    Here in the GVRD (Greater Vancouver Regional District) the issue is not so much that the builders are planning on picking up the repair work from their previously crappy designs/construction, but that they plan on *not* being around when the inevitable leaks, failures and so on occur.

    The inspectors and builders I know tell me this has been the response to the hot housing market here, i.e., the unscrupulous exploiting the desparate/ignorant/naive. The worst examples seem to have occurred within the last decade ...

    Obviously the physical paradigm is wrong -- instead of a sushi roll on a plank, North Americans would probably more fit the "dozen eggs in a carton" model.

    Guests would have their individual, snug little fabric cylinders packed together for space efficiency.

    During the day they would work in, say, more rectangular analogues to accomodate their miniature office environment, e.g., desk, computer, inspirational poster, etc.

    Why so cynical? Slashdot is a paragon of the Open Source community.

    It's only reasonable and expected that they would (under appropriate license) distribute the original and the improvements together so everyone can benefit.

    Note that the Tsar Bomb design was never weaponized due to the constraints it placed on delivery systems. Though it *was* clean enough for local (i.e., European) use.

    His primary motivation at the beginning seems to be digust at Saudia Arabia's dependence on the US.

    I would love to see us progress to the point where cows are well fed, happy and healthy.

    It would probably be more economic to just grow vat people with simple feeding requirements and a finger to push the factory button. That way the upper class could more efficiently use their vast resources to maintain their inefficient, old-fashioned naturally-grown selves ...

    A "Scientific fact" is usually something that can be expressed as a simple equation or formula. Anything that can't be reduced to that level of certainty probably will never be anything but a Theory.

    I picked a Motorola V180 for the following features:

    - great battery life (easily a week with regular use)
    - colour screen
    - small screen on the outer shell
    - cheap (a few generations behind)
    - NO CAMERA (so there'd be fewer objections to its presence on client sites)

    It seems to be as good a flip phone as you can get without having a camera.
