YAST is what really first turned me on to SuSE. My favorite thing about it was that I could use it over an ssh connection and configure just about everything remotely. Over the years it has turned into a create setup facility.

I wouldn't think so. The old mediums were precious and brought in some bucks because there were only so many of the originals printed. And half the game was how well that printed media has stood the test of time and how well it was preserved. With digital media you have an unlimited amount of originals and copies of the originals which are indistinguishable from the originals.
Now I do imagine there will be an Email Spam Museum site, showcasing the evolution of spam and so on.
This guy's talking out of his ass. What does he base all this on? His opinions
Humans have been playing games since they had leisure time. Once we didn't have to spend all day hunting and gathering we filled the rest of the day with story telling and drawing on cave walls. The gaming industry is not going to crash, or ever go away.
Now hopefully soon the dumb computers (consoles that only know how to play games) will go away soon, but PC gaming will never ever die.
Price comes to mind first. I think I've spent a little over $120 on all my (at the very least 50) different installs of linux I've had over the years. And that's $120 that I gave willingly. Isn't it around $120 every year or every other year for Microsoft OS?
User friendliness. YES! User friendliness! I am not in kindergarten and I know how to use and learn to use an operating system. If I can't find it the online manual with linux I can always open up the source for some clues. Windows online help is a complete joke, har har knee slap. And even if you were to call in to tech support.. nevermind won't go there..
Wow maybe I'm just not a fan of Mandrake, the first time someone gave me a CD to help them install it I literally thought it was a prank someone was playing. I laugh at AOL commercials who have 9.0 version out with 'hundreds of new features' and just now realized how quickly linux versions jump numbers. Looked at an old Slackware disc I got from cheapbytes think it was 3.6 and now they're up to 9.0+ now, and have to ask myself have there really been that many huge changes to their distrobution to have it be a major release each time? I'm a big SuSE advocate and even with them wonder why it's 9.0 all of a sudden. Many of my machines are still running SuSE 7.2 and upgraded to that from 5.3 and 6.3.
I get a lot of crap from people who say I play to much video games. These same people then turn around and sit their ass on the couch the same ammount of time and watch TV. I think it's better for you to be playing video games then watching TV, at least you're participating in something.
I would imagine the same would hold true to Porn. The once mighty magazines like Playboy, Hustler and Penthouse must be taking a beating from the online porn available. But I don't think I've seen any reports about that yet.
I would imagine that all printed media will slowly start to see the bottom lines being cut out from underneath by the internet.
Any technology can be used for good or evil. A board with a nail through it can be the beginning of a house for the homeless, or an instrument to bloody someone to death.
I'm a huge fan of new technology and was wondering when someone would start to broach this area. I've read several pages of different universities that were playing with this including my favorite Caltech. This is great as it's a step away from just having the patient hardwired into a computer system.
Don't we already have several technologies to replace oil? If this is working and could be used Great! But when will it roll out and effect the everyday Joe?
Just curious why we're always pushing the limit higher, when we haven't pushed the bar up.
As soon as I seen they were filing suit against a former customer who had dumped their OS for linux I knew SCO's going down. They just want to slap a couple people on their way out of the building. I mean might as well it's not like it's their money in the stocks.
Instead of a golden parachute the CEOs of SCO have opted for a semi-bronze boxing glove.
I'm buying something tonight from Autozone... just not sure what yet..
Please don't take offense to what I wrote. I don't mean to provoke anyone. Just as I'm sure the Mormons don't mean to provoke anyone driving their bikes house to house handing out literature. The one true freedom God gave us all is to make up our own minds.
I myself am a recovering Christian. I was refering to the people who still believe that humans are the center of the universe. No, that Christians are the center of the Universe.
I just hope for drastic change on our rock. And maybe in some geeky star trek way hoping another rocks inhabitants no matter how insignificant can lend us some insight into all the whats whys when and wheres.
I hope this puts a curb on religios fanatics who believe God created the world in 7 days. What day did he create the living organisms on this planet, on that other planet? I know I'm way off topic here. But something like this could dramatically change the world. Proof that we are no longer alone.

And how many Isaac Asimov ideas have been turned into everyday reality? Humanity writes it's own future in Science Fiction.
How many science fiction books dealt with the grim future of a corperate controlled government?

There's too many reasons for me.
No I'm afraid that it'll make perfect FUD ammunition.

10 years from now will we have SuSE 24.2?
I guess numbers mean squat to me anymore.
And when you have no services to send back because you've been denied them by distributed computers?
This is trolling?
$100 bucks says the RAM was for ECHELON
Why still haven't we heard any news inside the US about ECHELON?
But the PS3 is supposed to be backwards compatible with PS and PS2 games while the XBox won't?
That sells me

I saw this topic and started to drool.
This is like shooting ducks in a barrel for the slashdot community.

Even Microsoft is a better alternative than SCO, at least they don't sue customers over what they do.
No but they back entire educational disctricts into a corner and say 'Audit, pay a large fee, or go to court'
Yes the original Movieoke!

So you rant on them for saying your game sucks, and then turn around and say their game sucks?
What level of pacman can you make it to?

We have a flu on Mars to chum up with.
The holes in OpenBSD are from other programs, the masses cry. But no one thinks about the same thing in terms of microsoft.
Yea it's those other program vendors that suck ass! The people who release Outlook and Internet Explorer!!
