  1. Side note... best computer remote? on In Search of the Best Programmable Universal Remote? · · Score: 2

Slightly off topic - but I am looking for a good remote to control my computer. I currently pipe the video and audio to my TV/stereo so I can either listen to MP3s or watch VCD/DVD/DivX (I don't have a standalone DVD player). I would prefer an RF remote. Is there any out there that have a small joystick that emulates a mouse? For example, the Book PC has a remote with a mouse pointer on it, but I don't think it is sold seperately.

Bombing terrorists groups now may result in allies viewing US actions in a negative fashion. If Bin Ladden is shown to have had a role in this then I would give Afganistan a brief time to turn him over. If they didn't then the US should "ride into town, and kick some bad-guy ass".

I am glad to see Nato and many of its members stepping in with support for the US.

It was interesting to watch newly posted links successively become bogged down. It took me a while to be able to find a working video feed of the event. I got the latest news from my wife at home who was watching regular television.
This event has really tested the ability of the Internet to handle news.

Up until all CDs are sold with this encoding scheme. I don't see where the proprietary scheme would be ruled illegal. I think she has a case in the fact that the CDs should be marked as such. Most CDs today are playable in CD-ROM drives and consumers expect this type of compatability. I would hope the court would force the record companies to clearly indicate that the CD is not a standard CD (even if there is a means of making the CD compatible with CD-ROM drives via a codec/driver download).

    2) Some expansion (1 PCI or ISA slot) for a little customization. For example, I would like to get a small unit to hookup to my digital piano via MIDI. A laptop wouldn't do since the MIDI voices that are on typical laptops are good enough.

    3) Finally, flat screen is a must for me. I don't want a bulky monitor in my entertainment center or on top of my digital piano.

For purposes of this subsection, the term "information security" means activities carried out in order to identify and address the vulnerabilities of a government computer, computer system, or computer network.

Does that mean that the law doesn't apply to the government? The paragraph says "does not prohibit..."; does not prohibit from what? Does not prohibit from using anticircumvention devices for investigation? If so, that throws out using ROT-13 to hide my sensitive data from government authorities. I would have hoped that wrapping my (copyright by default) data in simple encryption that the data could not be used against me if it was obtained without a warrant. Wasn't this what Aimster was trying to do?

However, I had numerous driver problems/conflicts and had to eventually drop to WinME. I lost the ability to have larger than 4GB files (something that Win2K would have given me). I didn't mind much since Matrox said they were working on it. Then a few months later they announced they were dropping MJPEG support from Win2K (as you mentioned).
