  1. Re:Its cancer on Jobs Not Giving This Year's Macworld Keynote · · Score: 1

I think I see what you're saying - but the thing is that it's exactly as you say - except that it takes years to know if the cure worked. If it did, then the body will fix itself etc. If it didn't, then it's not good.

And having that long waiting period is very draining for everyone, something I'm very aware of.

I'd love to know what the distinction between a "cure" and "removal or killing of cancerous cells" is. If you get all the cells, which is often not as hard as you'd think, that seems to me like a cure.

The trick is that it's not clear for years which was achieved.

That also is 1 Amp at 1 Volt per second, but that's not the primary way you talk about a Watt.

It's easy to lower the cancer death rate; make sure people die of something else first!

Males will all eventually get prostate cancer; the rates are rising because they aren't dieing of the things we traditionally died of in the past - communicable diseases, war, accident and heart disease.

If we got out and started a good war, fewer people would die of cancer! Think of Iraq as a big anti-cancer crusade.

Always give as much notice as you can; at the worst they'll only pay you for the minimum notice period (which in this country is 4-6 weeks generally), but they may end up paying you for more.

I always think of this as being one of the perks of being in IT - you get some extra holidays whenever you change jobs.
