Horseshit. The popularity of the DVDs did, as so many other wise sages who have replied before me have mentioned. Do you really think TV execs care about people who don't directly contribute to their revenue? They think (and they're right) that Internet users are stealing their shows. They don't give a fuck about what Internet users think about shows, they care about what paying customers think.
Do you work for Mailboxes Etc.? I used to, and our dream was to one day send something out SonicAir. Nobody ever did. One mention of the price tag, and that idea was out of the question. But after that job, at my new job, Dell once sent us something Sonic Air. I showed my boss the receipt, and she was happy to see that people do occasionally use the service.
I quit the service after they switched. The whole benefit, to me, of Emusic was to check out music that I was unfamiliar with. I don't want to pay for stuff that may suck. Wasn't worth it for me.
If current markets aren't working for you, just buy the CD and rip it. I think you already know this will work, but for some reason you won't do it. Your loss. Until Germany starts its own version of Itunes Music Store, you're out of luck. Grow a pair and buy the CD.
It is science. It was a theory which people have tried to prove, some using the scientific method, which now has been proven to be a hoax. As long as theories are being tested with proper methodology, it's science. Jane Goodall, a scientist, was quoted as saying that she's still open to more facts on Bigfoot. She didn't immediately dismiss all Bigfoot sightings as hoaxes, as you seem to be doing with your flippant post.
It's too bad Doom 3 won't have cooperative play when it ships. I had a very good time running around Doom's levels with friends, and I'd like to be able to do it again with the new game. The good thing is, id can always put co-op play in in a patch. They add features a lot with their patches, hopefully they'll add this once they get a little less busy getting the game shipped. I bet they just wanted to focus on the single-player game first.
Yeah, no kidding. My cousin's got this, and to be honest, he just seems like a normal high school geek to me. I mean, shit, half my friends in high school had this if it's a real disorder.
Seriously, smoking pot is social, and it's easier to be social when you're stoned. People will be more receptive to your wacky ideas and mannerisms. Stoners tend to be more accepting, also, since they're not part of the cool kids' club. At least they weren't when I was in school.
The only problem, of course, is that you can't just go up to minors and say "Hey, you ought to start smoking pot. It'll be good for you!" and pass him a joint. But I stand by my theory.
Look, if you're not going to discipline your kid, don't be surprised if he learns the hard way. It's not like the guy even hit the kid, he just put a bit of realism into the kid's vandalism spree. It's a sad world when parents defend their kids' vandalism.
yes... what is it with nurses who smoke? I also know vascular surgeons and respiratory therapists(!) who smoke... boggles the mind. I love seeing health care professionals smoke. It provides a nice counterbalance to the massive amounts of anti-smoking advertising I see on TV. Some people know the risks, and just don't care. That's their right, they aren't afraid to die. I admire that. And no, I'm not being facetious.
Oh, I've heard insightful questions, this just isn't one of them. An insightful question has to bring a new idea to the discussion, this unfortunately does not.
Yeah, no kidding. I think I'm going to go and change my preferences so they don't show all this law stuff. A bit is interesting, but when you have simoniker posting three law articles in a row, fuck it, I don't need that. If I cared that much about law, I'd be a lawyer.
OK, but where's the insight in asking why the USTA said the statement they did? Now if the USTA was on Slashdot and clarified their position, there's some insight.
Not the worst game, just the game that sunk Atari. They vastly overestimated the demand for the game and made way too many cartridges. I used to have the game, and there were worse games. ET wasn't super fun, but I beat it, it was moderately fun.
Yes, you are misreading it. The game where he's talking about the White House and defending America is his new terrorism game, not NARC. The "Here" in "Here, you're defending America" is referring to Target: Terror.
Just keep in mind that the quote you put in your post wasn't Jarvis, it was/.'s own Sheetrock. All he's saying is he wants the main character to be doing the right thing. "To me, it is a little troubling -- maybe I'm just kind of old-fashioned -- to have the player take on an amoral role in a game. I feel strongly that the player should have a cause and be acting for the just." -Eugene Jarvis
The first two movies didn't win as many Oscars because the LotR crew asked the Academy to wait, and to treat the trilogy as one movie. I remember reading about it back when the first movie came out.
The Post office IS a monopoly. No one is allowed to send mail under $0.50 to post boxes. Not because they won't be able to compete, but because the government says so. Just because it's not a necessarily 'evil' monopoly, its ineffeciencies justify its liquidation.
The USPS owns those mailboxes. Other companies are more than welcome to convince people to install separate boxes for the competitive service if they want to. Newspapers do this in some places, and Mailboxes Etc. (now "The UPS Store") has its own PO box substitutes in its stores. The problem is convincing enough people to set up their own boxes, hire enough non-USPS mailmen to get all the mail sorted and delivered, and keep it cheaper than the USPS can do it at. There's no laws saying you can't do this, as far as I know. But undercutting the USPS just isn't feasible. The underlying infrastructure of the US Post Office is too big and efficient to compete with. That's why you don't see competitors to the USPS. FedEx and UPS sort of compete, but they're smart enough to realize that you can't do it too well with everyday mail.
Yeah, they do that where I live too, but beer is never on sale with those cards. And besides, if you don't want them tracking your beer purchases, don't give them your card. You've got a choice.
You make a good point. The U.S. has the largest prison population per capita in the world. I'd say we're the least free, least law-abiding country in the world! At least the one with the most zealous police force. I'd say that Iraq might have us beat in the crime department right about now.

If you read further down, he clarifies this statement to mean legally downloaded. Re-read the comment.

Best comment I've seen in a while. Now that is insightful!

Mods, how is asking a question "insightful?" The answer might be insightful, but asking a question usually allows someone to gain insight.

What about all those switch commercials?

Why don't you reread the article, it's all laid out there in plain English. Oh wait, that's right, you were trolling. Way to go, you showed us.
