You don't have to like it, that's fine. But at least be critical on what's actually in the movie.

I was just trying to get some good examples of what wasn't straight forward about it becase I found it to be obvious. Its been a long time since I watched it but the lack of dialogue just made it more blunt and boring. Although I have to admit that less of Lucas's dialogue is a *good* thing!

It explores topics covered many times before. Take a little bit of 1984, add some Brave New World and Metropolis(which also has a small amount of dialogue), along with little pieces of other scifi-dystopias(Heinlein and Dick come to mind) and you have a ripoff. Which is okay, because good artists copy, great artists steal. However, George Lucas has real problems with plot, character development and dialogue. All these issues show up over and over in his work and it's obvious that in THX1138 he is just starting figure this stuff out, making it a tedious update of well worn themes.

So anyway, when I was 20 years old this movie was mildly entertaining for about 20 minutes, but then I got the point.

Happier now? I gave you a little more then what stuck in my mind? Would you like me to spend a week with it and give you a list of everything that just doesn't work quite right?

Yes I am happier now. Don't get upset with me because you can't formulate your criticism in an intelligent manner. Giving one reason why you don't like gnome is not a very good argument. Especially when it's something that is easily fixed/configured.

I don't think gnome is perfect either, there are lots of things I would like it to do better. For example if I was going to pick a list off the top of my head it would go like this.

    - Can't see .dotfiles in the new file selector. You can see dotdirs, but that's not good enough.
    - Show hidden files doesn't stay selected in the file selector. I'm not sure if I really dislike this or not. Time will tell. It would be nice to have the option though.
    - The new file selector doesn't retain it's height and width. This really bugs me.
    - Metacity opens windows in the top left, right where I'm not looking for it.
    - My panel keeps stealing focus from applications when I switch desktops.
    - Nautilus should have a configuration option for spatial/browser mode. This is just something that you have to have both ways. I would have had major issues using gnome spatially, but since I don't have to, I'm not too worried about it.

So there you go, of the top of my head, it didn't take a week to post and really helps make the argument deeper. It lets people take it seriously, instead of saying to themselves, this guy doesn't like gnome, but his example is not very weighty, so who cares? If I were a gnome developer reading your original post, I wouldn't give it a second thought.

How Interesting, you give no other reason why it is "the was the biggest steaming pile of an almost useless evironment", and instead of finding out how to change nautilus to suit you, you switch to a completely different environment.

Your opinions will mean more if they are less dramatic and provide more information.

To paraphrase you: I liked gnome's last release but this one sucks because the file selector doesn't work the way I want it to. Rather than change how it works to suit me better, I moved to another desktop. This problem was obviously not well thought out and was just an attempt to say fuck you to the rest of the world and me.

I didn't say it was a good reason. But it is a reason for them to hate Zionists and makes it easy for the ignorant/untaught to make the step to hating all Jews and their supporters. Your previous comment saying the entire arab culture is intolerant is so general. Christians and Muslims lived peacefully in palestine for centuries before Zionists came to town.

If it had been other Muslims moving into the country the Palestinians wouldn't have been so bothered.

I bet they would have if those Muslims had decided they wanted to rule part of Palestine for themselves. Especially if they resorted to killing to establish their rule.

But the rise to power of Adolf Hitler in Germany in 1933 produced a powerful new impetus for Zionism. Not only did it create a flood of Jewish refugees -- at a time when the United States had closed its doors to further immigration -- but it undermined the faith of Jews that they could live in security as minorities in non-Jewish societies. Jewish opinion began to shift in favour of Zionism, and pressure for more Jewish immigration to Palestine increased. But the more Jews settled in Palestine, the more aroused Palestinian Arab opinion became, and the more difficult the situation became in Palestine. In 1936 serious Arab rioting broke out, and in response the British authorities issued the White Paper, severely restricting further Jewish immigration.

The Jewish community in Palestine responded by organising armed forces, based on smaller units developed to defend remote agricultural settlements. Two military movements were founded, the Labor-dominated Haganah and the Revisionist Irgun. The latter group did not hesitate to take military action against the Arab population. With the advent of World War II, both groups decided that defeating Hitler took priority over the fight against the British. However, attacks against British targets were recommenced in 1940 by a splinter group of the Irgun, later known as Lehi, and in 1944 by the Irgun itself.
