. All you need to do is add the Class IDs to Firefox\defaults\prefs\activex.js.
Hope this helps!
A friend of hers moved to Germany with her parents (from The Netherlands). To each other (and other Dutch people), they spoke Dutch. To other visitors, usually german ones, they spoke German.
Once, when the doorbell rang, she switched languages in the middle of the sentence! A nice 'Pavlovian' reaction...
In the group where I play DnD, I have a team of DMs, a man and a women. Also, my GF plays a (mal) dwarf in our world. Interestingly enough, I play a female half-elf there:-)
I e-mailed a couple of representatives, yes. Answers? "We've read your e-mail with attention. Ministry of Economics".
On the other hand, I've had quite a good exchange of insights and information with Arda Gerkens of the Socialist Party. She's opposed to software patents in general, and is outraged on the whole situation. She's the one that has gotten the '2e kamer' to adopt the motion to tell minister Brinkhorst that he was to support any countries wanting to make software-patents a B-item (Portugal, Denmark). Unfortunately, his microphone 'didn't work', and he even accused Denmark of 'pulling out'!
All in all, I've been disappointed with the response from the yeah-sayers, and content with the response from the nay-sayers.
The time has come to stop this lunacy called 'software patents' in its tracks in Europe, but I'm afraid that lobby groups in Europe have been busy 'talking to' politicians here as well...
Oh wow! Deep-linking outlawed, URL-typing outlawed! How long until hyperlinking itself is outlawed? Oh wait, I should ask BT that, since they own the patent on hyperlinking...
Besides, isn't 'regulating access to private information on a public website' what httaccess was for?
A previous poster's comment about katakana 'ri' and 'n' being similar is an interesting one ('uri' -> 'un'), but actually the katakana for 'ri' is closer to 'so'.
I think he meant that the Latin characters 'ri' and 'n' look alike. Ask any OCR program to see why...
I have written a client that can read CDDB info as well as CDIndex info. Also, it can generate data files containing the info you need to put a CD in the CDIndex. e-mail me via the link at the page I mention below for the secret key:-)

Take a look over here...
Reminds me of a story my gf told me once...

You mean it's listed as fnordtrootkitfnord?
a) was badly positioned in the first place;
It's excellently placed... All their crops get the most sunlight, and the village is quite cool in the summer...
Reminds me of the time I saw an ad for a HDD that had an average seek time of 30 Ms... Yes, it was a long time ago, how did you guess?
Yes, women play DnD too...
:-)

And, we get together again this friday again!

Point to my 'Audio utilities for the blind' to find the latest executable.
It's called PlayCD (duh!).
I'm sorry, I didn't update the source yet (I just had enough time to compile and upload...)
