Dave, watch the video again. One of the insurgents around the camera crew had an RPG. It is very clear that it is an RPG and not the cameraman. RPGs are not legitimate self defense weapons in Iraq. If you would like I can find you some still frames with the RPG highlighted to help you. Also, you can find the official report which has the developed last pictures from the cameraman, these pictures are of American troops, so I am guessing there were some nearby if he was able to photograph them.
Read up more on the audio recording. It wasn't faked, it was edited to remove silences and to remove background noises. Now you can site that the audio recording can not be conclusively attributed to anyone and that would be correct as it was an open radio channel.
The carpet bombing and artillery shelling of WWII had two effects. First it did reduce the ability to wage war through the destruction of industrial facilities. Also, since we were bombing the living crap (killing) civilians in their homes, it broke the will to fight of the civilian population. We tend not to do that anymore, so we are ignoring a major component of how wars are won due to us wishing it wasn't true.
Thank you, you described the real process of eviction. Currently I rent out two homes, and I can't believe the amount of crap people do to homes they don't own.
I disagree with you on equivilency of intellegence should equal equivilency in protection, mainly on the notion that I believe that merely being human genetically should give a certain set of rights above that of other species as long as there is a functioning brain (not nescisarily fully functional though). My reasoning behind this is to avoid medical experimentation upon children, but still allowing such on chimps.
You give a well thought out reply but you side stepped the main question on rights of the unborn vs animals by limiting yourself to just embryos. I agree that embryos are without thought, and are just lumps of cells that should not be given the rights and protections of a adult human. But what about a fetus that has developed a functioning brain and is able to live outside the womb (abiet with medical help)?
Another problem with your idea is that alot of unionized jobs would be displaced by your idea. Unforetunatly, most unions don't care about technological progress and efficieny, they care about keeping jobs and pay. If you want to see an example of this lookup what happened in the port of Los Angles when the shipping companies tried to automate some steps (big strike, brought shipping of goods to a standstill).
I think some species of ants could be considered war makers, it is truly impressive how much of the colonie's resources can be put forth in one direction.
I actually have been accused of being a socialpath in some of my polisci and phil. classes, but I usually get the grade I deserve. What I have found if you can intelligently defend your own arguement and inturn show the flaws of the opposing viewpoint in a respectful manner, it helps alot. What I see alot of people do when argueing viewpoints is, using the "because I believe so" reasoning.
I have actually had a crotch full of gasoline (gas tank vent failed + hot day = geyser of gas). It was absolutely excrusiateing pain, which only ended after I did a nut bath in the bathroom sink of the gas station.
I disagree, the guy next to me from Boliva was just naturalized Monday along with a girl from Guatemala who is in the same building. Both had a rather easy process of becoming citizens. How did they do it? They joined the military. Give up 3 years in your favorite branch and you get out with citizenship and a massive college scholarship(40-70k).
One problem that you are not taking into is how rural and isolated most of Utah is. For alot of the populace, they only have one or maybe two ISPs within local dial-up, and definitely only 1 broadband ISP.
The not playing with face cards is actually a carry over from other religions back in 1800s, when the families converted they would carry with them alot of their minor beliefs and traditions such as the not playing with face cards. Since Mormon families tend to be close-knit, the traditions have carried down with alot of the younger generations just assuming its LDS doctrine.
I did a lil bit of research on this to prove to my mother-in-law that face cards are ok.
If you believe in the death penalty, what is wrong with executing a mildly retarded person? Oliver Cruz had enough mental capacity (IQ between 63-83 according to the article you site) to commit the kidnapping, rape, and murder of 24-yr airwoman, he also had enough mental capacity to ask for forgiveness(aka he knew what he did is wrong). Cruz deserved to die. In fact I would say he got off pretty easy, as his death was painless other than the prick of the needle.
It really pisses me off to hear people cry for criminal, and completely forget how evil, barbaric, and without mercy the criminal acted to their victims.
One thing about your argument, these delegates are not goverment officials, so their is no constitutional arguement for not keeping their names and hotel rooms secret(sorry about the double neg). These are private citizens who are part of a political party that vote within their party to decide where their party is going.
When Indymedia's post preface's the information with:
"The earth is not dying, it is being killed. And those that are killing it have names and addresses." , "Supply anti-RNC groups with data on the delegates to use in whatever way they see fit." and "Shut down the RNC!"
there can be argued the case of voter intimidation. Would you be so cavalier if it had been the names of NAACP members who are trying to get out the vote?
Ok, a lil pet peeve of mine, shotguns can miss, especially at closer ranges. Check the shot patterns of your average turkey load at 15', its about the size of two fists.
Now, what I can suggest is choose a high capacity shotgun, like a mossberg 590 and train a fair amount, at least a few hours every couple of months.
If you want intimidation, the 590 is really is useful since it is pump action(very audible) and it can come with a bayonet lug.;)
You carried 150lbs of ammo? 15lbs of ammo means there will be at least another 50-70 lbs. of gear. Also, I doubt you carried 150lbs of gear, unless you guys really don't know how to pack right.
This feature will be most useful for a different kind of user than what you are most likely. Generally, the users you lock down the most are ones with high turn over rates (call center employees for example). People with something to lose, such as admin staff (secretaries) and knowledge workers, will have greater control over their own desktops.
Fair enough questions.
First of all the assault weapons ban did not ban machine guns (machine guns were banned back in the 1930s without special permit). The assualt weapons ban dealt with rifles that were semi-automatic(1 round fired per trigger pull) and met a certain physical characteristics. It banned rifles that looked "scary"(bayonet lugs, military looking stocks, magazines over 10 rounds). Now one thing to remember is these assualt weapons are no more lethal than normal semi-auto rifles, and the ban stopped the retail selling of new assult weapons. It did not stop the reselling of assault weapons that were already owned. Basically, the assault weapons ban was a "show" law that had no real impact on crime or violence.
Now, guns in the US are not just used for killing, though a large percentage are purchased with defence in mind. In the US, especially in rural areas, it is quite reasonable to have guns for both target and hunting purposes. I know of a bunch of families that would go shooting on the weekends as part of a family picnic. So it is not unreasonable with a society like that, to give away rifles with the purchase of another large item. I hope this helps( think of it like a bow and arrow, just more boom)
The reason we allow some people to spend more on campaign donations than others is because of two principles of American society. First, we are fairly capitalistic, which means we allow people to aquire and spend their own wealth as they see fit(yes, I know there are restrictions on what you can buy). Secondly, the first amendment protects the freedom of speech, especially political speech. Donating to causes you like is considered freedom of speech. Thus when you combine these two principles of our society, you get our current situation. As for companies donating, since you do not control the way the company is run (that belongs to the owner/board of directors) , you as the worker can only have a say about where your own personal donations go. If you want to talk about really corruption of campaign donations, look towards the unions. In some states, you are forced to join a union as part of the conditions of employment. As part of this forced joining, you are forced to pay union dues (which is basically taxes by a non-goverment entity). Then these union dues can be used to make campaign donations for things you are very personally against.
So you get someone who can memorize a list? Just what I want in a senior engineer. This is about as retarded as having people recite the 7 layers of the OSI model.
I see idealism is alive and well among our youth, that is a "good thing". However, I disagree with some of your points. Surveillance does work, as you can spot suspicous or troublesome behavior before it gets worse. I have seen first hand, while on a call at a cassino, how well a trained human eye can spot a person who is just "out of place". Now can that person still cause damage, perhaps, but it will most likely be far less than what would have been caused had they been able to get optimal placement. You state the main reason why dialogue doesn't work, all parties involved have to have honest intentions. Unforetunatly alot of people are seeking power and aren't above lieing and pretending to seek peace while waiting for war or resupply (North Vietnam is a good example). As for the Palestinians, they really need some high quality self reflection and perhaps realize that Israel isn't the only reason for their current state of being. If the palestinians put as much effort into education and self improvement instead of constantly trying to dismantle Israel they may actually get somewhere.

Nothing better than sane stock evaluations.
Non-citizens can't become commissioned or warrant officers, hence my stating to enlist.
