    Just a point or two to consider: why do you think the cops are trialling this? Do you think there could be a correlation between tailgating and accidents? Why do think that might happen? Whose decision/action made it dangerous?

    OK, found your post. It's a reply to something that is 2, Flamebait, so it's not visible.

    I somehow think none of those patents is likely to stand up, not that I know any of them in detail. For example, "just about any" - well, do you think that might be 'overly broad'?!

    I doubt you know them in detail either, unless you're much sadder than I suspect ;-) I very much doubt MS is that confident too, cos there are plenty of people they could go after with those that aren't in the whole patent-protection-swapping game (which I assume is your MAD reference). Hell, any up-and-coming game company is going to break the config-info-passing one - don't you think they'd want a share of that pie?

    Seriously, I am going to go over to one of the many patent registry websites and search for Microsoft patents and post one or two that Linux violates

    Well get on with it then. I can't wait to see what you can find that explains why MS doesn't try to enforce their patents, but instead plays SLAPP-style threat games instead.

    If there was anything non-trivial they would be going to court against RedHat, IBM, Oracle, SuSe... why aren't they? Because they are worried the patent would be struck down.

    In parts of Europe (France, Italy, Spain I think) the road indicated by the sign is the one nearest to the pointy end. So something that appears to point left or right can in fact mean straight on, depending where the sign itself is positioned.

    A license is not a contract. In fact, unless an agreement has both give and take, and agreement from both parties, it isn't a contract: if I say "You may walk on my lawn, but only if you wear flat-soled shoes", I do not have a contract with you. I have given you a license with conditions.

    A license is a one-way permission, perhaps with conditions. If you do not stay within the GP License, then you have to explain what rights you had to reproduce the work; if you wear your hiking boots on my lawn, I want to know what right you had to go on my property!

    There is no such shift. Breathing remains autonomic except for a very small number of people (this was discovered while studying free-divers). The ability to repress the autonomic response is learned. For example, people who are knocked unconscious don't forget to breathe. Why should babies 'forget' unless something is wrong within the brain?

    Incidentally, I believe foraging societies such as Amerindian peoples do leave babies on the ground while they sleep. Simply because they aren't foraging all the time!

    The great majority are not melting. They are growing.
    This is not true.

    (You mustn't just knee-jerk disagree without sources and phrase things as if you are an authority. That's as bad as TFA.) As I understand it, it is true that inland glaciers are indeed growing. (I could be wrong though).

    The growth is believed to be because the slight warming of the atmosphere in the area carries more moisture inland. It is, in fact, evidence of global warming.
