i typed this with dasher and it only took ten minutes i guess about the time it takes to wank off though it kind of ruins the concentration oh no where is the punctuation
I was probably 4 or so when it came out. It freaked the bujeezus out of me, I remember being scared by one of the aliens pulling off a human face to reveal a lizard head underneath. But after rewatching a small bit of it (I think the tail end of it) a couple years ago, I realized how terribly corny it was. Ahhhh... closure.:-P
the device clearly states NOT to twist the boobs (for lack of a better word) like dials, but to slide them around. I also recommend this when dealing with women - most tend not to like their boobs being twisted.
that the only intuitive interface is the nipple, and that everything after that is learned. Therefore, I suggest someone come up with a computer interface device that is a nipple one puts in one's mouth, and sucks and bites in various ways. Uh, yeah, thats it.
Oh I also wanted to add that other facts of the universe as we know it, like physical constants such as the speed of light, may be purposly added limitations. The speed of light may be so small as compared to the distances between stellar bodies, and the requiring more and more energy to hit the speed of light or come close to it, may be the system's way of keeping us earth-bound.
Of course, it's probably all just coincidence =]
(also, I appologize for spelling errors in my previous post or this one)
well, youre argument assumes that all parts of the word at the highest levels of detail must be modelled, but this isnt necessarily so. Even rooms or other types of areas that arent currently inhabited with humans (if our minds are the only real things in our Matrix) need not be drawn at all until they are needed.
Think about how 3D games work... they draw only what is immediately seem (experienced) by the player. Similarly, one would save a lot of processing power overall by not rendering (calculating physics, lighting, etc) fo that which is not seen.
For viewing things like atomic interactions and such, that could be modelled fairly easily too, because we dont DIRECTLY experience these things, we view them through screens via electron microscopes, etc.
The nature of our world actually lends itself to being a simulation - there is a limited (not infinite) detail to matter in the universe, which may corrospond to how small the numbers the matrix processors can compute (in real time, without using tricks, which may cost cycles).
If you're interested and haven't seen it, check out the simulation argument page (though I think his premise that our descendants - human or robot - would want to run simulations of their ancestors, is flawed).
saw Animatrix last week (thank you, eDonkey), and while I enjoyed all the films, but after watching it a few times, Beyond I think is my favorite, because it's NOT about the plot of The Matrix or even any main characters, but because it was much more subdued, I guess.
Away from the frantic energy of the other films, there is this moment in time where the kids and the girl can just ENJOY themselves, enjoying the glitches in the Matrix.
I kind of see it as a metaphor for people enjoying their lives, then some beaurocracy coming in and ruining it all... how temporary a simple joie de vie can be in modern life.
yes, it's just a movie. I've seen pro-Marxist arguments attributed to so many various movies, it's nuts. Seeing things that are not there seems to be a mark of socialist/marxist writings.
P.S. we don't live in a capitalist country anymore (assuming youre in a 'western' country). Capitalism is just a sugar-coated topping, a veneer over a massively controlled fascist (corporatist) economic system. It's virtualy impossible to even have a small personal business without the gov't getting involved. Fuck you, Mussolini, fuck you hard.
search eDonkey and you will probably find the whole Animatrix movie (DVD -> DivX rip)... i have it, saw it last nite, the other shorts were really really good. My two favorites were Matriculate (by the guy who did Aeon Flux) and the one called Beyond, which was a fun story, I guess you can say.
I used to work with a fellow who wrote a book about the old days at AOL check it out

Close, OS X uses the XNU kernel
"Anything under 19 stone is Venus."
nice use of semi-archaic weight measurements
19 stone = 266 lbs = 120 kg. Sounds about right.

FYI, it was a sandwich bought from a truck-stop mens room food dispenser, labeled "fresh" egg salad sandwich

you have no frickin idea how often spirals are used. Are they trying to hypnotize us?

is in fact NOT MP4 (or its some bastardization thereof), but is in truth some form of ASF that my OS X Windows Media Player can't handle.
I would say "Let the Daikatana jokes commence!" but I see I'm too late. Is there any video game personality as hated or joked about as he is?
no no, that's "Blisstonia", not "Blisstopia".

Wow, that was off-topic.
