Whats even better is since when does Windows read Mac formatted disks of any kind? (without some help). It doesn't say insert a windows formatted zip disk into the mac (which would work just fine).

Yes I have. Well 4 years ago. I got tired of how slow the mac would web browse (among other things) and that if I wanted to play any computer games at all I either had to wait 1-2 years and hope it came out on the mac or just not play it at all. Also the price of hardware is horrible. I built my own to of the line PC for $1200 (it was 4 years ago). I could go cheaper these days. I'd love to have a G4 Powerbook, but no way at those prices considering I can get a P4 laptop from dell for about $1600.

I still use my old wallstreet powerbook for just internet usage in my living room and an old power computing clone for my linux server (for web and ftp use).

I would love to run OSX on a G4 titanium powerbook, but until I can buy a souped up one for around $1600 or less I won't ever buy another Mac.

People like you "just don't get it".

    1. Its cheaper. I can turn around 4-6 movies a month and only pay 19.95. What are BB's prices these days for new releases? 3.95 or something like that? So round it up...4 bucks. So $16-24 and...

    2. With BB you have to get in your car and get to the store to return it the next day (new releases) or else they start slapping you with tons of late charges. With Netflix I return it when I'm done with it. Get some friends with Netflix and trade rentals and return them all when your done. Turns out to be even cheaper if you trade with friends. With Netflix I just pull the seal and pop it in any mailbox anywhere in the US. Simple and takes no time. Even just put it in the outgoing mail at your place of work.

    3. Selection. Netflix's selection is a million times better than any BB store.

    4. Rental queue. I can't keep a running list at BB with the movies I want to rent. I can't walk into a store and say give me the next one on my list. With Netflix when they get one back they send you the next one in your list, that day. Netflix is doing 2 day turn around. The day they get it, they ship the next one. In 2 days you have a new movie.

Just because Microsoft says they are winner titles doesn't make them so. How long has xbox been out? A year or more and there still is only 1 game worth buying for it. And Halo 2 will be the 2nd game. Microsoft save up. Ditch Xbox and move on to Xbox 2, maybe that one will be a winner. If not I'm sure they are already preparing XBox 3 and 4...or XBox 2k2, Xbox XP...

"As an experiment, introduce yourself to people for the next few weeks and mention that you haven't watched TV for x years."

But why would anyone just freely come out of nowhere and say they don't watch tv? Its a meaningless comment. I read a quote online where someone said that to another person and the person replied something like, thats great, I don't go around saying I don't kill people.

The only reason someone comes right out and says they don't watch tv is to make themselves somehow feel superior to other people, but in fact it just means they are missing out. Current pop television culture is just as important as other means of media and those of you not taking it in are missing out.

But then again its your choice to withdraw yourself from the rest of the world.

And if they don't officially announce it you can bet really good money that a special limited edition of (insert title here) will be coming out in 6-10 months after the initial version.

I was even in Best Buy the other day and overheard an employee telling a customer to wait till November when the special edition comes out. So people are finding out, but a lot of folks just don't care. And if you do just rent it from Netflix and keep it till November. I've had Black Hawk Down from Netflix for 2 months now. A special edition for that is coming out in January or February (it keeps getting pushed back).

Check it out, it is not iControl at all. We've had that here for about a year now. We've had HBO on demand for a few months now also.

Sure it looked prettier (well except without much color), but it wasn't that much fun.

Doom 3 will run just fine on Geforce 4 cards. Every interview and plan file from Carmack talks about him using Radeon 8500's and Nvidia Geforce 3 and 4 cards and the game running right now on them and its not even done yet.

    From Carmack himself:

"Our "full impact" platform from the beginning has been targeted at GF3/Xbox level hardware. Slower hardware can disable features, and faster hardware gets higher frame rates and rendering quality. Even at this target, designers need to be more cognizant of performance than they were with Q3, and we expect some licensee to take an even more aggressive performance stance for games shipping in following years."
