If I were to intentionally replace my legs with superior artificial constructs, with the specific intention of being a superior athletic competitor as such, I think everybody would be screaming and crying that I shouldn't be allowed to compete.
I do exactly what you do. I seem to be the only one. Once I see a red light, no matter how far, I'll take my foot off the accelerator, starting my slow-down. Nearly always, some idiot behind me, not realizing why I'm slowing down will almost always threaten to bump me from behind (I've even been high-beamed) not noticing that my slowdown is a result of there being nowhere to go. SUV's/trucks/buses throw a wrench in this predictability by obscuring the traffic pattern ahead.
And remember...any time you need to brake is a sign that maybe you were going faster (using more gas) than you needed to be. Even with the traffic lights, I could probably drive the whole way to work (30 minutes on two/three lane road) without braking if it weren't for the drivers threatening me from behind to move at a certain pace on the road.
If there's nobody behind me, I'll even brake early (but not come to a complete stop) if I know it's a long light or if there are a few cars in front, so that I'll have momentum once the light turns green.
But really, these mathematicians are just telling us what we already know--that people tend to slow down quicker than they accelerate.
This is the song that never ends. It goes on and on my friends. Someone started singing it not knowing what it was, and they'll continue singing it forever just because, [repeat]
I have three Sandisk mem cards (CF and SD). Two of them failed (separate occasions) after about 3 years of near-constant use. While this may say something about the reliability of their products, Sandisk was very good about honoring a replacement card...i just had to mail mine back in.
Perhaps creepy to you, but there's no reason the government needs to step in and "protect" its citizens from the religion by jail time and execution. It's one of the freedoms that Canada and the US are founded upon. Just because you may not enjoy the same freedom doesn't make it any less valuable to the country as a whole.
Anyway, many fish actually have "teeth" near their throat. Anybody who's ever gutted a relatively large carnivorous fish has probably seen this, though the teeth are more like extensions of the gills. Even my 2-inch bettas have some kind of grinders in their throat. I can hear the crunching sounds they make when they chew on pellets.
I second that. I dread watching any "action" movie these days. I sat down to watch the Transformers movie last night, and all I could think was "give me the DVD so I can watch the action sequences in slo-mo." My wife on the other hand loved it, and called me "old". Grumble grumble...
You'll be having to move to Canada, India, or the Czech Republic to get a decent paying job
Depends on what you mean by "decent". If by "decent" you're talking purely about dollars and cents that amount to a salary, you're not going to get paid more (at least in India and Canada), on average, than in the US.
Do any of these have email notification? My main reason for running Yahoo! messenger is for that. I have only one contact on it who I actually talk to.
I used Netscape as a primary browser on my linux box (just b/c Firefox refused to install for the longest time) and the default home page, netscape.com was the worst portal site I've seen. It probably could've been customized, but 40% of it was pop gossip culture, 40% of it was relationship talk, and maybe 20% of it was news. It looks like they've changed it somewhat, but seeing that type of news on a default page changed my perception of netscape permanently.
I signed up for a netscape.net email address 8 years ago (now AOL mail), and the interface was terrible. It's one redeeming factor was it was the only one of my email addresses that never got spammed, while my unpublished hotmail one, which I never used, was spammed from day 1.
And even though I really dislike people who say things "I have no idea what it did, but that's the way I like it,"
I suppose you know everything there is to know about your car? Your microwave oven? Your television? Some people just want things to work, not spend hours figuring out how to make it work.
The latter artist actually makes more money per CD sold than the artist that's 'under the wings' of a record label. I don't doubt this. At some point, however, the artist chose to enter the contract w/ the record label. Why? Probably b/c of the promotional tie-ins, the distribution power, and other economies of scale in printing up physical cd's. In other words, the record industry is actually doing something for the artist. Whether you think the record industry deserves it is irrelevant because the artist chose to enter the contract.

That's a shame that you don't work at a company where you can do both.

I think that you can only now stand up for yourself BECAUSE you put in your time and got the experience. Anybody who starts a job without demonstrating their skills/dedication/etc to the job is not going to be taken seriously.
I liken hunting blindly to fishing. I don't hunt, but I do fish. I, like a blind person, do not see what I'm going for. The thrill is in the chase, and in pulling in the fish (pulling the trigger). I would expect that aiming the gun is only a fraction of the whole experience, and I don't think the visually impaired should be prevented from the experience of hunting because the seeing non-hunters don't understand the experience. Also, it should be noted (and probably has) that blind doesn't necessarily mean "everything is black" blind. There are many people who can see shapes and movement who are legally blind.
I'm all for gas prices going up. If they didn't, people/goverment would have no incentive to investigate alternative fuel sources, which we all know we'd need to do once we run out of fossil fuels.
Just got an ebay spam last night for the first time on my ebay address (which is separate from my regularly spammed addresses). It told me I had a 2nd chance to buy an item because the winning bidder had backed out or something (all this in the typical Ebay legalese). It referenced an actual item I had bid on recently with an accurate link, and was accurate as far as my bidding price was concerned. All the links seemed legit. The only thing was that the sender was not Ebay, and that it instructed me to contact an email address specifically. Excited to win the item at 30% less than what the winning bidder won it for, I replied right away. This morning, I got an email asking for some personal info like address and phone (I'm sure a request for credit info will follow). A friend told me about the scam, and that 2nd chance emails should show up under My Messages as well. It didn't appear there, and I've since forwarded the scam off to ebay. I've since gotten a direct reply from the scammer...I'm tempted to scam bait they guy (http://www.geocities.com/a_kerenx/ for some amusing Nigerian scam baiting stories) but don't want to make myself a target. But this is definitely one that was a bit more difficult to spot.
First off, I'll state that I do work for Business Objects.
Version 8...that's almost six years old (quite old in terms of reporting technology). Are you developing with Report Designer Component (RDC)? We currently support report modification through something called a RAS API, which might suit your needs. It can be accessed through.NET (which is how most of our RDC customers upgraded). Unfortunately, this is a completely different API from RDC. The good news is that the reports format itself is backwards compatible.
I'm not in sales, so I can't tell you how much it would cost compared to open source alternatives. All I can do is tell you that it can be done.
We get that too...then the sender sends out a Recall Message, which never really seems to work as it should.
But it could be worse:

Now you too, have access to an RIAA-free song.

I agree...the smartest people are the ones who realize they're not smart enough.
I was about to make the same comment as you, but I decided to Google first.

You mean that these companies are all still surviving in a bunker or warehouse somewhere? Send my love to WordPerfect 14, wherever she is!

Only when you have four armies on Alaska. Remember you must move as many armies as dice that you throw, and at least one must stay on Alaska.
Mine doesn't require ink either. But the fainting spells I go through when trying to print 100 page documents with my blood are a bit of a drag.
Wii too. I'm so wiidicted that my parsing of the English language is noticeabwii suffering.

You haven't talked about why you'd want to switch. If something works, why change it?
