  1. YEA! YAST! on YaST to Become Open Source · · Score: 1

YAST is what really first turned me on to SuSE. My favorite thing about it was that I could use it over an ssh connection and configure just about everything remotely. Over the years it has turned into a create setup facility.

    GO SuSE!

I wouldn't think so. The old mediums were precious and brought in some bucks because there were only so many of the originals printed. And half the game was how well that printed media has stood the test of time and how well it was preserved. With digital media you have an unlimited amount of originals and copies of the originals which are indistinguishable from the originals.

Now I do imagine there will be an Email Spam Museum site, showcasing the evolution of spam and so on.

This guy's talking out of his ass. What does he base all this on? His opinions

Humans have been playing games since they had leisure time. Once we didn't have to spend all day hunting and gathering we filled the rest of the day with story telling and drawing on cave walls. The gaming industry is not going to crash, or ever go away.

Now hopefully soon the dumb computers (consoles that only know how to play games) will go away soon, but PC gaming will never ever die.

  6. Take your pick on What Differentiates Linux from Windows? · · Score: 1

Price comes to mind first. I think I've spent a little over $120 on all my (at the very least 50) different installs of linux I've had over the years. And that's $120 that I gave willingly. Isn't it around $120 every year or every other year for Microsoft OS?

User friendliness. YES! User friendliness! I am not in kindergarten and I know how to use and learn to use an operating system. If I can't find it the online manual with linux I can always open up the source for some clues. Windows online help is a complete joke, har har knee slap. And even if you were to call in to tech support .. nevermind won't go there ..

There's too many reasons for me.

Wow maybe I'm just not a fan of Mandrake, the first time someone gave me a CD to help them install it I literally thought it was a prank someone was playing. I laugh at AOL commercials who have 9.0 version out with 'hundreds of new features' and just now realized how quickly linux versions jump numbers. Looked at an old Slackware disc I got from cheapbytes think it was 3.6 and now they're up to 9.0+ now, and have to ask myself have there really been that many huge changes to their distrobution to have it be a major release each time? I'm a big SuSE advocate and even with them wonder why it's 9.0 all of a sudden. Many of my machines are still running SuSE 7.2 and upgraded to that from 5.3 and 6.3.

10 years from now will we have SuSE 24.2?

I guess numbers mean squat to me anymore.

I'm a huge fan of new technology and was wondering when someone would start to broach this area. I've read several pages of different universities that were playing with this including my favorite Caltech. This is great as it's a step away from just having the patient hardwired into a computer system.
