    7zip is an awesome compression format. I'm getting dang near 60-70% compression when zipping up SQL Databases.

    Different Direct TV brands yield different results.

    I had a hugues receiver and it worked fine, you could scroll through the guide with only about a second delay (for current programs) or 4 seconds (for later programs -- but part of that was because I had hacked the timezone so I could get local channels)

    Now, I've also had a RCA receiver that would take 5 seconds or so to switch stations. Later model RCA's seemed to be a bit better about it, but still the interface seemed klunky and slow.

    not really.

    It's 250MB of patches for XP Pro, XP Home, and XP Meida edition. 3 slightly different OS.

    Regular for a single one of these would only be around 50-60 meg.

    They've managed to totally botch up the half.com "transition" that's been going on for the last year or so.

    They just don't seem to understand that they can't possibly scale up to a single back end for everything.

    We've got some mainframe old skool file transfer software that we've had running for about 15 years.

    Then, one day, CA buys it and kills our license for it.

    For no reason.

    We'd be happy to keep paying the 10,000/yr license fee, but they stopped renewing all licenses for it.

    But you have to think of all the gameplay you'll get from the countless excellent mods that will come out using the doom3 engine.

    It's just like unreal tournament 2004 is like getting 10-20 *very* different games for $35.

    Same concept for doom 3.
