This is why I shop with WinCo, an employee owned and operated grocery store that does not use discount cards. In fact, they don't even take credit/debit cards. Cash, Check and Foodstamp only. The store pictured on the website actually happens to be the one I shop at. As mentioned by other people, if there's a company that is doing stupid crap, take your business elsewhere. Money talks to corporations.
I'm suddenly reminded of the scene from Dennis the Menace where Mr. Wilson's prized flower is about to bloom and Dennis comes in yelling that Mr. Wilson's been robbed.
Typing (for me) is still far faster than writing. I don't have problems with cramping or messy hands. With common words, when I know exactly what I want to say, it's faster than speech. I know I'll get a +5 Nerd for this, but there are times when I IM someone across the room simply because it's better for reasons of efficiency, organization of thoughts, or attention-getting (i.e. headphones being on). Keyboards will always have their place, IMO. Just as a pen and paper still has its place.
I tried running it under WineX (Cedega) and it just went into an infinite loop loading. I tried installing win2k on a partition to run it, and the installer BSoD'ed. Too afraid to try it on my laptop.
I've done that in all seriousness when someone asked if I had change for a twenty. I started saying it then realized what I was saying and looked like a moose in headlights.
Ohhhh, I so wanted to see pictures of the rotating penguin. Also, the idea of selling a hard drive with linux preinstalled is really cool. I like it. They should have one of these in my town! Especially if they had random linux gear ala thinkgeek. Oooh, and a wifi-enabled cafe-type-place.... mmmmmmmm. (Hey.. they have a linux-run carwash already)
I concur with this statement. Closed-source drivers are a PITA to deal with. I'd happily dump my ATI card and get an S3.. even if it was somewhat inferior in terms of performance, just so that I could not have to deal with installing yet another program every time I recompile my kernel. Plus being open source and all, a lot of performance could probably be gotten through various optimizations over time.
I couldn't find a working SMTP server. My ISP (comcast) didn't work, and they now block port 25 so I can't use my own. Since the script doesn't support servers requiring authentication, I guess I'm SOL.
It's not like the crowds don't act like robots already....

why do you think it takes so long to load?
I got my money....
Install an SSH Server on the windows machine, use SHFS to mount the remote filesystem to a directory, then use rsync to copy it.
AMD Athlop XP (Barton) 2800+
MSI K6TV Mobo
2x 256mb Micron PC2100 DDR
ATI Radeon 9200
1x 120 GB Samsung 5400 RPM IDE
3x 160 GB Maxtor 7200 RPM SATA
NEC ND-1300A DVD+/-RW
It's not crap hardware, win2k just BSoD'ed when I gave it a non-empty partition, and I'm not in the mood to mess with it.

How long till a Linux binary appears?

So long as copyright law exists, you are a pirate because you choose to steal rather than use free or Free software.

at least that much could be implemented by someone in the open source community.

open source video drivers? I'm sure the underdog would be more than happy to please.
Microsoft is dying.
ummm. radio stations west of the mississippi rivir use K for their callsign. Not w. Nice try.
Sweet! Now we have something to play besides warcraft 3, breakout, super breakout, and photoshop!
linky for the humor impaired
based on information from the thread above, it would seem that this basis of reasoning would make the Patriot Act Unconstitutional.
