For those of you who can't wait for the North American release of the first season, you can order it up from Amazon.co.uk. The second season is also available. The down side is that you need a region-free or European DVD player to watch 'em. The director's commentaries are hilarious! Well worth the $$$.
This year we did one of those "Secret Santa" things -- y'know, you draw a name from a hat, and have to buy someone a gift of $20.00 (Canadian) or under.
Several co-workers answered with an affirmative "That's a good idea -- whomever got my name in the Secret Santa draw should make a donation, too!"
Anyhow, sending out this email caused quite a stir in the office, as some (anonymous) people responded saying they wanted gifts, not charitable donations. Others responded with messages stating how the department should pool its resources and adopt a tiger (although this can be had for $40.00CAD through the WWF).
An email thread continued for quite some time, bouncing the 'donation vs. (tangible) present' idea back-and-forth, until my manager responded with an email, paraphrased below:
"This Secret Santa was meant to be a joyful gift exchange, but seeing as how we can't agree on physical gifts or charitable ones, we should just cancel the entire thing."
Now, I realise that my manager was playing peacemaker, but it just goes to show you the general atmosphere of my workplace.
Sorry, I just had to rant...

I'm not a professional programmer or anything, but I am in the process of learning, and I'm just wondering how one would go about actually identifying the proprietary bits of code.
Short of searching for "Proprietary code: Go!" comments, does anyone have any insight into this?
I've bookmarked the individual links and added them to my Phoenix Personal Toolbar folder. This allows me to search google/images/groups/news with just one click. They'll also search for highlighted words on click, too!
I used to use a Mac until Microsoft paid me to switch over to XP and write an article about how great it is. But then they changed their minds and threatened "sanctions" against me.
So fuck 'em. Now I'm back to my Mac. My name is Valerie G. Mallinson and I'm currently unemployed.

I don't know about you guys, but this is one of the funniest pictures I've ever seen!

So I sent out a department-wide email, stating that I would prefer a donation to the World Wildlife Fund or the World Society for the Protection of Animals, which are two causes I support regularly (please give! =).

Want to simulate old age? Just follow these easy steps:
Tell anyone who will listen long, rambling stories about wars you were never in
Sit on your porch with a shotgun, yelling at kids to get off your lawn
Constantly complain about how good things used to be
See, it's THAT easy! =)
And don't forget to head on over to themes.mozdev.org for some tasty chrome! Orbit 3+1 is my personal favourite.
I imagine the forums goons over at Fark and Something Awful have a lot to do with this particular cliche.
Sorry, I was just being my regular smart-assed self. ;)
Although the site was mentioned earlier, here are two direct links:
8.4" w/controller
10.4" w/controller
There are some more sizes in the RV section(!).
As opposed to all those movies that use light blacks? ;)
Being the early ninties, they probably forgot to synchronize Swatches. ;)
All this week, Daily Planet, on Discovery Channel Canada, will be featuring little segements of James Bond tech & science.
Watch last night's segment here (caution -- ASF formatted clip).
Do you think you take Patrick Stewart in a fight? =)

That's a good idea -- I wouldn't want Ryu coming into my home and hadouken-ing the place up.
... and spam them back to the stoneage with targeted advertising! =)
Just call it Jean Grey
That was the worst thing I've ever posted! ;)
As far as the IE Google toolbar goes, I've whipped up a some Javascript (granted I don't think this is original) for doing the same thing.
You can check them out here.

Hope you enjoy them!
In my experience, not even the most precise roller-ball mouse can compete with a tablet & stylus for pinpoint accuracy.
Just my two cents.
Yep, there's your mistake right there. ;)
I can picture the ad now:
It would be pure genius!
Are you sure it was an accident? ;)
I hope their server will to live fight again another day. ;)
I think you just did... =)
