You are saying that we believe this to be the truth, so no matter what the evidence shows, we need to interpret it so that it proves our point. Instead they should be looking at the data they have and trying to come up with a reasonable explanation for it. Maybe hair on a dinosaur is a silly idea, but prove it or at least come up with a reasonable theory. You can't just dismiss it by saying it is silly.

Actually Christianity says there is no way to earn your way into heaven. Everyone has sinned and that sin has earned you eternal seperation from God. However, Christ came to earth, lived a perfect life, and then died in your place. He took the punishment instead of making you try to pay for it, which you can't. And now He offers forgiveness for those sins and a relationship with Him if you believe and ask. It is a free gift. You'll still have problems in life, but you'll always have God to take care of them and the hope that one day you'll be with Him forever in heaven.

As an aside, people have used all kinds of excuses to do horrible things and just because they tried to justify it by saying God said to do it, doesn't mean that God actually said to do it.

  16. My Two Cents on A Negative Review of Halo 2 · · Score: 4, Informative

Ok, let me say up front I never thought Halo was that amazing. It was missing things that I had grown used to in games like Perfect Dark, but I did enjoy playing multiplayer Halo with some friends and co-op. My friend got Halo 2 yesterday so I went over to play some multiplayer.

Ok, I'll start with what I liked:

    The vehicles are more fun.
The banshee and ghost have a boost now.
The ghost has a gun that can actually kill someone as opposed to just stunning them long enough to run them over(though running them over is still far more fun)
Some jeeps have a cannon instead of the machine gun.
Vehicles can be detroyed and damaged, but they respawn.
    You can jump higher.
The way Master Chief looks can be customized more.
You can play as the lizard thing(I never pay attention to the names) None of us used him yet so I can't comment on if that changes game play dynamics or not.
The rocket launcher can't be outrun quite as easily.
You can always zoom, though weapons without a zoom automatically retract if you fire while zoomed(It is like binocs embedded in your visor)
    Dual weapons.
    More than two teams.
It tracks more stats such as hit percentage and who killed who.

    Ok, now dislikes:

It seems to take an hour to kill anyone.
Most of the weapons seem weak. Even saw a friend take a direct hit from a rocket with no overshield and survive.
The sword(lightsaber) is too powerful in close quarters. One direct hit and you die and it gives you super human speed when you are close to your target.
He throws grenades like a sissy girl.
When you melee you lose one of your dual weapons.
In order to throw a grenade you toss down one of your dual wepaons. (Why not put the second weapon away for a moment instead?)
If you have two weapons and you could dual wield them, you have to toss one down and then pick it up to dual wield instead of just switching to dual wield.
Can't play Xbox live in a rated room unless everyone has a Live account.
Picking your profile before multiplayer is a one at a time ordeal instead of everyone choosing at the same time.(Not sure how that got ruined from Halo 1, but it is horrible and slow and you have to do it log off as well.)
    No fall damage
Still only two team multiplayer ctf.(though it seemed like you could play more. Maybe we just missed the option.)
Still doesn't track favorite weapons. Doesn't track where you shot most often though it does tell you how many head shots you had.
It added "catch phrases" to let you know how your enemy killed you. (You were assassinated means someone meleed you from behind), but they don't seem very funny or original.
    Still no bots.
To play 16 player on live you have to have friends to invite or everyone has to have a live account.

Anyways, it is about time for class. That is most of what I can think of off the top of my head. I am not impressed, but I am going to give it a chance still. I haven't played single or co-op so I can't comment on that.

The other songs I download are songs I already own, but have no way of transferring from tape or don't feel like going through the trouble. I already paid my license fee for the song, I am not giving them more money.
    B. Purchase the song from an online distributor like iTunes.
For the songs that I download that I do not own and only want the singles, this would be a great choice, but I don't know of any online distributors on linux with a nice selection.
    C. Listen to it on the radio.
I am not about to waste time listening to all the crap on the radio in the hopes that they may play the one song I want to listen to. I would prefer to listen to it when I want.
  19. Re:In Defense: Halo as FPS democracy on Halo 2 Multiplayer Modes Playtested, Recounted · · Score: 1

Halo is ok, but to call it great is a stretch. You mentioned Goldeneye, now that is a great game. The only advantages Halo has is 16 players instead of 4, that two joysticks are more intuitive than the one, and Halo has fun vehicles to play with. I suppose if you like pretty graphics you can call that another plus, but I prefer gameplay.

But for a game subtitled Combat Evolved, where is the evolutuion? Goldeneye had more weapons to choose from. Perfect Dark had guided missiles, guns that worked like auto turrets, proximity mines, timed mines, weapons that could poison you, weapons that blurred your vision, etc. You could choose many different weapons to play with on each map, instead of just the groups of weapons the developers decided you might like. Perfect Dark had bots to play against, not everyone has Xbox live or can get up a bunch of friends when they want to play multiplayer. You could choose from different characters to play as. Why can't I have more than two teams? I know some of the maps wouldn't work out well for multiple team CTF, but otherwise I can't come up with a good reason.

Single player is boring and tedious. Co-op as you said is fun, but some of the levels are so freaking long with no place to save and some of them are the same exact room over and over again. Multiplayer is good, but I am positive that if someone made a 16 player Perfect Dark that used the Halo button layout on any of the current consoles, I would never touch Halo again.

I probably play multiplayer Halo once a week, mainly just to enjoy hanging out with my friends and sometimes we have a fun game, but often I find myself seeing how many melee kills I can get or trying to get as many kills running people over with the warthog or seeing what kinds of stunts I can do in the ghost instead of caring that I should be guarding a flag or killing other people or trying to grab a flag. Sometimes I just quit playing and watch because I am bored. I played Goldeneye until I wore out each and every one of my four N64 controllers and then bought 4 new ones and I still play it now and then. I'd probably play it more often now but I have to admit the Halo controls are so intuitive after a while that going back to the Goldeneye controls is a little painful.

Chrono Trigger(for the SNES) is a great game, but these are used, usually no box, usually no instruction manual, and only about ten years old now. Come on. I can see maybe $20 for the game and I may even break down and pay $30 one of these days, but the same price I could pay for a brand new game, that is a bit ridiculous.

Most don't run every day, but even if they did at two hours of use a day, that is 50 days of use(almost two months) before a battery change. Annoying maybe, but if the shoe is that good it is probably an annoyance people can live with.

That is a good description of Java. However, if they haven't heard much more than the book is telling them about linux, then how much do they know about programming? Do they have any idea what Object Oriented means? Do they know the advantages and disadvantages to using it? Do they care? Maybe we should teach them how to be humble enough to ask for advice from those of us who know that stuff, instead of pretending they know everything? I know we can be just as biased, but lets say you have a few knowledgeable employees, ask them all and make your best decision from that.
