Me and my wifey are swingers and have been to many many "gang bangs" as you describe them. It's totally normal to us and a lot of fun. How many married men get to bonk beutiful women without fearing the repercussions? -- If you mod me down, I *will* introduce you to my sister!
1) I still though DevFS was cool 2) I still thought 2.6.x was a little flakey 3) I didn't know about the XFree86 problems
I don't know what I've been doing for the past 4 years, I found a post of mine from 2000 saying how I'd recompiled my kernel. 5 years ago. Now I'm afraid to touch the damn thing cause it might break.
As for BBC's "interactive" output - I'm sure I heard they were canning the iTen? Regardless, they can't increase output on DTT as they haven't got the space. Perhaps the 7th satelite mux will be extra "interactive" stuff, but most people seem to agree it's going to be for HDTV tests.
Of course since Slashdot is already available from their default list of technology sites, why would you need the ability to include an RSS feed?
Because we want to subscribe to a tech site that mentions the shuttle has successfully launched for the frist time in over 2 years? It's on the front page of the BBC, why not slashdot?
You would need 6 capture cards - one for each MUX, IIRC that's arround 125Mbit/second, or 40TB for a months worth, before any compression, which would require £10k of disks alone, minimum.
Compression would be unfeasable as you'd have to compress 30 mpeg streams simultaneously, that's a lot of expensive hardware.
Miners were starved into submission with refusual of welfare aid
They weren't available for work, they weren't disabled or otherwise unable to work. They made a lifestyle choice to not work, why should they get any money for it?
I just heard some sad news on talk radio - notorious spammer Vardan Kushni was found dead in his Moscow home this morning. There weren't any more details. I'm sure everyone in the Slashdot community will miss him - even if you didn't enjoy his work, there's no denying his contributions to popular culture. Truly an American icon.
Given the ratings for shows like Celebrity Wrestling, I'd argue a lot of people are Vegetables.

BBC News made the same goof when they launched their TOG system in 2003 - small globe in the background behind teh clock at the left of the lower-third of the screen.
Still no advertisers. The "shareholders" don't have any choice in the matter. The government don't need a review every tten years, just a fake inqury from a corrupt judge.
Mark Thompson ignores them all anyway. He's too busy taking a major bite out of the people that actually do the work, in favour of 16 layers of management.
Not really 1) An internet identity allows you to link one post to another 2) The OP's website states he's Frank Earl, the CTO of Coollogic, you can contact him in U.S. Buisness hours at (USA) 972.590.5700, he's also involved in half-a-dozen OSS projects. He lives in Texas, in or near Dallas.
Thank god, the only place on the surface of the planet that you don't get "I'M ON THE TRAIN! I'LL BE HOME IN FIVE MINUTES! I'M GOING TO SHOUT ABOUT MY BORING LIFE"
Instead you get deathly silence and no eye contact (it's illegal y'know)

Does your sister swing too?
Funny? Seriously, I've used pretty much the exact lines showing unix to some collegues. It puts them off for life, meaning I get more job security :)
I've missed a lot in recent years :(

Every little helps.

What happened to "Mandrake"?
IIRC 1 and B are BBC, 2 has ITV and Channel 4, but five is on A.
You could strip some of the timesensitive information out (MHEG data, 701/702 etc) to reduce bitrate even more
Why only 3 muxes? Which ones? 1,2 and A? MPEG 2 is compressed, but you can recompress to a lower bitrate for the storage vs processing tradeoff.

As the son of one of those (now ex-) coal miners
you naturally have an unbiased view then

Imagine an American media company pursuing this project. That's not even science fiction, it's fantasy.
BBC doesn't have to answer to shareholders or advertisers. Just a manicidal boss that bites co-workers.

Plug in your 911 phone, turn off the ringer. No problem for outgoing calls, no interruptions for incoming.

You'd poke your eye out. Always terminate fibre, and always wear eye protection.
