I was setting up SLS on a 4meg 486SX with coprocessor emulation and dreading the fact that I had to give up 8meg of disk space for swap. 2 gig swap... bah...
god made man but he used the monkey to do it apes in the plan we're all here to prove it i can walk like an ape talk like an ape i can do what a monkey can do god made man but a monkey supplied the glue
The rise of cheap 3d cards and Linux made the high priced closed SGI Workstations hard to sell. Back in 1994-1995 I had a SGI Indy on my desk complete with 256meg of memory. Ah what a sweet machine....
And all sorts of other regulations that the FCC is trying to figure out how to requore for VOIP. They don't get it. If they require it for the likes of vonage then it really won't do anything except cost these companies millions. The only way they can force this is to outlaw the internet. It's funny to watch the FCC try to force old rules on a new medium (new? wow... its not new anymore).
I agree and dissagree. We have an Open office at the moment and it has worked well but we are now reaching critical mass and it has turned around 180. I like the openness for learning via osmosis but this the openness can quickly becom disruptive. We are now looking at modular furniture.
Do you mean will Jobs be CEO of Disney/Pixar/Apple? This makes complete sense. Think about it. Apple is setting themself up to be the premeir media distribution company. Also they will soon be in every living room. I give it 1 year and these apple will merge with Pixney. I can't wait to see Pixney World!
Am I the only one that thought binary math was the coolest class ever? Just think.. the way we learned math in elementary and highschool was totllly wrong. It's like finding a new demension.
I claim BS! I've been running Ubuntu on a Thinkpad 600E (366 PII) for the last six months and it works just fine (except sound). Make sure you have at least 128 meg and you'll be fine.
It's VOIP? Is this any more disruptive than mom&pop voip? Is it any more disruptive than Woo Hoo.. Woo Hoo Hoo.. Vonage? No. It as disruptive as Yahoo auctions was to ebay.
No Asterisk IS disruptive as it brings NT & LU down to reality.. VOIP service is not!
Not for the company's being sued but it's great for the freaking screwed up patent process. Maybe this will be the lawsuit that fixes the patent process. If someone can patent a conference call with visual indicator in this day and age then the process is way passed broken. The patent office is the group that needs to be sued.
It seems to me that the shuttle is so old school that it's costing more than it's worth to prep for launch. Most of the air breathing launch vehicles have proven that the rocket approach isn't required. even the re-entry doesn't need to be so fast that it requires heat shields that vulcan could be proud of. OK I's stupid......
EU just like the US have no clue what to do about MS. MS is currently more wealthy than more than half of sovereign countries in the world. How do you fight it? Here's what you do..
Split it into 4-8 different companies that all own the same IP and source licenses. Allow the 4 to 8 to compete with each other over the next 5 years. After that the IP and source that currently exist becomes public and only the new code and IP since the split is property of the new companies. I bet within the 5 years one of the companies will be a BSD company.
You might want to mention that it is 2.59 CENTS/min not dollars like it looks in the post. I also use Voicepulse connect and think it's a great service.
What the hell.. he tried to ruin a $500 piece of art by inserting a $200 piece of crap. Why would anyone ever do such a thing? I smoked my last cigarette on Dec 31, 2004 and I used my last Windows based PC on Jan 15, 2005. I'm not sure which one makes me feel better. The Mac Mini has put the fun back into computing. Almost like the first time I played with a palm. Well worth the $500.
One word... Bolo. It was such a cool game that I went out and bought a Mac so I could play it.
Global warming...

Woah..... Forget your meds this morning? There's alot more in this world to get upset about that using a word that might not be a word.

Can I walk 500 feet? A mile is a long way.

Gentoo I assume. Slow slow death!

They should use Drive-By Truckers tune "Never Gonna Change"..
"Ain't Never Gonna Change"
Yeah, the funny thing is he would have been better off shoving the thing down his pants an not paying anything....

Skype has a huge amount of users. They are not buying the technology but rather the userbase.

Hmmmm.....
Don't be too quick to declare the winner based on bank accounts. Look at the Intel vs. Intergraph case.

This isn't really the solution but it's the on we used 10 years ago to send email. Wow.. Things have really changed in the past 10 years.
