I'd at least give the guy who agreed that your point was valid a couple of -1 idiot posts; come on, you know you're supposed to ARGUE to the dying end around here.
At least that is what it feels like sometimes.
NEVER ADMIT SOMEONE ELSE'S VIEWPOINT IS BETTER should be the theme on Slashdot.....
Bad part is is that the older they get, they still trash talk.
I am part of a clan in ut2k4 and it impresses me how much people spout shit about others in teamspeak and on the console. I guess some people like being "competitive" like that. Personally, I have no need for it.
I think the term "amputate" means that a doctor in a hospital (or someone with instruments of the doctorly type) would be performing the limb seperating.
I doubt you can count the people who died and lost a limb at the same time; they wouldn't count, right? I guess, unless we have a given of this Shunt actually saving the life (and limb) of a person who is in critical condition on the battlefield.... is that what you're trying to say?
Can't windows connect to an Airport Extreme? If so, I'd see it as no different than an issue with any other home networking gear. Doesn't matter what's on the other side of the router; having it in the DMZ is pretty foolish from a network administration point of view (yup, I'm a network admin.)
I don't believe the issue with the new Airport has anything at all to do with the 802.11n spec - it seems to be an internal routing functionality issue.
In Airport Utility, double-click on the AEBS. In the popup window, click on Internet. Then click on NAT. Check "Enable default host" and set the IP address to what the AEBS has given to your mac.
The Nortel VPN client then works (at least for me anyway - It didn't work before I tried this).
According to the help for the Airport Utility, "A default host is a computer on your network that is exposed to the Internet and receives all inbound traffic." This obviously doesn't sound like a permanent solution but it is definitely a workaround of sorts.
So one recommendation/workaround is to put the device in the DMZ? That's a horrible workaround. Once your VPN connection is up, if it's smart it will disable any other traffic than destined for that VPN connection (and vice versa) but you're still exposed until you get the tunnel running. And that still doesn't eliminate any buffer/driver exploits...
My parents had a problem with their garage door opener. Turns out, if you were in your socks (or less, depending on the age of the kids running around) you could get a pretty good jolt from the garage door RAILS coming down the side of the opening.
Tested with a volt meter, got anywhere between 60-130v rail-to-ground. And it was intermittent.
Upon unplugging the garage door opener, the voltage went to nothing. So, I asked him "Who wired that outlet?" He responded that he had wired the outlet, and was sure that there was a ground wire hooked up. So, I took the volt meter and hooked from ground on the outlet to ground on the ground strap of the breaker box. No connection.
Once he re-wired the socket, we had no further issues with the door rails. However, it's funny to mention that he had two seperate electricians out, and they couldn't figure out why there would be voltage on the rails. I'm guessing they were making the same assumption that my father did - that the ground in the box was actually hooked up properly.
Now, the guy in the blurb may have a good case against Dell, but I'd be curious to see where the laptop is being plugged in to, and if there's any relevance to shocks at that point. I know my house was built a long long time ago (1951) and the upstairs, while someone put in grounded outlets, it doesn't physically have the ground hooked up - due to the wiring used at the time of it being built.
And this explanation above is exactly why the common consumer could give a shit about.ogg
When someone talks about YouTube at work, I know they don't care about the codec or container. That's why ogg needs to be simpler name-wise.
Seriously though, I understand that it has it's uses, but for the "present time", mp3 is where it's at. Hopefully this chip makes a dent, but I'd bet money that mp3 will remain the name of the game for music for the masses for years to come.
6) Final Fantasy X - I got stuck at the first, whatever that sport thigy was, match. Or shortly thereafter.
I played through X, and found out how badly I suck at that stupid BlitzBall matches. Tip: You don't really need to compete in any to get through the game; had I known that the first time I wouldn't have wasted ANY of my time on it. Felt like I was swimming through slime, the controls were so bad....
I understand the sentiment towards the school and all, but only charging full retail price?
If you go and shoplift (I know, physical stuff here...) you'll get dinged for a fine + the value of the goods stolen. And you don't get to keep the goods.
Incentive to not do it again is the key when you get caught doing something illegal....
Got my first experience on the 360 using bloom. As a side note, I don't plan on purchasing a current-gen console, since I just sank 1200$ into a dual core machine for my pc gaming. However, I was at a friend's house, and one of the games he had was Project Gotham. Similar in playability (at least my brief tour) to GT4 and it's ilk, I was having a blast tearing up my "host's" times.
Got to the end of a straight stretch where you play for about 20 seconds under a bridge covering, and WHAM. Bloom. What the fuck? Why did you just temporarily blind me? Even if I was ready for it (as I tested with another run on the track) it was still just an annoying trick.
I know that PG was a launch title, but come on... I can't believe that something like that would be popular. That fucking hurt. And it was only a 24" screen!
In the off chance that you dial 911 and can't effectively tell the other person where you are due to:
1. Having your face smashed in from that drunk who decided you'd be a good punching bag. 2. Being a tourist and having no clue where you're at. 3. Being in a position to not revealing you actually dialed 911 (store worker during a robbery?)
There's times where it'd be useful. And in a panic, I don't know if I could give someone exacting directions to where my current location is (for instance, if my wife was having a heart attack etc....)
I think one of the problems you have if you truly are in a company with a staff like this is that:
1. The people who want to sincerely move ahead will become bored and leave. 2. The people who want to screw off will stay.
Now, this causes a problem come time for layoffs. Then you have a situation where you get rid of the most underachieving people there are, but you still have less than stellar people doing the IT work. And now you have less of them.
I was able to move myself into a posiiton in my organization to where I could do decent interesting work. The original position I was hired in for got dumbed down, but given the choice, there were other avenues to pursue in the company. There was a time I'd spend all day browsing slashdot - now you'll find me on weekends or after hours trying to get some quick news in.

Hopefully Jack's dad doesn't go off and kill him too.
Ok, let's look at the title:
Illinois Bill Would Ban Social Networking Sites
Not bad, can incite conversation.
Here's what I'd put down as the title:
Illinois Bill Would Ban Social Networking Sites in Public Libraries and Public Schools
That makes a little more sense, and doesn't say "GTFO" for you browsing at home.

I'll bite.

From the link; use the "default host" option:

That's just... ick.
and I could see the squirrels, and they were married,
Either you cut-and-pasted, or you have a really weird sense of squirrel "happiness."

I live in Pittsburgh.
About now is where the mechanic comes out, stating "I think I found yer problem. Right thar."
I kid, but I used to live in PA (a bit more rural than Pittsburgh) and loved it.

Sucks that I can't even cheating.

You aren't kidding about bloom.

No, because it's incredibly fucking nerdy. And annoying.
News for ______. Fill in the blank, and welcome.
For this "demo" you only get to play as the centipede and the "twirly-cell" characters.
I didn't play through the 2nd time completely, but that's what I've read.. Definitely an interesting game nonetheless.
You forgot BROWN!
r een/white-brown/brown -> 568b
and orange.
Shoot.
white-orange/orange/white-green/blue/white-blue/g
No, the grandparent to this post is stating that you should specify the card to only accept "infrastructure" connections.
That will bypass any ad-hoc connections presented to the wireless card/utility. And if you're using an ad-hoc network in your business.... ew.
Star Trak III sounds like a cheap version of exercise machine.
It'll be "Extreme Plus High Speed Broadband EX + Alpha."

:)
Shit, I'm trying to wrap my head around whether that's an upgrade from 7.1 or a downgrade
