    You must be young. My Computer Engineering class at Virginia Tech had 1 woman out of 400. Overall, the graduating class of '97 was the first year in Tech's history where there were more women then men.

    I have a $0.01 alternative to this randomizer app.... Flip a fair coin. Designate one side of the penny Heads, and the other side tails....

    Also, even if they have 50,000 pre-check lanes, the total cost is still only $500.

    But then TSA has to hire skilled workers. They have to be able to flip a coin.

    Will need some actual evidence to support your supposition. This argument is used every time a minimum adjustment debate begins. And then, nothing happens. The sky does not fall. Our economy does not collapse on itself. Life goes on. Costs get spread out to the consumer. The consumer deals with it.

    Landing in DCA is fraught with peril. I've had problems with the weather shutting it down 2 out of the 3 times I've flown there. The run way is close to the river and pilots report that it's like landing on an aircraft carrier. A little bit of mist and they shut down landing there. It's always more expensive, but I'll gladly pay the difference rather than go to Dulles.

    I want to buy a device where the software is supported for the working lifetime of the machine and whether to install updates for anything other than security/stability/compatibility is up to me and an independent decision.

    In some cases, there are concerns beyond market forces. Burning carbon fuels will always (or at least for the foreseeable future) be cheaper than generating electricity in another way. The cost is in the damage to the atmosphere, not the economy. The atmosphere is not subject to market forces.
