In San Luis Obispo we had the massive scantron ballot, I liked it and it worked well. I did note however that the machine that read the ballot was a diebold machine. I also read in my local fish wrap that they plan to use the diebold counting machines in the november election, but are not going to use the touch screens in the near future.
I am one of those people that, if you start to jerk me around on the phone, I will try to make you fucking cry. Not because I don't like you (I don't even care), Not because I am an asshole (ok maybe just a little), but because if I can help you decide to quit your shit job, your asshat employer has to replace you and pay all the training costs and the drug tests and the unemployment insurance of replacing an employee. It is my opinion that if they want to cut those costs maybe they should provide me with service I don't have to scream at you about.
You have to use real vintage tinfoil to be effective. The modern Al foil cointans a special phosphore coating required by a secret convention in the mid 1970's that makes it less effective for blocking mind control radio signals, and causing wearers to stand out on spy satilites. (at least that what I like to tell the paranoids at the mental hospital I ocaisionaly eat lunch at)

That arguement didnt help the pot smokers of the 1960s did it?
Depends what state. In the PRC (peoples republic of California) I have cop freind who won't do the paper work on anything less than an ounce, because most DA's won't do anything with it. Now that the medical pot law is in effect, its easier for cops just to turn a blind eye to the whole mess.
Remeber that efficincy is (power output)/(power input) so reducing the weight also reduces power requirments proportional to the inverse of the efficency
If the movie is really bad, but still gets a ton of hype having a grainy spoiler show up on the net could knock the hell out of the first big weekend the studios counted on to recoup their loses
Batteries have been in development for the better part of two hundred years (ignoring posible evidence of even earlier batteries used for electro plating in greco-roman periods) the fact that after this much time the tech is for the most part a a platue is expected, to be fair the advances that we are having now are very impressive when you think about how much work has gone into this field. electric computers on the other hand are just over 50 years of serious development, advances should be more rapid in this field.
In the book Seven Seasons of Buffy, theyiscuss te infamous "beer Bad" episode. It is described as what happens when a bunch of independant minded writers were forced to write anti drug/alchol propiganda by the Goverment. and yes they were forced, by the network , who was coereced by ONDCP to have a certain number of these shows in exchange for prime time ad spots that the FCC forces TV stations togive the goverment.
I say use lawyers. now accoirding to http://www.bls.gov/cps/cpsaat11.pdf there are 952000 lawyers which is almost enough to take care of all the landmines, and if it isn't they keep making more also lawyers are less lovable than rats, So the trainers will be less attached.
Why should I accept mail claiming to be from hotmail that originates from a Starbucks somewhere?
because many potential customers (like me) use their free web based account wherever they happen to be on what ever computer is nearby. Blocking my Yahoo! account is the same thing as blocking my money. If I can' talk to you I can't do business with you
a couple of years ago I would have agreed with you about smart enough to filter smart enough to not buy from spam....but now with yahoo mail hotmail and even earthlink mail running server side spam filters, to even reach the small population of stupid people with small limp penises (penii?) the spammers have to first out wit the growing gauntlet of the anti spammers. I'm afraid at this point we just need to start hunting down the spammers and their children, and their siblings, and their parents, and their friends, and their friends parents siblings
I own the firefly DVD. I love it....but I can see why it was cancelled. -too expensive the computer animation was top notch and used libraly, the casts were frequently huge. The sets magnificent. on a first season show this spells disaster. -The episode were not shown in order. a cardnal sin in dealing with Joss whedons work. worse they didn't show the pilot until after the show was canceled -culture clashes. its good SF to show how rolls can change over time. Its bad for a TV show to put a prostitute as a respected memeber of society. The "moral majority" can be very vocal and can cause advertisers to pull out.
They pick it up for a song in the former soviet block countries, much like our predicted opponents do. The real problem with the stuff is that getting parts is a real bitch on that stuff.
That plane is used for training purposes to be the agressor, it looks like one of the Navy OpFor planes from Palomar. The us military uses mocked up soviet equipment, or sometimes even real soviet equipment to train against.
For us its even better with similar restriction a large group of my coworkers all use the same password so they can access the each others files, by just changeing user ids. Another place I worked assigned us passwords every three months, but we always kept the memo with the passwords posted on the corkboard.
Its stuff like this that makes me think Slashdot needs an events page. had I known about this a week ago I might have been able to attend. It would be great if we could get say a weeks notice on geek-centric events.
more interesting than that a recent analysis of actual snake oil (not that most of these salesmen were selling the real thing) is actualy quite full of vitamins and taking a teaspoon of the stuff really was good for you. However many of the snake oils theat were being sold had large percentages of opiates and alcohol in them to provide that instant good feeling and give the added bonus of addiction for the customer.
this crap ware would exist in Linux as soon as the user base got big enough to have a proffitable segment of morons, who don't know to check the MD5 hashes (or even what they were). yes propritary software created this problem, but free software alone will not get rid of it
except that to get my car smogged (every two years in CA) the pop open my hood and if my intake system isn't factory spec. no certificate. no certificate no licence plate. for this aspect of the test they don't even care if your care runs cleaner than a stock car would. it has to be factory spec.

Which is exactly how I voted in my district in CA, that with a sharpie on a scantron looking form
Sears sold off its credit card division this year to citybank, so now the only thing they get from it is free processing.

that would be enuogh light to be seen in most of Rhode Island and make half of the library of congress readable on a dark Texas night.
no thanks nessisary
