  1. Re:WoW vs Other on Lord of the Rings Online Review · · Score: 1

Actually, ask the people who've already left WoW to find out why they've left. The only former WoW addict that I know of left to play EQ2 and said that WoW became too tedious because of constant grouping and raids in the end game. She wanted to solo for the most part and enjoyed EQ2 because of it. I nearly game WoW a spin myself until I heard about the amount of raids and such. I just can not play a game on someone else's schedule and I enjoy soloing.

Huh? EQ2 is much more dependent on grouping. I mean, that's not a bad thing in and of itself, but WoW is the most solo-friendly MMORPG out there right now. And it even got moreso with the expansion pack.

I actually quit WoW for a year because I couldn't get into the endgame. Then I came back a month or two before the expansion hit and have been having a blast ever since.

You nailed it. The political spectrum has been moving right but the social spectrum is moving left (gay marriage, medicinal pot, etc) and thus you have this tension, this sharp divide between red state and blue state.

The "divide" isn't as dramatic as you make it out to be. It's not like blue states vote 100% democrat and red states vote 100% republican. Most states in 2004 went 60/40, or even closer.

What's really weird is that George W. Bush gained overall percentage points in 49 states, compared to 2000. So it's not like blue states grew increasingly alienated in the first four years of his presidency.

Parent poster was talking about a level business playing field. That doesn't mean that you should be given a leg up when competing against a rich and entrenched corporation. Merely that they can't use certain unfair business practices to keep you down.

If you want to break into the car market with your own little startup, odds are that you're going be driven out of business by the likes of Toyota or GM. There's nothing morally wrong about that. Being rich, and using your wealth strategically, is not a sin.

Well why were the fracking patents granted in the first place then?

And even beyond that, it just seems like this "innovation" rule is ripe for abuse and selective enforcement. If Microsoft's EU patents really are a problem, strip them away. None of this meddling bureaucratic bullshit. But I'm guessing the prosecution doesn't have a good enough case to strip away their patents outright.

WoW requires you to go back to your body in an invulnerable form from a fixed point and then respawn in the immidiate area of your body. If you don't you suffer a severe hit to your stats for a period of time.

You also get a durability hit to all your armor (and currently equipped weapon). This can be repaired at a vendor, for a fee. Of course this is especially bad if you die too many times in the middle of a dungeon. Items with 0 durability are no longer useful.
