Yeah.. Incredible amount of engineering went into that plane..
IIRCWIPD, when they were doing stress testing on that plane, (could have been the 777 now that I think about it) the wingtips could safely bend up 20' and down 20' without harm to the airframe.. Pretty cool
What about the Tri-color LED's? Have a certain color show for a given speed / acceleration, mouse clicks, etc... This one for example. No idea how this could be done, but it'd be damn cool.
This is really cool. I'm the installer for a rural ISP in NE Washington state, and often times when I go out to do a site survey, a mountian or a bunch of trees will be in my way.
You can kinda see the view from our tower #2 in colville here. Pictures that I took while I was up replacing an antenna. Kodak DC280 for those interested.
Anyway, we have 2 towers in Colville, which covers most of the town. Although there are a few areas that we can't reach. If we were to put in several inexpensive (a major plus) micro-cells of these things to kinda float around large obstacles, then this is could be a good thing.
I'm going to play with this, although can't exactly use it in production...
My brother, a High School senior, constantly uses 'leet' in his normal speech.. Not to mention all of his friends.. everything is 1337. Of course, these are the same guys that walk up to each other (i've seen this), and say something like: "D00d! You see that L33t Chix0r over there!?" "Yeah" "Not in a million years will either of us get there..."
This brings to mind the Worth1000 photoshop contest of 'What if Hackers rules the world'. Pretty funny stuff in there. I especially like the ch4mp00 entry..
Does it worry anyone else,

That the (not so) possible end of the world is named NT7 ?
Couldn't you take a dremel tool to your monitor and remove the border? Then perhaps screw the bases of both monitors down to a board or something so they wouldn't move around. Might superglue the existing borders together once your done cutting to make it more solid..
A digital signal processor seemed to be the answer but the cost of the development kit was $3000. Fortunately, thanks to a generous "donation" from "corporate sponsors" I obtained the development kit and a DSP board.
Does this make anyone else wonder where he got it?:)
What's with all the comments so far about this being used for terrorist training?? Geeze.. that's like saying "Hey I'm building a computer! The FBI better watch out, I might hack into the DOD mainframe!!"
If we slashdot it, will it catch on fire? I always wonder what happens to all these little webservers people keep making.. a watch, a gameboy... what will a DoS attack do to it?
I've got one of those.. they're pretty cool, although the model that I had gotten for christmas only has 2 motors: forward and back. No up or down, so I have to control that with counterweights n' stuff. it only takes a little bit of weight to change what height it idles at.
My cat just about ripped the thing to shreads when she saw it come at her for the first time though.. was kinda funny.:)
I can't believe the amount of "this is a repeat!!!" posts... Mistakes happen, just when they happen here, a WHOLE LOT of people see them.
:)
this is thanksgiving, i give thanks that slashdot is here at all.

How can a question be off topic?

Doubt it. They can claim National Security, which can allow them to boss around anyone they want..

or perhaps this is too stupid an idea to post..

Get off this stupid planet for a while, with all of it's fighting, wars, and terrorist bullshit...
Oh great. We do NOT need people playing everquest while driving, instead of just talking.
True enough... I guess it's relatively early in my evening: before midnight (pst)
Don't get me wrong, this is really cool, but the number of terrorist comments kinda suprised me.
What's with all the comments so far about this being used for terrorist training?? Geeze.. that's like saying "Hey I'm building a computer! The FBI better watch out, I might hack into the DOD mainframe!!"
All that, and I even scored tickets to the 12:01 showing of star wars on opening day ;)
Take me take me!!!
What is the likelihood of bacterial life on Mars infecting the earth if we ever get around to visiting Mars in person?
I don't know, but I know a sure-fire way to find out!!!
I wonder how Conan feels about all this talk about the show going downhill after he left...
Define "Working Mockup" :)

Drain the batteries for sure..
Always think they know better. This is a much better protocol for transmiting wirelessly. CPIP (carrier pigeon internet protocol).
Not only does each node cost a heck of a lot less, but they're self-replicating!
just one ping? damn.. wonder what'll happen if we slashdot them.. do we get to see the black helicopters? :)
The ads don't bother me. I would subscribe if I got access to the rejected-story bin though. That would be worth my $20.
Just noticed User Friendly is doing an ad free subscription for 3.95 per month also.
what; you think they're gonna advertise THAT little feature on the internet?
