I've seen a precious few games do it right. Play all the intros (SIX OF THEM in the worst cases) only first time, including an opening cinematic, then every time after it goes straight to the menu.
Having to skip each animation individually is also a crime I think should be punishable by severe flogging. Thank goodness for cracksites that actually make the games I *paid for* playable! Remove the silly copy protection that takes 20+ seconds to verify before the actual game starts loading, off with all intros, or turn them into 1-second stills and so on.
I signed up for FWD just for kicks, after I found that KPhone also can work with their network. Then I switched to VoIPalk.org, and can call a POTS number as long as there's credit on my account. Shame it's in the UK, so Scandinavian phonecalls can get a bit expensive. Works great for me, though, until the local VoIP companies start supporting KPhone/X-Lite:)
What about Yu? Wasn't he a more recent ruler in Asia? He was also a more reasonable goa'uld, so it would make sense if he went to Earth after the brats packed their larvae and left.
> Documentation is time consuming and not very rewarding for coders.
I'm a freak - I document my work. Userspace or dev docs both get more than just automatic HTML- ification; I take time to explain a little. I've found it very rewarding when I see a stub of a function, wondering exactly *why* I started on it, then look it up in the docs I wrote. My documentation is where I put my planning, too.
Now, I just need to remember to change the docs when My Vision changes;)
I will buy this IF there is a DVD edition sold near me. I bought Silent Hill 3 because they were wise enough to release it on DVD, too.
Pretty much every computer sold here, including laptops, come with a DVD drive, so why haven't games already started being on DVD? It should have happened years ago!
(And please use that extra space to include a higher quality version of any pre-rendered movies:)

I've seen a Linux-based home theatre PC (HTPC) that might work as a base: http://johan.sunset-utopia.homeip.net/htpc. html
It's got emulators, DVD/VCD playing and other necessities. Necessary if you're an utter geek, that is:)
I love all this. Circus SCO is sure to keep me smiling for a long time! Is there an online betting site where you can guess what hilarious new things SCO will do next?:)

I hope you wrote this two years ago:)
Just get any one of the neat P2P tools available now, and you can get everything. Anime, latest cinema releases, obscure animation and independent movies..at 330MB per hour, my movie collection grows. And I don't even need to be a "known player" to the ones who share.
Just a suggestion for translation: I *think* Lagmannsretten would equate to "People's Court" in other countries, although the translation is something like "lawman's court".
Actually..PS2 and XBOX games ARE readily available on certain P2P networks. Yes, DVD-sized games. Not that I have one to download anything for, mind you..
The rivalry nowadays seems mostly to be Swedes
making fun of Norwegians (knowing Norway is slightly
better;). Why else would so many people move to
Norway to set up shops?
I agree with an earlier poster that the watch would have
been cooler if it displayed hex, though..

I wondered about that myself when I first read
the name of this daemon yesterday. I did the
Norwegian translation of the bot, so I sure do
remember good, ol' Dancer;)
ION looked nice at first, but I found that I need to do
side-by-side comparisons fairly often. If our screen
were 4096x3072, we could use the window manager's
functions to sort everything side-by-side..till then, I'll be
using overlapping windows for my development work.
Actually, the diffs *are* like CVS. Get every patch that
has a higher number than the kernel you are using to
get to the latest. Note that the Alan Cox series are NOT
incremental. You only need the latest there.
Phew. I'm happy to see I'm not the only one who
listened to "I don't wanna grow up" one time too
many!

Blatantly illegal, for the most part
English speakers are just that. Not writers.
Illiteracy is widespread in the UK and Ireland.
Particularly Ireland.
GITS has two things in common with Akira - :)
it made me fall asleep, and it has a great
soundtrack. Buy the soundtrack, but watch Cowboy
Bebop instead

I remember the original Tomb Raider on PSX.
:)
That was huge. I used to wonder how they crammed
these gigantic levels into a Playstation's memory.
Then they released a sequel with even larger boobs
AND levels
So not all console games need to be dinky.
Hmm..Mr. Jones, what *are* you entering into the
kernel during those late-night coding sessions?

The internal name for those little red mouse-

Awrighty! I never noticed the option for tiling/split view. :)

I personally know someone who had a 1.2GHz T-bird
that he started up just after buying it. Without a heatsink
or fan. It melted in four seconds.
