That's a load of sh*t and you know it. Why not put out the fire and then bill him for the $75? Having them show up but refuse to put water to flame is just plain mean on a level I don't quite have the words to describe.
And they *did* have to show up - to make sure the neighbor's houses didn't burn down. I'd say the FD should be on the hook for the cost of the house, reckless endangerment, and cruelty to animals.
It's not mean is just practical. The $75 is more like an insurance policy payment not the cost of fighting a fire. You would probably expect to be able to buy collision insurance after you wrecked the car and have them pay for the repairs if you just pay the premium. They showed up for the neighbors because they paid. The guy took a stupid chance and lost. It is a harsh lesson but that is the way it should be. In this rural 2 person + volunteers fire department, there is virtually no money to work with. If the FD was on the hook for the home then it would either have to disband and nobody would have fire protection or raise the fee of those that did to cover the dead beats.
Built specially for the transitioning Windows user. Built on Debian 5 stable core and KDE desktop and has all the basics in the live CD and an active support community. Most XP users I've exposed to it had no trouble getting getting things done on their own.
Of course you can. You just need to buy some minutes from their affiliate and call the number through them. I can't say how good the phone quality is though. I just use mine to call my cell phone to locate which cushion it is hiding under.
It's quite, close to the bed for a naps. The bathroom and kitchen are down right handy and I can work in shorts and a t-shirt. The dog loves to breakup the day with a little play and if it's nice outside I can move to the patio for some fresh air. I get way more work done than in the stupid work cubicle. Besides I have much better computers than my employer.
The Ubuntu development community is currently gearing up for the 8.10 release, codenamed Intrepid Ibex, which is scheduled for next month. Ibex will include GNOME 2.24 and lots of other new stuff.
The IT drones at my employer rigidly demand that all company machines must run IE6. They've coded all their intranet applications solely for that version and by god they will not budge. Firefox is forbidden as a "security risk" and no where to be seen is IE7. Fortunately for me I work on Linux based projects and and run what I please.
the fact airplanes have been and are still being covered with fabric. The current favorite covering material is unsized Dacron glued in place and heated to shrink to a tight fit before painting. This is undoubtedly what the BMW design team used. I suggest those interested in the fabric coverings check out information on home built aircraft for details.
of XP-Pro until it costs too much for anyone to buy. They've already moved the price of the retail pack to $299. While there are some discounted packages and OEM versions are around half the price it will surely see more increases as a way to get that pesky consumer to straiten up and get right with Redmond. That way they can just let it expire quietly.
before they plan?
With a fleet of vehicles their size, the time and money saved by planning routes that try to eliminate left turns means big savings. There, fixed it for you.
Somebody needs to use a spell checker. Something is either planned or unplanned. There is no "pre".
Gee, all those Microsoft drones in the IT department will have to do something other than productivity reduction. Maybe they can go into government service. I'm sure they'd fit right in.
An installer screws up? Gee whiz that never happens. PR drone spins something? How odd! Is there a debate on the meaning of the word fire? Does anybody care?
My guess these guys will find alien life everywhere they look. It's just nobody else does with the exception of other "true believers". The astrobiology gig is just great. You get paid for dreaming up hair brained scenarios, toss out some random scientific looking numbers and generally chat about alien life and nothing can be disproved. What a nice way to avoid doing anything useful or productive.
It reminds me of bubble memory technology from the early 80's. Back then a Multi-bus card had whole 512K of non-volatile memory for an 8086. Later versions got larger but the ever increasing density of eeprom/flash and disk media doomed it.
The primary purpose of attending university is to get an education, not 24/7 Internet access. I can and do restrict online access of the children at home. My house, my rules. The fact that some spoiled brats are whining about it just affirms the reasonableness of the rule. If you're going to pull an all night session it should be studying not gaming or web surfing.

Wake me when it's finished. Then I'll take a look and see how it stacks up against the competition.

Trac with Subversion on the back end. The built in wiki is right handy and there are lots of nice plugins help round it out.
If they made a decent web browser they could be back in the game!
Therein lies the flaw in your reasoning. If indeed.

How about Xspire? Seems to fit.

uncertainty and doubt. I have no hope though that a cure will ever be found for stupid.

With this as an example of the "unifying" of the European Union, I'd say the United States has very little to fear.
Ok, 244 are so far but they were probably bought it to make pirated copies of.
