I have checked DishLinux for a while (I wanted to add software of my own to the 721) but unfortunately it seems every executable is encrypted with PGP. The loader decrypts it and runs it.

Also there is a file in the root partition that seems to be a list of files on the disk, also PGP signed. When the system boots it checks and if there is any differences between the list and the disk and if there are any it does a full reinstall.

If anyone wants to know more go here and here . These are 2 threads on SatelliteGuys detailing what I found out while replacing the hard drive.

In the article, he actually confesses that he has 'been a Mac fan [his] entire life.' Interesting, considering some of his criticism of Apple's work in the past.

He says he is a fan, not a zealot (like many here). I like Debian, Ubuntu, Windows XP (gasp!), and OSX but I know neither of them is perfect. Anyway, how can there be improvement without criticism?

Yeah, forgot to mention that the Sprint version is the 1.0 version of the phone, it has OS 4.1 no SDIO or SD slot. It has a 160x160 screen.

The GSM version is the latest. There are some conflicting specs about the GSM screen resolution. Some sites say the screen is 320x320, others 160x160 which can display 320x220 (scaling?), others say 352x352. Well find out when it comes out.
