  1. Re:My suggestion on FCC Approves Sprint-Nextel Merger · · Score: 1

Actually, one of the main reasons for the merger was so Nextel could roll out their next generation PTT which runs on the CDMA network. Merging with Sprint means they don't have to go out and build a completely new infrastructure to support the new features. That's also why Verizion cried foul last year when Nextel was allowed to buy frequency spectrum at a fraction of what is normally charged in return for selling back the lower frequency spectrum they use now (at reduced charge) so it can be used for emergency services. Sprint benefits by geting a much larger piece of the spectrum for its high speed initiatives

It only "scares" those who profess faith in God but do not practice it. I do not need proof God exists. If I did I wouldn't need faith. What saddens me is the adversarial role the vocal minority (on any side of the "discussion") seem to gravitate to. I believe this is due to a misconception many Believers have. That is, If someone rejects God they become the enemy which is completly contrary to what Jesus said & did. The only people he treated that way were the religious leaders claiming to be acting /speaking in God's name but weren't (I think we can all think of someone who fits that description). So, to conclude, I am indeed intelligent & I am also a Believer. I do not require scientific evidence of God and I do not require you to accept that God exists to be friends with you. As to whether ID should be taught in school I don't know enough about it to intelligently comment (I suspect that is true for the majority of people on the list) but I do know that Darwin's theory of evolution doesn't resemble anything close to what people think it does. I like to call it his theory of adaptation since it actually just talks about a species adapting to climactic / elemental changes.

We're already there....sort of. Anyone watching a feature film in the last 10 or more years has seen this. The last few Bond flicks have been almost full length commercials for Mercedes/BMW/Boliva. There are too many to mention. The funniest one I remember was actually a satire on product placement in films. Anyone remember Wayne's World? They spent 5 minutes saying they would never sell out their music while doing an ad for Pepsi, Nuprin (Little, yellow, different), and Pizza Hut. Hilarious, but sadly true.

So to say it another way, the CIO may have a particular idea how he wants something done and he conveys that to an employee who grew up around the world from him and proceeds to implement what he "interpreted" his boss said to him. The CIO is furious because it wasn't done the way he saw it in his own mind but the spirit of the design was honored by the employee. It could happen either way. The CIO could be from the US or Japan or China or anywhere.

You ever noticed several people will look at a problem and each one of them will come up with a different, sometimes conflicting, solution? Have you ever had a conversation with someone who believed something so totally absurd to you but to them it was completely rational? Some of the greatest inventions of the last century were complete accident/mistakes that came about because someone was thinking outside the box and dared to try and achieve something great. They may not have achieved what they were hoping for but their inventions changed the world nonetheless. The majority of these off shored PhD's are wrote scientists. They follow the path already etched out for them and ever so slowly etch a little bit more. There is nothing wrong with this approach but it will rarely achieve the kind of breakthrough wanton reckless abandon to scientific principles will achieve in the same amount of time. Hewlett & Packard were tinkerers who thought big and were also smart enough to start their own company. Carly didn't start the process of spinning off hp's true core business unit (now Agilent Technologies http://www.home.agilent.com/) but she did let it happen. For anything to really last there has to be a balance of PR/R&D/BST (Blood Sweat & Tears). She tried to rob Peter (R&D) to pay Paul (PR) and it caught up with her.

What irritates me is when people scream that people's (in this case Moore's) freedom of speach is being encroached if another organization or group tries to squelch whatever is being said. Freedom of speech is the right to say what you want politically and the "government" cannot prevent you from saying it by throwing you in jail or having you executed, which is quite common in Afghanastan and Iraq BTW. If what you are saying is offensive to me I have every right to say "You are in my place of business and I must ask you to leave!" As a side note. The Dixie Chicks had every right to pan GWB the way they did and the Bush administrstation couldn't touch them but if I want to stop buying their music or a radio station wants to get publicity by burning their albums that's free speach as well.

Of course everyone's body is different and requires constant nutritional "tweaking" to stay at an optimal level. I no longer need the St. John's Wort but have added Coral Calcium because of the high acidity of my body.
