    I'm glad Sony put motion sensitivity in their controller. Whether or not their version is inferior to Nintendo's, more game developers will be working on how to use the technology well. And that's good if you get a PS3 or a Revolution*.

    Having said that, however, Quoting Phil Harrison:

    I think (s)he was merely pointing out that All groups of people do certain horrible things. Some worse than others.

    And I say that's true. While not always happy about it, people can find a justification and generally accept some pretty harsh shit.

    Indeed in a century or two your culture, whatever it is, will be reviled for violating some rights that they will consider "fundamental". Chances are it'll be for something that even you accept. It will be called an "atrocity". They might be right.

    The spirit of the post as I read it was this: "Killing babies is bad, but stop being all high-and-mighty. Judge not lest ye be judged"

    The way I read the story, W didn't say anything. It was Stewart Baker, his newly appointed "Assistant Secretary of Nobody knows who I am or what my job is; not that it matters because I'm probably just as qualified as Michael Brown so I won't really be doing much anyway."

    I seem to have gone off on a tangent. Anyway. It wasn't the President who "told them off" in a fairly nice way.

    No, it doesn't. This is currently provided by the Lunar Eclipse project . . .


    That's not really block selection though, is it? Block selection is drawing a selection rectangle on the text and then being able to directly edit that block by typing or pasting some text. The Lunar Eclipse plugin doesn't get you a selection block on the screen that makes it obvious what you're selecting. It also doesn't let you directly edit the (unseen) block. You have to invoke a dialog to do anything.

    It's better than nothing--which is what eclipse has now. However, it's not what people expect when they ask for block/column mode selection.

    Uhm. So Apple isn't marketing Motorola's phones for them. Motorola is responding by NOT showing their phones at a tech show, that is, they aren't marketing their phone at a tech show.

    Motorola is "punishing" Apple for not marketing Motorola's phones by... not marketing the phones??? That's bizarre to me.

    Why is this Apple's job anyway?

    They've been discontinued for, what, 4 years now? Maybe people still pay a premium because it was discontinued. If that's the reason then in the interests of your dream, I hope they don't discontinue the Mac Mini.

    Yah, I saw about 60 seconds of that bloody farce. I flipped in long enough for some bimbo to say "my goal next year is to learn to play one video game. ONE!" Then I flipped to something else.

    WTF!! How much credibility can an award have when its participants don't even partake in the art being awarded. Then again, Ashlee Simpson RECIEVED a Billboard Award so I guess a little integrity is too much to ask from awards distributors.

    I imagine they're protecting themselves from the mindset exemplified by the Parents Television Council. That is, the people with views opposite all these AC posters are advocating censorship. I don't mind the mod system but it does get abused. The type of person to abuse the mod system by modding someone down simply based on a difference of opinion is definitely going to have a difference of opinion with these ACs. It looks like their fears are unfounded though. I haven't seen unfair moderation in this story. Didn't look very hard though.

    That said: karma isn't everything.

    Yah, I used to live in Kennesaw. When I was in high school my jackass friend shot out our neighbor's basement window with a bb-gun.

    Then my jackass neighbors called the cops instead of confronting us themselves. On that day the cop informed us all that it is illegal to fire any projectile weapon in the city limits of Kennesaw. Including guns, bb-guns, blowguns, bow-and-arrow, . . .

    I was confused since is manditory under the law that you keep a firearm in your home if you live in Kennesaw. Hooray for the crazy interactions of crazy laws.
