I'm playing a lot of FarCry at the moment. The overall mood on most european clan servers is great with clan members watching over server rules and general politeness. You hear a lot of 'sry', 'np', 'thx', 'gg' and 'gj' during a good game and a lot of interesting and funny chatting. People come back to these servers. The other side is official UbiSoft servers where more often than not the scum of the net washes up. Experience tells that British and German servers are among the most civilized. French clan servers are often indifferent with almost no admins or distinguished players 'cleaning up'. But Ubi's are the worst by far.
is equipped with a computer, motors and sensors that detect electric nerve signals transmitted from the brain when a person tries to move his limbs. When the sensors detect the nerve signals, the computer starts up the relevant motors to assist the person's motions.
this sounds fun and all, but just wait till one of them falls into a seizure.
...i was thinking: yeah the possibility is given, that the enormous coolnes of google will send it into a technological singularity and *plop* it will be gone from our universe.
what i'm saying is, that the whole "human process" is reality, because we are able to learn and differ things from other things. we are constantly categorising the sensoric input we receive. this is more than words, it's our way to be.
science is doing something, that is pretty fascinating: it's mostly categorising things we are not able to perceive. it's our mind, that is extending our senses. and if you want to communicate the data you gain and put it to any use, you have to name it. you have to write about it and talk about it and put up a presentation about it with many diagrams and well defined words in it.
That's why I never liked biology. Too much of it seems focused on definitions, rather than real substance. "Organism" is a word, nothing more. There is nothing fundamental about it.
excuse me, but what are you talking about? science in general is always focused on definition. its purpose is to break down the "world" into parts, that we are able to comprehend. defining and categorising is vital to our communication and thinking. now there is something fundamental about it.
i don't know if the same rules apply, but german military guards have to warn you three times verbally, then have to give a warning shot in the air and then can shoot you. shooting anything but your arms or legs will have them in great trouble, though...
if you are armed and do something threatening, it's another story...
I think the reason why so many movie games suck is simply a question of quality of thought and design put into them.
which is the reason, why something sucks, 99% of the time. i mean, really: some corporation asks you, why its product isn't successfully marketable and you can almost always say, that it lacks quality of design.
it is the way a short lived market like that of movie merchandise is handled.
In fact, the only thing that the name-association will get you is some free publicity.
and in the example of videogames it isn't even that much publicity. the manufacturers are just realizing, that the only way to get a videogame real big is through an active community. games like halflife and unreal tournament wouldn't still be top sellers without one.
this is because every person reacts differently to pot. me and a lot of people i know have no problem with driving when high. i actually drive more safely and don't speed as much as when i'm sober.
the reason, why noone wants to legalize driving under influence of psychedelic substances is, that there is no way of measuring the impact it has on a persons mind.
i'm perfectly safe, while high, but i know enough people, that are not. i wouldn't even let them ride a bike... =)

i knew i'm on a sinking ship:
"The world of Slashdot it will pass very."
prepare for the end of slashdot!
... but this must be the biggest flamebait, ever.
please let me uber-moderate!
so when do we see a larry MMORPG?
;-)
one player could operate larry's head and one... well, you know.
hooray for cowboy bebop!
i loved the laser-dodging-scenes in "jamming with edward"!
this episode is my favorite, too.
it sits right next to ep. 124 (call to arms), which is also quite cool. self replicating mines, heh.
