Yes, you are right, 3,000 is relevant. My point was, if you took the trouble to ask every one of the people who have seen both, Star Wars would undoubtably win. (And that's not any kind of anti-Serenity feeling from me as I'm as much of a fan of Firefly, Serenity and Joss Whedon's other work as anyone)
Star Trek was still regularly shown on the BBC back then, and Stargate SG-1 has been popular with the Sky One audience since it was first broadcast. I do not buy the idea that Farscape, especially, was more popular than Stargate SG-1 when you combine its Sky One and Channel 4 audiences.
Stargate was badly treated by SFX in the early days, where they generally did not even acknowledge its existence. I even remember one review of one of the DVDs where they basically admitted that they had been wrong about the show and it deserved more credit. It still never really got any.
Anyone who remembers the various annual awards issues will remember the heavily biased results every year. Typically one show (either Buffy or Farscape) would completely dominate. Now its Firefly or Doctor Who.
SFX is basically a Whedon and new Doctor Who fan magazine, which is why I stopped reading it. They are simply polling their own readers, rather than a more general sci-fi audience.
A poll of 3,000 people is hardly statistically relevant, either, when you compare the audiences - the billions (probably) who have seen Star Wars versus the relatively small number who have actually seen Serenity.
SFX's editorial staff have their favourites and they push those favourites. When they were running, the magazine was largely about Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Farscape. Star Trek and Stargate (which were fairly popular at the time) rarely got a word in.
CSI Miami can usually beat any of the films listed here. Not only does it not understand technology - it *hates* technology. The people who dig through other people's garbage looking for clues for a living have the cheek to call the staff computer experts "geeks" - even though they probably get paid more and they don't have to trawl through landfills.
And, of course, video games are the number one cause of homicides in the United States.
Do McDonald's say "You can also buy burgers from Burger King" on their website ? Do Dell advertise HP Compaq ? Do Nike sell Adidas shoes in their stores ? No, of course they don't. Why should Google have to advertise for their competitors at all ?
His family might end up suing the school district or the school responsible, and they might just win. Either way, it will drain money that the school could have used for educating children and all because a small number of people think they can repress their students right to free speech.
It can resize 480p DVDs to 720p. Big deal, so can any PC DVD playback software. All it's doing is resizing an image. Play a DVD in a screen res higher than 720x480 and you've acheived the same effect.
Stargate SG-1 has massive potential as a squad-based FPS. The developers don't need to think of weapons or enemies as the show has a rich variety of them already. Pretty much any stock FPS gun has a Stargate universe equivalent - zat guns, P90's, staff weapons etc. You've got cannon fodder soldiers like the Jaffa, tougher enemies like the Kull Warriors, swarming enemies like the Replicators. Instead of having to create the universe around the game, they can concentrate on just the game itself.
The original poster is a troll. I can see no reason why his post has been modded insightful. Surely "insightful" infers some kind of original thought ?
I don't suppose this version makes it possible to turn the damned coloured quote bars down each side of a reply to an e-mail/newsgroup posting off, does it ?
The extension I used to do this before doesn't work with 1.0PR.
...the parts where he revolutionised film making (THX, Skywalker Sound, ILM, non-linear editing) and where he became the most successful independent film-maker of all time.
The Odeon site is one of three I still need to use IE for. It's like they don't want users of alternative browsers to visit their site or book tickets using their online order form.
Bastila was voiced by Jennifer Hale, who does a lot of video game work as well as cartoons - she was Felicia Hardy/Black Cat in the mid-nineties Spider-Man cartoon.
Should we be worried about the layoffs at Maxis and Origin ? It concerns me that EA keep buying out the studios they previously just acted as publishers for - Westwood is another good example, and then shutting them down or relocating their staff from Las Vegas to Los Angeles. While Command and Conquer Generals is a perfectly good RTS, it doesn't feel like a true C&C game. I can't see EA releasing any further GDI vs Nod or Red Alert based games any time soon.
1) A deal with Konami to bring Xbox Live support to Pro Evolution Soccer - with Microsoft's cash they should be able to sort out the official player and team name problems (ie it's Manchester United, not Manchester and it's Arsenal, not North London).
While I'm sure most Americans don't appreciate this, Pro Evo 3 on the PS2 is somewhere in the top two or three best games of all time, it's that good. It's sort of the European John Madden, as well - it's the game of choice when you've got your friends round. FIFA 2005 will support Xbox Live, but it's all flash and no substance compared to Pro Evo.
2) If they don't already have this, all XSN Sports games should support the creation of User tournaments and leagues, not just one off matches.
The dominance of the EA Sports brand has stifled innovation in sports gaming, when it had the potential to become the killer app for online console gaming.
In an age where the futures of vastly superior shows sci-fi/fantasy like Enterprise (struggling to survive), Angel (cancelled) and Firefly (cancelled) are in question, it was frightening to see this rubbish picked up year after year.
It's just a shame that it took the production company being shut down to do it.

Apple add a feature that lots of people asked for, make it really easy to do, give it away for free and still people complain.

Do ships in Star Wars have navigational deflectors like they do in Star Trek ?

CSI: Miami - The Game!
Who modded this funny ? Take that back or Sir Tim Berners-Lee will take the web back! :-)
How well does it work over a 802.11g wireless LAN with XviDs ?

See the Symbian website. Symbian OS is an open platform, well for now anyway.

Does this problem occur if you partition your disk using a third party tool like Partition Magic ?
I wonder if it will play XviD files as well. It would seem to be the most useful format around at the moment.
