    Lucas has finally realized that a) he can't write dialogue and b) fight scenes require no dialogue*. Also c) sabrefights are flashy and expensive and people like them. Therefore d) look for lots of sabrefights.

    He's also realized that e) the great majority of his audience were fans of the originals and f) repeating yourself requries no creativity therefore g) he'll throw in as many references to the originals as possible. (Tatooine, the bots, Jabba, Chewbacca...)

    (*: however, the right dialogue can greatly improve a fight scene, especially a duel. See "I want my father back, you son of a bitch! ")

    There was already a case in the US of a 15 year old girl charged with: production and possession of child pornography and also with... child sexual abuse. In this case all the photos were of herself.


    Did they release her name? She's the offender (so they have to, Megan's Law) but she's the victim and a minor so she can't.

    Hmm. Furthermore, what if they put a restraining order on her? Imagine her being ordered to at all times stay 100 feet from herself...

    But what I'd love to be able to do is block/replace some images based on a previously marked image.

    Example: I'm really sick of seeing tubgirl. So the next time someone uses tinyurl or meta refresh or whatever to direct me to her, I right click the image and select "Mark this image as yucky". Firefox takes note. From then on, every time a website tries to send me tubgirl, Firefox refuses. Maybe it replaces it with a picture of a big smiley face. Even if they resize it to 99% or 101%, or do any other trivial modification to it.

    Their explanation: The planet textures used in Space Simulator are compiled from NASA photographs and reference material. The NASA data on Mercury is incomplete, covering only one hemisphere of the planet. One hemisphere was therefore intentionally left blank, reflecting this lack of data.

    Well, how inconsiderate of them. They should have put THIS SIDE INTENTIONALLY LEFT BLANK or something...

    We're also getting well into the hardware performance ranges where overclocking by even 10% is a major accomplishment that requires very serious cooling. It's not like the PII/III days when you could get as much as a 50% boost over the rated speed (rare, but it did happen.)


    Hey, the 50% oc is still possible. I have a P4 1.6 @ 2.4.

    Fortunately (or not) it will probably be my last Intel chip... between their plans for huge amounts of power thrown away as heat dissipation and LGA (seems overly complex, fragile and highly demanding of fine motor skills), I think they're majorly shooting themselves in the foot.

    Do AMD chips still roast themselves in seconds if the cooling fails?

    Seen it happen twice, once with a p4 and once with a p/166.

    Both times, the chip was just fine afterwards.

    Child Exploitation? Child Exploitation? This has about as much to do with child exploitation as it does with farming subsidies or strategic national defense. The only reason this has "Child Exploitation" in the title is so that Hatch et al. can demonize anybody who opposes this as "having voted against protecting children from exploitation".
