Please. Noboody's forcing you to play every good game out there. There are games on the PS2 and (to a lesser extent) the xbox that I would like to play, but ya know what, I'm already too busy with gamecube games as it is. If you have time for all the great games on all the consoles, you need to get a life man:P I'll probably pick up a PS2 in a couple years when it's 99 bucks or less, so I don't have to buy a brand new console at full price. I'll just go back and play all the great games I missed until the next generation gets their act together. Then I'll make a decision about which single new console will be the best for me.
Am I the only one that remembers the non-stop ridiculous hype the Playstation 2 had for about two years until it was released? Then when it was finally released, it was extremely disappointing? How about we just skip the hype and wait for it to be more than a list of specs?
I don't know what's worse. That you didn't realize it's a parody, a fake, a hoax, NOT REAL, even though it was clearly pointed out in the article submission.. OR, that you were modded up by even more people that didn't get it.
I also have no reason to switch to Linux. However I get the feeling that Microsoft is going to screw themselves over sooner than later (DRM), and I'll feel like I have no choice but to get off Windows if I want to have privacy and control over my computer. Linux doesn't have to do anything but wait for MS to screw up.
I don't understand why people can't enjoy games like Mario Sunshine or Pikmin. These games have a universal appeal, that is, they're FUN. When I play a Miyamoto game, I'm not thinking about graphics. That's a great achievement. So many games today you play, and when you think about it, you're not actually having fun, you're just admiring the graphics or some other feature. Nintendo is one of the very few game companies I can count on to create and publish games that are fun.
I used to be a hardcore PC gamer, but I bought a gamecube in July and I haven't even wanted to play any PC games since then. It really makes me wonder why the gamecube is doing so poorly in the USA, it has so many great games in it's first year. But I guess that shows you the video game industry is becoming like the movie industry. Flashy, pretty pieces of garbage with no conent will thrive, while the really great things are appreciated by a caring minority.
They claim that he's not doing anything unique or fulfilling his potential, and practically in the same breath say that he should conform with the rest of the industry and make "mature" games. Anyone else see the hypocrisy?
Miyamoto has been making the greatest video games of all time since he began. The peon developers think games like GTA are the "future of video games." God, I hope not. Miyamoto, please save the industry!(again!)
The xbox live service is great, I'm sure. Virtually lag-free, relatively inexpensive, good communication device. But.. none of that matters when there are 0 games worth buying.
MechAssault is the one everybody considers the best. Sorry to say, it's boring. Repetitive. No strategy. Circle-strafe-fest. Yawn.
Ghost Recon is a fun game, however I've played it out long ago on the PC. Ditto for Unreal Championship which is basically UT with a different name. Sports games.. not interested. Whacked, never heard of it.
Come on Microsoft, where are the good games? That's the #1 problem plaguing the xbox since Halo was released.
..and the fact that most US states have much smaller populations than most countries.. makes our gun murder rate being above average even more pathetic.
-You live in a forest and the nearest store that sells games is nearly an hour drive from your house.
Personally, I could care less if a game gets delayed 3 or 4 days from shipping. It's less of a hassle than making time in the day to drive completely out of my way. I signed the little waiver they stick on your door the first time they couldn't deliver something because you're not home, and now they leave it on the doorstop. My only problem is, it's too easy to buy games since I don't have to go out of my way:P Damn internet..
How many times can you watch remote controlled scrap metal bump into each other and flip each other before it gets boring? For me.. it only took one episode. Not to mention the show has no business being on COMEDY central, since the only funny thing is watching the obviously fake "chemistry" between the hosts. Oh.. and whatshername's boobies are nice.
I think most games suck all around these days. Everything has to be "realistic" or it won't sell. I miss the days when everyone could enjoy mario(or whatever game) because it was fun, it didn't matter that it didn't have blood splurting out of the goombas when you jumped on them, it was just fun. I feel sorry for Nintendo now.. still producing the games that are really fun and completely unrealistic looking, and they're thought of as "kiddy." Bleh.
It's just a matter of getting used to the controls, but you also have a point. In a FPS that requires quick aiming a gamepad just doesn't work unless the game has an autoaim. But I find that any good console FPS is set up with console gaming in mind. They give you more time to aim without being in too much danger. You don't have to move around a whole lot when battling it out with an enemy. You'll almost never be attacked from more than one direction at a time, or at least you can avoid it. All these things make FPS gaming with a console easier.
My problem is, more realistic graphics just don't excite me anymore. The gameplay of an FPS has been the same since Wolfenstein 3D. I'm bored with it. Really pretty graphics don't fix repetitive gameplay.
Sure there are exceptions, Deus Ex and Thief were great for bringing something new into games with a first person perspective, now those teams are working on DX2 and Thief 3, which will be the more of the same, but more refined. Someone tell me when PC games become innovative again. Until then I'll stick to consoles.
Peter Jackson was trying to make a movie, not photocopy a book. I'm not a filmmaker, so I don't know how well any of the things cut from the book would work in the movie. Peter Jackson is one and does know. He's also as big a fan of the books as anyone(or so they say), so obviously he's going to be as respectful of the books as possible when making a movie adaptation. He's not second guessing Tolkien, he's just taking out the things that he thinks would not work in a movie like they work in a book. As far as I know Tolkien never wrote screenplays:)
People complain when they review mainstream movies that everybody has heard of. Now they're trying to share something almost nobody has heard of, and you're still complaining?
Personally I'd rather have reviews of these movies that I've never heard of and maybe don't have a chance to see right away because it won't be playing in every theater in the world. What's the point of reviewing a movie that's already been reviewed a thousand times?

this guy has to be in the running for best troll ever.
Moderation Totals: Flamebait=1, Total=1 Guess I am the only one that remembers. sigh
What does sales have to do with the quality of the hardware? The PS2's hardware is nothing compared to what it was hyped up to be.
Who's discarding it as crap? I never said anything of the sort.

It's an interesting show, but some of these "Big Thinkers" turn out to be nothing more than "Big Egos."

Damn that movie! I swear.. ever since that movie "Double Jeopardy" came out, everyone thinks they're a lawyer and everything is double jeopardy.
Yawn.

Who in their right mind would throw away a twinkie?!

I wish they would play the games they don't like. Then they might actually know what they're talking about for once.
You forgot the 3rd and most important reason:

*end rant*
Does the list go on and on? I think you summed up just about all of them in that post.

Supply and Demand continues to be an economic principle!
