But you can learn more about the real Fukuoka city. I was there last summer and I have to say it's pretty cool. Well, maybe not as cool ask the bike.:-)
Hmm... sure is going to be a lot of storage on that camera. Now if you make that camera Wi-Fi enabled, you got yourself a home-brew Reality Television series you can stream on your website 24/7. Eat your heart out Girls Gone Wild.
Voodoo PC is overpriced. Any slashdot readers actually own one these things? From what my friend tells me it's real hot with the millionaire club folks in Cali. I guess when your wallet is lined with $1000 bills, dropping $5 to $10 thousand for a computer is a drop in the pond.
so they are passing the job to someone else? Is it just me or am I the only one smelling this? If the people in charge of providing "security" were actually thinking things through and wrote applications that did what it was meant to do, then perhaps we wouldn't have such an uncontrollable problem with constantly patching systems because of someone's all nighter.:-/
It may be true that men 18-34 are watching less TV, but I would suspect that these same individuals are bittorrenting more content from on-line sources, i.e. T.V. episodes or anime. Tracking these viewing habits will be very hard for the Nielsen's Ratings.
Heck, I know I'm watching the old episodes of A-Team from bittorent.:-) Go A-Team!!!
Oh, and let's not forget the few online TV channels that are available. Personally, I like the ones from Japan.:-)
As one muscle decreased strength, the other increased in size. And for this, the brain rewards us by making a better blender so that we do not need our jaws to eat. Perhaps this is Homer Simpson's dream come true: steak through a straw.... mmmm.... steakkkkk.
I for one would not buy an European version of Windows because I actually like Windows Media Player version 6.4:-) If they can unbundle WMPlayer 7.x, 8.x, or 9.x that'd be great:-) Just don't throw 6.4 away!!!
Anyone who relies on Google for authorative source of information needs to have their head examined. Google is a search engine, not an omniscient information source. After all, Google is in the business of Search Engine, which means they have every right to return results their clients would want you to see.
To help answer your question, I have done this before, though I did this with Caddy Shack:-)
What I had done was to use flaskmpeg to convert my DVD to divx. Of course you will have to DeCSS your VOB files first. The divx file that I had at the end was a divx 3.11 file that was around 450MB. I had shrunk the movie down to I think 640x480 and the audio I had used was just the divx audio, I think 44khz stereo at 128kbps. Originally when I had ripped the DVD I did not do this with the intention to rip into PocketPC or Windows Media. I only did the remaining because we had got in some new Dell PocketPC (Axim) and it had came with some 128MB Compact Flash cards so I figured I'd try to do something nifty with them.
I used the WM8 encoder, and through trial and error, I was able to compress the 1 hr 38 min movie down to a Windows Media 8 file of 96MB which fit perfectly on my compact flash. I had used a combination of paramters on that wm8encode application. I had the file compressed into 320x240 for the video resolution at 12fps. The audio I had encoded at 48kbps 44khz mono.
The Axim was able to play this file at full screen on its landscape. However, when you rotate the Axim screen, and I have seen this on the other PocketPC as well, the screen forms this really strange glare.
The Axim that I had was using the 400Mhz dragonball chip from intel and i believe that is what is shipped in a lot of the pocketpcs out there. The result video looked pretty good, and even at 12fps, it is actually pretty decent. Since the entire movie is only 96MB, and the audio is audible at 48kbps 44khz mono, it's not too shabby.
But I think even this file might be too much for your 200Mhz PocketPc... though give it a shot.
My parents still have our set from 1986. I'd definitely buy a set because there is just something better about having them...:-) It looks nice and fancy.
If they re-release the DVD I wonder if they will be cool like a lot of the new Japanese DVD and release a toy... say... hmm....*roll eyes*... Cat Bus?:-) Then I could have something nifty to put in my office.
I believe the Boxset is different than the DVD that I have.
The one that I have is this one. I had purchased it while I was traveling in Japan last summer and actually even bought a cheapo region 2 dvd player to ship home... hehe. (Yeah, I know it's pretty pathetic).
To give you an example, just a few minutes into the movie, when the girls arrive at their new home upon getting off the truck with their father, they venture to this stream where they see some fishe in the water. As the girls look down into the stream, the view is shifted so that what you see on the screen is just the fishes swimming in the stream, and the only audio is the water rushing through the bed. If you have the Japanese audio track enabled, this is what you hear. If you have the english audio enabled, however, they actually are speaking an additional lines which are not present in the Japanese audio track. Now, I don't know what all the legal mumbo jumobo is between Ghibli and Disney, but if that isn't changing the movie, then I don't know what is. I mean they are adding in lines into the movie that weren't there in the first place. I thought at first I was going nuts and there was a problem with my DVD player or my TV. After much investigation I found that the subtitles that were provided on the disc is indeed just the script for the english audio track. Thus, instead of watching subtitles for a supposed Japanese translation, I am merely reading the English Dub scripts. Perhaps the dub scripts are just as fine, with the added lines. But I am not certain. I will have to go back to my fansubs of Totoro which is now over 10 years old... lol.
If they remove Media Player, which in the case of XP both Media 6.4, 8/9 will be gone. I for one won't mind the fact that 8/9 will be gone, but 6.4 is till bey far the lightest and simplest media player for playing my collection of media. Its lightweight and small footprint is awesome and with a simple click of a button, you can go full screen, and it even plays playlists. Though the playlist feature is a bit clunky, but for the sheer size, and performance, I would think giving up 6.4 would be a bad idea. Putting in quicktime and Real would not solve the problems either because those players are just too much of a memory hog. Yuck.
But that's just my two cents since I am still using a stoneage of a computer clocking barely at 500MhZ:-)
I have about 7 region 2 Ghibli DVDs. They are cool. Except for Totoro. The english subtitles were not actually done by Ghibili, but instead, they are the actual scripts for the english audio tracks. The english audio tracks were ok, but unfortunately, the english audio track has added lines in places where there moments in the scene they felt "too quiet" so they added lines in. So when you watch the DVD with the Japanese audio and the english subtitles, you would see lines that you have no audio for. (BTW, this was done by Disney...blah).
Dang, I was suppose to go to Japan this month and now I am missing out some good live experience with these cool new PDAs.... grrrr. Anyone going to Narita any time soon to get a first hand experience and care to share with the rest of the/. community?

I like those pigeons :-)
IBM announced today that they will be offering more information on the architecture of its PowerPC and Power server chips to device makers and software developers. First software with Linux, and now hardward with their own Power Line. If intel can only do this for the Centrino line. :-/

Apparently you have not played ninja gaiden.

They will come.

Perhaps the 19% decline all went to the increase in business schools that have "information technology" as a major.
Mo money, mo problems.

I was going to say the same thing. I guess it updates in slashdot time: lagging like good old EFNet. :-)
Claim it on your 2004 tax return... :-)
How did we get our brakes locked up from the starting line?? UGH!!!
