FWIW, Best Buy will price match anything on Amazon if it is sold by Amazon i.e. not a partner store. I have done this a couple of times simply because they had what I wanted and I didn't have to wait. I am not defending Best Buy, but I thought it was worth mentioning.
Blogs are not dead, thank God! I don't think I could handle having to wade through the noise that is Twitter/Facebook on a daily basis. That's what RSS feeds are for.
Twitter is blogging for people seriously affected by ADHD that can't focus long enough to write more than 140 characters...
I think an advertising campaign consisting of pictures of penises branded with the GE logo would be a screaming success.

I can guarantee that solution wouldn't work at all from our corporate network and I am sure that this is the case far more often than you think. You'd get about as far as the proxy and then be given a virtual finger.
Gmail, on the other hand, works just fine because the proxy doesn't block any HTTPS traffic. It doesn't work via HTTP, however. I'm not entirely sure why this is the case, but I don't ask questions in case it's an oversight;-)
I'm reminded of a local aerial installation business in the town where I went to boarding school. I saw their van drive by one day, and I'll never forget their slogan:
"Andy's Aerials -- Satisfaction with every erection"
Ah, yes. Quicktime 7. This was required to watch the Keynote speech, which I had to end up watching on a Windoze machine, because my wife's iBook still has OSX 10.2.x, and Quicktime 7 requires 10.3.9 or higher. *sigh*:-(
I know, I should upgrade, but honestly I'm not sure if it's worth it, 'cause the machine is rather slow (500MHz G3) and need of an upgrade. There are a number of other applications that I would like to use that require a newer version of OSX (such as the NX client, and AirTunes for example). Oh, what a dilemma! I guess I'll continue using my Windoze and Linux boxen until an Intel Mac that I actually want is released that won't require me to take out a second mortgage...
Oh wait, that's not gonna happen (the second mortgage requirement, that is;-)
(I really _do_ like OSX, BTW, and am just _waiting_ to jump ship, so I'm not trying to take a dig at Apple). The software bundles are quite nice, but the real advantage only comes when _everyone_ is using OSX, because the seamless integration looks extremely compelleing. Shame we can't convince the world to switch...
The HP models actually look quite nice, if you are in the market for a machine that fits well in a stack of HiFi components. A tad pricey, but the nicest models I have seen to date.

If you use their ESX or GSX server you can access your virtual machine via a web browser. You would still need the ability to transfer files to the local machine. I don't know if accessing the VM via a web browser supports the drag-n-drop file transfer feature supported by VMWare Workstation (if you run Windows inside Windows).
....on the design of the epaulet on the jacket's shoulder. I bet noone has _ever_ thought of putting a strap of material on the shoulder of a jacket before. Maybe the fact that the epaulet is located a couple of inches further forward than it would normally be will be enough to grant the patent.
Just buy a Minidisc player/recorder/cheese-grater/thing-to-cuddle-up-t o-when-the-significant-other-is-out-of-town and be done with it.
I have yet to see a portable solution that suits my needs better than Mindisc. When you look at all the +'s and -'s for each, Minidisc wins....everytime.
And (this was mentioned previously in this thread) the battery life for Sony units is FANTASTIC! For God's sake, why can't solid-state units that have _no_ moving parts put even a dent in the lifespan that a single AA battery enjoys inside a Sony Minidisc player? (Other brands aren't too shabby, either.) It stuns me....
No, OGG definitely has most other formats over a barrel when it comes to the bit-peeling feature....that's really cool, expecially when you start thinking about how it can help with portable units....
But apparently, https://www.sf.net is NOT blocked! At least at the company I work for, which uses SmartFilter, I can still get to SourceForge using SSL! Yay! Of course, 5 minutes after posting this message it, too, will also be blocked......:-(
This just reinforces my belief that Microsoft is its own worst enemy. We don't need to do anything to bring down Microsoft, its doing a fine job of that by itself.
I would HIGHLY recommend reading Eric Raymond's book 'The cathedral and the bazaar' before you write your paper. In fact, I would recommend the book to anyone (especially if you are unfamiliar with the open-source movement.)
I believe the reason 3DFX gave for the external power supply was as follows:
After testing many motherboards from multiple manufacturers 3DFX determined that the voltage supplied to the video cards was inconsistent. Now, due to the requirement for a stable voltage that falls within a very narrow range, 3DFX opted to go with an external power supply so the card always received the juice it needed.
Personally, I think this card will be a complete waste of money. I used to be 3DFX all the way......not any more....
Just buy a GeForce. It's a simply a superior card in all respects.

That's exactly why it was developed. It was a really nice, consumer-ready reference platform. According to Eric Schmidt:
"The idea a year and a half ago was to do the Nexus One to try to move the phone platform hardware business forward. It clearly did. It was so successful, we didn't have to do a second one." (See: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technology/google/7864223/Googles-Eric-Schmidt-You-can-trust-us-with-your-data.html)

"Intel's FSBs and AMDs HTs hover at about 30 times this speed now, and there are plenty of slots which exceed this speed too."
30X? 3X, more like.

Amazon has it for $9.95.
