While this is true, a lot of the economy during this time (when I bought my house) was propped up by the housing/irresponsible lending engine. In a way the people who were responsible about managing their finances still benefited indirectly from all this financial nonsense.
I'm still trying to figure that out. It does not exceed the specs for the MBA especially in price which is what Microsoft's new ad campaign is all about.
I guess if you need a MBA form-factor that runs Windows this is your thing. I'd much prefer to run Windows virtually in the MBA though.
I wonder if that's why I sometimes prefer WinMo to the iPhone. Even though I know I'd be happy with the simplicity and the "It Just Works (TM)" of the iPhone there is something that I like about installing programs to do very specialized tasks that delight me on WinMo. Then again the battery life and constant crashing kind of counteract that so I probably do not know what I'm talking about.
Great website, I like it. Honestly most of the websites and books out there just go over how to do things but rarely go over exercises. Actually doing what you're reading about is incredibly important IMHO to really learning this stuff.
If Google won they would have had to pay the price for the spectrum. They somehow got the auctioneers to include the rule and everybody decided to play by that, including Verizon. How is that not fair? Bottom line--if Google won, they would have had to pay.
Also consider that maybe we are pushed to do this because there's someone out there on the opposite end of the globe who is willing to work harder than you are. We no longer have to compete with people within the same city or country for a job, but all around the world now.
"It's like consorting with the enemy. We've had this long history of saying the enemy is the big black-hatted guys, and they kind of represent evil. We are different, and by being different we're better," he says. "All of a sudden we're the same in this hardware regard, so it's a little hard to swallow your words from the past."
Isn't this one of the beneifts of outsourcing though? I am not an expert on organizational theory but when I think of the future of outsourcing I see companies focusing on their core competency (some sort of novel idea, marketing) with all of the streams of non-core work (product development, HR) outsourced. Of course, this will require high levels of relationship management with your suppliers (be it physical goods or human capital).
They may have made a mistake by even licensing this tech at all. Have you tried using a WMA device? I purchased a SanDisk MP3 player over Xmas to try out the Napster-to-Go service. Needless to say, the confusion started when you had to deal with two pieces of software (WMP and Napster) and the fact that the hardware OS is inconsistent from one manufacturere to another.
I recently bought (and returned) a Philips mp3 player to use for audiobooks. Not only can the thing not display track time > 1 hr., but there is no mid-track resume feature. Some of the WM licensed players may have this, but some don't. Unfortuantely, this strict control of licensing (or lack thereof) is why the iPod works so well. Well, that and the software on the back-end, but that's a whole different argument.
Actually I would love for all television to be subscription only. Heck, I would love for not only channels but individual shows to be subscription based.
I have to pay nearly $70 to $80 a month for cable and really only watch a few shows or sports broadcasts. I have to pay for many other channels that I am forced to buy but never watch.
I actually use this quite a bit and have saved quite a bit over retail. I used to use Pricewatch but like the ability of this site to calculate the bottom line price in most cases as well as a decent comparison. Of course, you have to take the selection of stores and reviews with a grain of salt
The bottom line for me: I have saved money using this free service.
Even if these were customer service jobs, I have encountered the same "check-the-box" type tech support being outsourced within America. The only difference is the dialect and accent.
I perceive the major differentiating factors between quality of outsourcing to be how much the company that is outsourcing is the training of workers and quality assurance. People are people no matter where you go. Companies that give you crap service over the phone would probably have given you the same crap service in house. The only difference is that differentiated labor costs force them to go to India instead of Anywhere, America.
Sounds like a lot of steak dinners for those PHB's.

The ironing is delicious!

Wow, this is one of the most depressing things I've ever read about life.
It should be easier to switch to AMD or other X86 platforms in the future, opening up more negotiation possibilities.
Thanks. I like this setup and I think I'll try it out. I'm a sucker for DIY even though I could probably buy this from Dell or HP for 60% of the cost.
Would you mind listing your setup?
I just got the GB Micro and I love it but these wireless games look too good to pass up!
You pay your employees $5.15/hr.? Could you give ma a general idea of how big your "large" bonus is?
I thought I had Adblock on. Those sneaky bastards.

I think the difference is that I go to Google where Claira comes to you. Kind of like in Soviet Russia!
Maybe they are using this to buy time while the fix or clean up their code.
