Yea I was really disapointed when the swarthy knight on the cover of "Adventure" was reduced to a small yellow block. I mean.. he's not even asian in the picture on the front.. terrible graphics..

Bit of a resource hog but it is pretty nice.

If they are releasing this for public consumption I think it would be a good idea.

  5. How bout we just ban it for being a crappy game. on Officer's Group Calls for Ban On 25 To Life · · Score: 1

Thought I would give it a shot this weekend. Was thinking it was going to be fairly open ended where you can choose between being the law or breaking it. That was pretty much too much to hope for, each time one of these urban crime games come out I hope the people making it take more from GTA:SA then just gangstas bustin caps instead of gameplay and other elements that make the GTA series so good. But of course in 25 to lifes case its just a crappy game with thugs.

One day we might see some developers wake up and instead of copying the theme of a game, they go for the actual gameplay elements. Otherwise we are going to keep getting shitty game after shitty game that tries to cash in on the popularity of GTA:SA

Personally I want to see a GOOD game in the GTA style where you take the role of the police officer (True Crime doesnt count because its a piece of crap)

Not only do Jerry and Mike put out a great comic and have been doing it for years, but they have the childs play charity which every year since its inception has gotten bigger and bigger, as well as the PAX gaming expo they have been putting on has been growing larger and more impressive, but now a Scholarship... whats next the penny-arcade national health care program?

Of course these things wouldnt be possible without the fans of the comics and the gamers out there who rally to the causes that these to great men put forth. More attention needs to be given to these two guys and gamers like them.

  8. A response to Eberts Critizism of videogames? on Hulk Smash! Lacks Subtlety · · Score: 1

Usually when we see a video game review its a break down of the actual gameplay/graphics and whatnot, yet this one came at it by taking about the in game story and drawing comparisons to recent "The Hulk" movie directed by Ang Lee.

Not something you see very often which leads me to believe this was an attempt to view video games more than just a game in an attempt to legitamize the media as being an artform, which recently Roger Ebert stated video games could never be because of no real authorative.

I recall another conversation (not sure if it is the same one ebert made) that the video game reviewer often shoots themselves in the foot be focusing only on the game aspects and not the story, which in the case was the complete opposite.

Whatever the reason for his film critique like review, was picking The Hulk, ultimate destruction, really the best game to focus on?

Maybe he really likes the story of the hulk, maybe he writes essays or fan fiction based on Bruce Banners inner turmoil.. who knows, but for me The Hulk as a video game that is fun, comes out as a winner.

When SWG started alot of people I knew who played it, (including myself) wanted to be just be that Uncle Owen character. I played an entertainer/musician myself with a bit of smuggler as well.A sexy Twi'lek in catina playing a song and dealing spice and slicing weapons in the backroom. I didnt want to be Han Solo, or a cutout of him. But thats where the game is heading now.

The options that SWG gave you were amazing, the customization the various types of classes and skills you could make the housing, crafting and everything all really detailed, not too mention the customization of the look of your avatar. best I have seen(rivals COH/COV imo) but implimentation was BUGGY AS HELL.

Database corruption, rampant duping, broken quests terrible imbalances and aof alot of empty space. Once people min/maxed the best templates PVP went to hell(not that it was that great to begin with)

I think SOE orginally wanted to create a living breathing Star Wars Universe that you played in but it turned out to be more than they could handle so to "fix" the game they are dumbing it down (tho I like the combat changes having it a bit more twitch is a good idea tho once again.. BUGGY atm) slicing off a bunch of classes and who knows what else to make it SWG lite and hope that they get more people to come and play.

I just think they should kill the game and go with SWG 2 .. perhaps do it right this time.

Nintendo rehashes characters but not so much game play.
They take risks and have been for a long time, sure it bites them in the ass from time to time but then they pop some gems out too. Virtual Boy, that was cool, yet headache inducing, Pokemon Snap with the photo stations where you could play the game and print out your photos.. never really caught on.. that other pokemon game where you spoke to pikachu to make him do shit.

Or how can you forget Super Mario 64... that created a new genre of game that is copied and emulated everywhere.

Then you have games like Donkey Konga, Animal Crossing, Pikman, Metroid Prime (which yes is an FPS but they took a risk in making a classic side perspective game into a 3rd one)

Super Smash Bros, and the Mario Party series.

Sure we see alot of rehashing characters but those characters are what make nintendo, nintendo.. they make alot of cool, different games and yea they fall into the same traps as well by recreating what works but IMO they innovate far more than microsoft and sony (in regards to videogames)

Oh I own a PS2 and a Gamecube.. my PS2 sees more action than the cube, I like my Nippon Ichi strat games..

The same can be applied for music, TV, films you have to look at WHY they are popular.

The gaming companies are already on board (since they they had agree to various provisions in the first place to be allowed into the chinese market) and while I feel sorry for the legit Chinese players I wont miss the farmers if they do pack there bags.
