    is still the most reliable for me. When the power goes out (often), I still have my phone working and can even use dial-up to send a quick email. The technology is very simple and super reliable, so it won't go away anytime soon.

    I think you can still get quite a bite for it on Ebay. I've been shopping for a new/used powerbook and it amazes me to see how much people are paying for used powerbooks (Which makes it hard to get a good value!)

    The device uses USB 1.1 which is painfully slow to manage songs IMHO.

    I think that Linux and OSX can coexist and both grow together. The key is to loosen the Windows hold and open up possibilities for alternative platforms.

    It just sounds clunky and trite to me. How many times has the word vista been used in marketing already? I think even xp2 would have been a better name. Oh well, maybe with enough exposure and marketing, Vista will start sounding better to me:)

    Why do people write poetry or write stories? You do it for the love of it. It is your passion and your hard work that you want to show the world. To me it is a form of artistic expression. That's why there are some many flavors of Linux and BSD.

    This is another tool that will help more people adopt OSX. From the information I've gathered from Apple, it seems that there are a lot of visual tools to help a person keep track of their projects (great for me). Also the database tools are quite impressive. We just have to wait and see how "free" this really is, but it is wonderfu to have access to it without having to pay for it.

    could you please be more specific. when and where did he let Osama go? If you are going to make such charges, you better have some proof or at the very least some credible sources. I believe it was the Bush administration who didn't heed Clark's warnings nor read his reports. Maybe we should have elected a president who likes to read!

    So why are we stuck with basically QWERTY, mouse, D-pad, and a "handful" of variations and combos? Because it is very difficult to break old habits. I is hard enough for the average computer user to switch from Windows to Mac, or Linux where the user interface across these platforms are very fimiliar, let alone have people get used to a new keyboard layout. I have been tempted to try a different keyboard, but my fingures have a mind of their own that will be very hard to retrain -- old habbits are hard to break.

    I know all of people who just don't know that there is an alternative to Windows. Sure they have heard of Apple, but for some reason they don't see as a real alternative because they just don't see does computers in their daily lifes. At School they see Windows, at school they See Windows, at the near by Walmart or Best Buy they see Windows. So alternatives are not easily had.

    Exactly, most internet users are not free-loaders they already pay a lot of money to access the internet and expect something for that money in return. For example, I pay $42.00 for internet access and I pay $42.00 for cable TV. I expect to get something for the money I pay. Would people subscribe to cable if they had to pay for each additional channel on top of the base charge? Would people pay for internet access if they had to pay another fee for each website? I think the answer is probably NO. Let the Major ISP setup a fund to help subsidize content.

    An OS is a living and constantly evolving being(unlike *certain humans*), therefore it is going to be continually updated. A Modern OS is modular, so this is not a path, but rather, just another piece to make it more complete. So be happy, download it, and enjoy the ride!

    Here is information on CDFS :http://www.elis.rug.ac.be/~ronsse/cdfs/ Windows can mount this file systems, and so does Linux. Just burn the cd and it should mount on your favorite platform. Try it, then complain, if it doesn't work! Just relax and burn :)

    It writes CDFS discs that can be read by windows 95 and up. Try it, it works! Now you don't have to worry about different formats anymore.

    Poeple don't like to change their habits, so Apple helps them do it. Remember all the slack that Apple got for removing the Floppy Drive? Getting rid of legacy serial ports and going with USB only? People grumbled for a little while and realized, hey, Apple made the right move for me. In the end most people will be glad that they switch to OS X , or should I say, that Apple made them switch. You can always buy an older Mac on E-bay and run OS 1.0 - 9.0 until the end of time as you know it. I love change bring it on......
