    Verizon's had a waterproof phone for a while (article dated 10/2/06), called the G'zOne--my dad's got one and he's dropped it in the ocean a few times. It's the real deal.

    I believe it. Over the last three years I've seen mail-based virus infections disappear. I don't think I've seen a mail-based virus infection in the last year at all.

    The nice thing about HIPAA is that we finally have a beating stick to use when we want to increase network security. The deans at our college don't give a rip if we have a compromised workstation, but once it goes from "compromised workstation" to "HIPAA violation" they pay a lot more attention.

    Since she (obviously) didn't offer those files for download, and since this isn't the first such case of mistaken identity in these matters, doesn't this negatively affect the RIAA's potential success in future lawsuits?

    Of course, I don't think anyone's been convicted of anything yet--people have only settled out of court, right?

    The Windows firewall and XP SP2 in general have very, very good penetration of the market. MS has done a very good job of getting SP2 into the hands of customers.

    Microsoft has done a good job of getting SP2 into the hands of WINDOWS XP customers. People running 2000 or (god forbid) ME or 98 are up feces creek without a paddling implement.

    When it's a question of a more secure system vs. saving $150, what do you think most Joe Users are going to do?

    Commercially successful is the DEFINITION of "good" when it comes to the world of business. If more people buy it, you make more money. That's all there is to it.

    Disgusted by it? I am too. That's why I don't buy music anymore. The RIAA isn't just bad for consumer rights, it's bad for art as well. When art and finance collide, the business world just steamrollers it.
