The infamous Planet Magrathea pre-release review is saying that a lot of Adams's original dialogue was chopped to bits, leaving out classic lines and asphyxiating his jokes. Is this true? If so, why was the dialogue--the one aspect of H2G2 that has been a constant--changed so drastically?
I believe it. Over the last three years I've seen mail-based virus infections disappear. I don't think I've seen a mail-based virus infection in the last year at all.
The nice thing about HIPAA is that we finally have a beating stick to use when we want to increase network security. The deans at our college don't give a rip if we have a compromised workstation, but once it goes from "compromised workstation" to "HIPAA violation" they pay a lot more attention.
Since she (obviously) didn't offer those files for download, and since this isn't the first such case of mistaken identity in these matters, doesn't this negatively affect the RIAA's potential success in future lawsuits?
Of course, I don't think anyone's been convicted of anything yet--people have only settled out of court, right?
The Windows firewall and XP SP2 in general have very, very good penetration of the market. MS has done a very good job of getting SP2 into the hands of customers.
Microsoft has done a good job of getting SP2 into the hands of WINDOWS XP customers. People running 2000 or (god forbid) ME or 98 are up feces creek without a paddling implement.
When it's a question of a more secure system vs. saving $150, what do you think most Joe Users are going to do?
Commercially successful is the DEFINITION of "good" when it comes to the world of business. If more people buy it, you make more money. That's all there is to it.
Disgusted by it? I am too. That's why I don't buy music anymore. The RIAA isn't just bad for consumer rights, it's bad for art as well. When art and finance collide, the business world just steamrollers it.
One more year and it should be legal.
Don't forget the Asus Eee as an option for inexpensive laptops...
Verizon's had a waterproof phone for a while (article dated 10/2/06), called the G'zOne--my dad's got one and he's dropped it in the ocean a few times. It's the real deal.
I'm a big believer in HijackThis. I also keep the distribution Win2KSP2 on my thumb drive for when I do reinstalls, and a "legal" copy of McAfee.
disclaimer: I use Ubuntu on my desktop and am a vlc fan
Hell, it sucks under Linux!
I am stunned and amazed that it was a PDF and not an HTML page full of flash advertising.

As someone who's currently wrapping the Evolution C API in Ruby...
I thought evangelists didn't believe in Evolution.

I wonder if this will be used by Paris Hilton.
You're an idiot. It isn't taking anything away. It isn't depriving of anything except potential profits. It's copying. COPYright. Get it?
Why is that bad? Isn't profit the goal of AdWords?
It's an interesting business model, if you ask me. It'll be even more interesting to see if he actually profits from it.
How about a penguin?
Does anyone have a Google cache? ;)
I tried charging that amount for a while, but it was costing me business. Probably a regional thing.
Set automatic updates to go automatically at 3am and add in a "don't turn your computer off" proviso.
Oh, and I charge $35/hr.
Has there yet been a judgement in a RIAA case? Or has everyone settled or otherwise had the case dropped?

Sorry, I thought this was a "news for nerds" site.

"Kaffefahrt" literally transfers to "coffee trip".
It looks like you're trying to write a recipe. Would you like to:
* Add garlic?
* Add salt?
* Order a wine from gourmet.microsoft.com?
A real geek who knows how to write, too. His blog looks fairly new but still informative.
