While all holes and bugs should be fixed, this reads as FUD for me. Maybe those considering using their Nintendo Switches for accessing nuclear launch systems, banking software, and power infrastrucures should refrain from doing so.
Once the government figures out that quantum computers can be used to easily crack conventional encryption, you can bet that those new machines will be locked up behind a top secret order that's about 30 pieces of paper thick.
With all of the funny electronics running in these vehicles, unless I can audit the code being used I'm going to assume every automaker is doing the same thing and Volkswagon forgot or didn't think to pay the campaign *cough bribe cough* contributions.
AMP is the most annoying new "feature" infesting the web. Half of the time, the pages don't load properly so i have to click through the link at the top to get directly to the page.
Instead of trying to make my mobile browsing experience better, why don't you deliver the damn content I asked for Google!.
Anytime you find kiddie images, you must immediately report them to the proper authorities or else you will face prosecution. Had the BBC not spent time trying to make someone look bad and instead reported these images to the police, the police would have then contacted Facebook who would have removed them in a timely manner.
Here's hoping there was a lengthy penalty by the police to said "journalist" for trying to manufacture outrage!
There are several thousand engineers in places outside of silly con valley that would love to work for a company like Uber all while not particularly caring about the BS social justice crap.
Are we emulating the hardware to match the differences in architecture (arm vs x86) or is it some goofy extraction layer (with apologies to WINE)?
If it's the latter, than it would be a lot like the internet back in 2005 with IE6 breaking web standards against other browsers and having to test it against multiple browsers to see what works.
Oh you said magic so I should disregard the nit picky things. Since we're assuming utopian technological advancements, then we'd probably only see two main platforms (laptop and mobile) since everything would be software agnostic.
I find it odd that Facebook is giving people the ability to vote on the trust worthiness of the news. This will give the public a way to basically rate the mainstream media on a per article basis and as we all know most people don't trust the media. This is going to terribly blow back on all of their faces and make the MSM look even worse.
Right about 2008/2009 computer hardware became "good enough" to appeal to people's basic needs which really only centered on having a simple window to the internet. Netbooks became available and smartphones started to become good enough to browse the internet on their own. Consumers at the end of the day really only want a platform that's able to view into the internet.
Someone can correct me, but I believe such innovation is still occurring for server technology and niche fields like a/v production, cad, and animation. Though, I do yearn for the olden days when consumer technology was cool and exciting. Being a tech nerd in the 90s was something else!
The mere act of using a private email for government business is wrong and should be punished. However, let us not forget that the point of all of this anger isn't the fact that a personal email was used. The anger came about because of what was found on said personal email server. Let us compare between the two politicians:
Did Mike share top secret information over his personal email? No.
Did Mike use his personal email to share deleterious information about any of his campaigns? No.
Did Mike say or do anything particularly damning in his emails (pizza anyone)? No.
Did Mike scrub his email server hardware after the fact during an investigation? No.
Did Mike use his personal email to discuss P4P "donations" to a personal charity? No.
All of this talk about "Muh Russians" and "Muh Russian election hijacking" is pointless when the email leaks clearly exposed a wholly corrupt candidate who had no issues about selling out America to whoever was the highest bidder. This is why people are angry. Using an personal email, while very wrong, pales in comparison to what was actually found on said server.
If you're a registered democrat, do yourself a favor and join the green party. It's the only way to punish those inept and greedy SOBs that have destroyed the Democratic party with identity politics and the mentally ill.
Being stuck for 20 minutes in customs is hardly a reason to complain. I've regularly waited upwards of 30 minues to clear it. Whoop de dee, border control is finally doing its job of making sure people who come into the country are who they say they are.
Everytime I enter France with my work visa I have to explain explicit work details with them about my job and if I still do it (evan after impossibly long flights too!). What's Mashable really trying to get at here?
These reviews mean nothing about the functionality of the app and are more about a vocal minority complaining loudly. If Google had the balls like Yelp does to remove reviews that aren't about functionality and are instead some hair brained attempt at "social justice" when an app or its company makes it into the news this would be a non-issue.
Take a look at all of the BS one star reviews for writers like Daryush Valizadeh or Mike Cernovich on Amazon. These people haven't even read their books yet get to do drive by whining and get the rush of being another sheep in a crowd.
The people who still use Uber will keep on using it and eventually these negative reviews will be forgotten. Uber isn't going anywhere.
I own a Blackberry Priv and absolutely love it. It's a solid phone that was hampered by rough software at launch which has been fixed. I absolutely enjoy using the phone. Not to mention, I typed up this post using the physical keyboard!
I'll be the first to admit the Priv was over priced at launch. I bought mine used on eBay as I don't like getting locked into a contract to get a new phone. It's a solid phone and the slider reminds me of the really old Tungsten T3, XDA win mobile phones, and my personal favorite the Droid 4.
I absolutely refuse to use on-screen keyboards. They're easily the worst for writing anything worthwhile. Seriously, i've been out in the field and had to write lengthy emails. No way in hell i'd do that with an on-screen keyboard.
Physical keyboards were the first thing they happily gutted from phones. Ironically, I think consumers prefer physical keyboards but the money saved and consumer apathy meant that manufacturers could continue eliminating feautures without complaint much to the chagrin of mobile tech nerds like myself. Now that they've finally hit the headphone jack, manufacturers are rightfully getting push back from consumers.
One day I hope for a mobile phone renassaince that brings back creative designs of the old days. One can only dream!
While i'm grateful the box was found, Byuu should have been smarter. If you're sending anything of value ($10k worth of games seriously) , get a tracking number, insure it, and get it sent via certified/registered mail. There'a no excuse for this carelessness. He got lucky. Had he had done that he would have had a way to find where it got lost. You should always do this for anything of value.
The rise in autism correlates heavily with geriatric parents (ie men and women who have children after 35). There was a study done that highlighted such a correlation. Posting on mobile, otherwise i'd link directly to one.
I'm always dubious of claims like this. There's an XKCD out there conveying exactly why we shouldn't put much stock into this CEO.
However, I will say that I am deeply impressed with the electric buses that run off of an overhead catenary wire. Cities should seriously look into electrifying heavily used bus routes. Easy way to save fuel cash and cut pollution down too.
Go to schwab.com , register for a checking account, and wait for all of the stuff to arrive in the mail. 100% free checking, no fees, and you can deposit your 10$ check via your phone.
Verizon's 4G coverage is about as good as it gets when it comes to cellular providers. Take a look at their current coverage maps for 4G. I was definitely using data and making phone calls as far back as 2010 on a smartphone.
I'm going to get laughed at, but after living abroad for a few years now i've come to miss Verizon. Mobile phone carriers in Europe absolutely suck. I can't get consistent service in the middle of my office building. Driving through the countryside makes streaming music a nightmare because of all of the holes in coverage. Have fun going between EU countries and having to roam.
The ironic part is you'll hear the same tired excuses that you hear in America for the lack of cellurlar services in Europe which is hilarious considering how tiny the continent really is.
Let's be real with ourselves. Nowadays the vectors for attack are easily protected so long as you use a modern browser that sandboxes itself and use an ad blocker you really don't need anything more than the built in AV and firewall tools for windows. I don't even think OSX provides an AV tool.
I haven't paid for antivirus software since 2005 which was coincidentally when I discovered Firefox and Adblocking extension.
The programmer is writing crappy and unoptimized code.
Or they could just as easily cut the power to the house. Who here actually remembers to put their home alarms on a UPS?
Always assume that they're connected to the internet and spying on you.
While all holes and bugs should be fixed, this reads as FUD for me. Maybe those considering using their Nintendo Switches for accessing nuclear launch systems, banking software, and power infrastrucures should refrain from doing so.

These dipsh!t producers need to realize that when they collectively suppress labor costs that very same "labor" can't afford to buy your goods.
Want to solve the lagging economy? Follow the philosophy of, "A rising tide raises all boats.
This is a prime example of the pot calling the kettle black.
