"but SCEA say 'no, they must be 2 in 1', or something like this."
Amusingly enough, it sounds awfully similar to the/. reaction in the recent games.slashdot article about Famicom Mini GBA releases with not so cheap price tags... but what is funny here is, even the marketing people, not customers, at SCEA understand the American way perfectly and try to exploit on it just like pirates in China demand 10-in-1 cart:)
I've heard in Korea Starcraft is huge and still doing well, but these days we have very little to hear about Starcraft excpet for the news of delay. When was the last title from Starcraft franchise released? Moreover, Ghost is not RTS and further delay will decay its prospect badly to the degree it has no sense to have "Starcraft" in its title.
You are right about Open Source, nonetheless worm authors won't prohibit re-distribution of their code because of obvious reason which makes it called 'worm' to be spread freely...
Now I've read the article, this man is far from "father of DVD". He would be better represented as "DVD pimp". Usual folie de randeur of/. editors, move on.
There is an example vice versa, the Japanese manga Fist of the North Star was remade into the fscked up live-action movie version. I assume Hollywood has many other things it "smuggled" into the US from around the world (if you don't stick at comic books, there's the recent rush of the US remake of Japanese movies, such as "Ring" or "Shall We Dance?").
Why does it have to be HLA? Color text? Or is it for some esoteric platforms with 32KB memory? If not so, using Perl will suffice to make a text adv. Or even JavaScript and a web browser.
Dunno merit in l33t "OSS community" itself much, but competition is good thing for all people in the society anyway. One day when you need a WinCE device, you may be able to purchase it for cheaper price if Linux gains some ground against it.
Do you have a clue on why the resolution of it is quite low compared to multiples of Philips's one? Considering news value, patching panels to make bigger one won't make a feature as it is.
Those ackknowledgements of injustices you cite are all toward the citizen of the US from the gov/citizen of the US, not toward people in other countries/nationalities (please ignore the nationality of native American in 17th century here). For what reason can't you admit wrong treatment toward your own people? Do American textbooks for highschool education mention the cause and the effect of the nuclear bomb onto Japan well enough? How about the protest against the planned Smithsonian exhibit about atomic bomb from the US citizen?
What Japan confronts now and in the past is international issues, not mere domestic problem (not totally though, because you have to take Japanese Korean into account). Don't confuse them.
Unlike current PS2 the starting platform PSP has no titles at all, hence the absolute number of titles that join the first wave of competion is small. On its launch it will be lucky, easier competition between them, at least if you can make up a title in time, as customers without much hint on the platform capability may pick up some random game, and at the same time it can be a big chance or bet for those not-proved-yet-but-potential developers.
You may argue that it's not new because GBA is also in the same handheld market, but PSP is meant for a clearly different market, something like the high-end handheld market (which the failed TG16 handheld was in against GameBoy BTW, though today's situation is very different).
I can imagine Darl McBride runs it day and night to make and release a "music compilation CD" that consists of 100,000,000 different music patterns and develops a patern comparison program to sue some upcoming musician.
Seriously, heard it, and it sounds better than monkey punching keyboard as it has some rhythm and cycle, but still, calling it "music" is wild use of the word. What's the point of "Using Java"?
Though everyone mocks Phantom and Infinium Labs's aggressive attitude toward internet users, if Infinium Labs can persuade some notable PC developers to join in its camp, it may be nice competition to Xbox, as "better Xbox without Live". Or is it supposed to have reasonable network support? If it has network multiplay, it's almost like Xbox 1.5.

I haven't RTFA, but is it rare that you see exploit code in VBscript or WSH which is inherently Open Source on Windows?
When you get a CDR drive for dirt cheap price DVD-R drives are still expensive.
When you get a DVD-recorder dirt-cheap, Blu-ray recorders are still expensive.
Where's the news? Pleeeeeeeeeease lemme know WHEN THE PRICE ACTUALLY DROPS. 'PREDICTION', NO THANKS.
That tilted window...
Seriously, they should learn more about human nature or cognitive science when designing UI.

>More important, he saw its potential to transform the industry.
Who invented the DVD technology? That's the news for nerds.
http://www.fair.or.jp/robocup/2004/photo.htm has phots from RoboCup Japan Open 2004 Osaka, not the RoboCup itself.

No it's the Balloon Fight
a Beowulf Cluster of pixels... oh nevermind
When Sony Ericsson has nice smartphones, and SCEI will have a good handheld gaming/entertainment machine, how can PDA's existence be justified?

when you can play PS games on PS2, though Sega fans may miss the days.
BTW, 8-bit rules!

Use OSS Media Player Classic

1. Make a non-linear game
2. Play it some time to get a decent story line
3. ???
4. Movie!
For more practical reason, you can recycle computer graphics model for a game in its film form.
Japan continues to prove a difficult market for the Xbox, for numerous reasons (one being that the Japanese are hostile to American firms).
Excuse me, do you know the fact that Japan is Apple's second largest market outside the United States?

Yeah, me too, but if it can run Xbox emulator and Linux, with slightly higher price than Xbox, it's not bad at all.
